Love this thing! I couldn't imagine being lucky enough to find something like this. Great score!
This is going to be one of your best projects. Can't wait to see it on the road. Good luck with it and try to stay cool out there, if it is possible?
Thanks Much! For now the plan is giving it 6 weeks to see how far I can get. So many other projects should be before it. Hoping to at least get the rolling chassis done for now. Kinda HOT out for any paint work. Monsoon season here now.
Going to be such a great truck! Use it on the regular or weekend fun toy with a little programming. Plus the ride of the later model F150 springs, power steering. Great design for it.
What kind of transmission you have on there?
@@henrymanqueroz5355 Cobra Jet C6 with Gear Vendors Overdrive.
Badass. What made you go with the 2.7 over the 3.5? Packaging?
@@bewareofmountainlions4429 This engine was purchased (donor truck) was purchased by a friend way back in 2016 for another ‘66 F100. He gave up on project basically never attempted the swap. 5 yrs ago i found this 1966 F100 4x4 no engine basically just rolling chassis. I then just had donor truck sitting here so figured put it on list of many projects. Since i had already Done 2 3.5 Eco swaps into 66 trucks called Eco1 & Eco2 thought it would be fun to call this Eco2.7. I then sold project to neighbor. He tinkered off & on for few yrs then walked away. A year or so ago i bought it back as project stalled. So here i am! In the meantime i did the 3.5 Raptor crate engine 10R80 swap in my ‘66 shortbed. I am doing a 7.3 zilla 10R140 in another 66 & my daily driver is a ‘23 STX 5.0. So this just happened & dare to be different. Should put down 400 hp to tire. Plenty for a daily driver.
@randysrestoration Damn. What a history. I would say good luck, but from the sound it, you don't need it. Happy building, and thanks for sharing.
What a terrible engine choice
@auskip07 says the kid who’s training wheels fell off his bike..
Awesome project. How did you go about adapting the wheels and brakes?
Welded up the 5 holes on the Dana 44 hub then re-drilled to the Late model F150 6 bolt. The Dana 44 hub was within .010 of the 150. THen made brackets to adapt the F-150 brakes. I posted a short on how true the brake/wheel adaption is a few days ago. I simply used the F150 rotor for proper drilling of the Dana 44 hubs. I will be giving more details as progress is made. Right now it's fitting it all together making it work prior to teardown for body/paint and final finish. I want to use a lot of the electronics to make it a really nice driver that has great power and MPG. It will have locking diffs front and rear.
I want to do that with a 94-96 F150
@Thomas Olson It’s a direct bolt in.
Its gorgeous. I've been day dreaming about a 1995 F150 like my Dad had with an engine swap
@Thomas Olson I am doing 2 more Ecoboost swaps right now. Plus a 2023 7.3 gasser with 10 speed. Al in 1966 Ford Trucks.
Owned an almost identical car in 1971-1972 when I was a senior in high school. Absolutely loved it, had to sell it when going into the service. Same interior and everything. Mine had 4 on the floor.. it was bitchin.
They are great cars! Thanks much for taking time to reply!
That's a wonderful story. My dad had a 1965 F250 custom cab camper special in solid no trim caribbean turquoise color with cream white grille and front bumper. I'm searching for this same truck dad had and one day hope to find and purchase it just as a Sunday driver. The 1965 and 1966 are almost identical with exception of the front grille which I personally prefer but nobody reproduces. They all make the 1966 variant. What guages did you use to fit inside the stock guage cluster bezel?
@mysteriomarvel933 sounds like a nice truck! What got me started on these trucks was when dad pulled into driveway October 1965 with a brand new 1966 F100 red with red interior. I am building clone of it now. I have a perfect 1965 Grille just not sure which truck i will use it in. Dash cluster used in this truck original bezel was from 2018 F150 donor truck.
That "orange one" will be hard to top on the fun meter!
@Shawn63200 And you were the only other person that got to drive it other than me!
@shawn63200 which orange one?
KZread, STOP RUNNING ADS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES ON ENGLISH VIDEOS. STOP IT
@tompastian3447 you made another post can you re-post it? I went to hit reply and somehow deleted it. What ads are you seeing?
@@randysrestoration KZread has frequently been running ads in Spanish on English videos. I call them out on it whenever they do. It really makes no sense for advertisers to have their ads in foreign languages or to offend those who watch videos. I have occasionally made complaints to radio stations that broadcast in English but will insert Spanish ads.
Killer 😎👍
Way to go Randy and Mel! It’s alive!
Thanks! We did take it for short drive yesterday. Sure drives different! Working on my own stuff today but hoping we can wrap it up next week. Need to charge the AC and get the bumpers on and adjusted. They simply do not fit right vs the stock chassis. Will need modification of sorts. Still need to figure out what tire wheel package to go with as wheels that were on it prior to frame swap no longer fit. Engine in new chassis is a inch or two further forward so the cooling fans to not fit. Always something.
I'm working on an XJ650 Seca my buddy gave me. Going to be cool to get it running.
My daddy had a 1966 Mercury cyclone GT 390/4 speed, red with white stripes with red interior I was born in 1964 so I know I was not conceived in it haha 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
How long did he own car?
I had a 66 with 390 4 spd No power steering or brakes , white with red interior and red stripes ! Got quite a few speeding tickets !……
Sounds fun! At 21 i bought a 1967 Mercury Capri R code. 425hp 427. Not a single ticket.
Badass
Thanks!
I have a yamaha xj900rk seca out in the shed that needs a tank.
This is my cup of tea!!!!!
Randy Just amazing....
Monster
Sooo. Cool.
AMAZING!!!
Appears to be a Chevy ls oil pan and trans
I see an ls engine, 99% certain. Oil pan, knock sensor, starter bolt holes...I gotta know now!
1956 Fairlane
Year is correct. Make model not. 9” ford diff but hint is engine/transmission = make of car
1956 Chevy Superglide and a 265 🤔 😂
@@jp360ford2’56 BelAir 4L60E with LS3 crate engine. Roadster Shop spec chassis.
@@randysrestoration dang. The “weird” looking oil pan should have been a dead giveaway. 😂 I was thinking it was original but with some upgrades. Definitely the latter. That was fun! You should do another one! 👍🏻
I thought the automatic GT was a GTA. maybe that is Fairlane GTA =automatic GT= manual Just what I thought. That is a beautiful car! My favorite car. And the 1967.
In the fairlane yes. Cyclone GT could be 4 spd, C6 or mid year Sport Shift (C-6) This car does have the Sport Shift version.
I miss mine, from thirty some odd years ago, at least once a week. Man did I love that car.
Man shes a beaute
Thanks! Just paint and thorough cleaning and few wear n tear items.
Well done! your projects are unique and very impressive! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment!
That is one nice looking set of wheels Randy.
We painted it 26 yrs ago. Held up well.
One of these was my first bike
You should fix the A/C !!
Debating on fixing the Monkey Wards AC or installing a OEM In dash. Either way it will have AC soon.
@randysrestoration my friend got a '66 Cyclone GT for graduation in the summer of 1968 - 390 bored til hell wouldn't have it, bunch of 406 stuff in it - 4 speed with 3.50's. It was quick - he's kicked himself for selling it ever since (1971). Nice ride you've got !!
Okay I've always dreamt about throwing in a 12th gen interior (with those gauges) and this style dash in my 2001 F-150. My dad has a 2012 Lariat and I've always loved the interior on those, especially those gauges. This is absolutely amazing and I can't imagine how long this must've taken especially to get everything to work. Props to you!
Was going down to maybe buy a 66 cyclone but someone beat me to it last year!🤦🤷
Beautiful car
Thanks!
Love it.
**** I have recent respect for the EcoBoost. I was at my local cars and coffee, and a guy had swapped the 2.3L EcoBoost crate engine/manual transmission into a 89 Foxbody Notchback. (Looked like grandma 's car. Dark brown over light brown interior) It had Intake, tune, full exhaust, with 3.89 rear gears. It was very surprising, and quick AF. Epic sleeper build!!!
This truck ran 13.0 @ 105 with major traction issue. 420hp 532tq to tire just tuned. Last truck swap made 603hp 658tq to tire on E51 tune only. The 658tq was by 3200 rpm. Still have 2 more EcoBoost swaps in ford trucks plus a 7.3 zilla 10R140, one of my daily drivers is a Gen3 Coyote. Make each one a bit different. Have 5 FE/FT trucks also. 11 trucks total.
@@randysrestoration That's awesome man! Jealous! I wanna Godzilla swap an Excursion, and do the upgraded/updated Platinum, or King Ranch interior. The 5.0 Coyote is my favorite modern engine!
@@COBHC8890 sounds fun! The crew cab getting the zilla will have King Ranch interior
Is the Godzilla engine easy to work with? I heard it’s somewhat smaller than a coyote.
Eats hemis for breakfest
Probably the would be the CID needed to properly use the ports on those SOHC heads, which were already super large for the NASCAR track.
was never allowed to run in nascar. More of a drag racing engine
Hemi killer
Hell yeah it’s a hemi killer
You're killing me...67 Cougar is my favorite, AND a SOHC engine...man o man...
Wow!
Nice car.
This is hard bro !
Thanks!
Perfect so much nicer then a Cheval
Silent killer 🥷
I’m selling it tomorrow. I will regret it for the rest of my life.
