  I had a few struggles previously but this time I had many big suitcases so I was allowed to get on the platform 20 mins earlier. It was also rush hour and the station was a small city so many trains passed through

  Don't get your hopes up, because it's not the end for the Intercity 225's! They'll be going to a new operator next year! A new express operator named Grand Union will be taking over from CrossCountry next year, and they'll be having the remainder of the Intercity 225's, along with the remaining Class 91's that LNER still has, plus new Stadler Class 93 tri-mode locos for use on non-electrified lines, and to cover for shortages of Class 91's on mainline services. They'll run from London Euston to Stirling, along the WCML. Plus, Grand Union will also be getting IEP's for use on the South Wales Mainline from London to Carmarthen, which are gonna have private compartments in first class!
