    Not completely related but an exact year ago I almost died from necrotizing fasciitis. A gash I got on my back (half the size of a dime) from banging myself into a piece of furniture became infected with strep, a freak accident said the doctor. A day and a half later I became septic and underwent two emergency surgeries to remove the infected fascia down to my muscle. I am blessed to be alive and have gained an astronomical appreciation for my fascia.

    I wish my doctors were not so judgemental and flat out detached from ever understanding what I go through. I get treated like a criminal every 20 days.... 12 surgeries, 3 of them back fusions that all failed L5-S1. In pain all day everyday, but here in Jacksonville, FL, they treat you like a gd criminal because you are FUBAR from your military service. I am 90% rated with NINE VA ratings. Meaning 9 different disabilities they gave me when I retired. Didn't fight for a single one, so that tells you how bad off I am. They screw us daily (the VA). So they had no choice, but yet still found a way to calculate me @ 90% with 9 different ratings. My highest rating is Fibromyalgia 40%, which somehow beats my back @ 20%. So tired of being told what I can use and when to use it. Those rules the govt makes only creates more problems for people who have no self control and the ability to use medication properly. I have discipline, but I also don't want to be a burden on my wife and kids, because I can barely move. So let me decide what I want to take FFS. That is what this country's freedom was all about. Making choices for ones self, as long as those choices did not cause harm to others.

    Thank you so much for validating my feelings. I have lived with this for 10 years and yes the worst part of it is not being the wife you want to be the daughter you want to be the sister you want to be, the mother and the grandmother you want to be etc.. I live in my pajamas, almost every day because it’s too uncomfortable to wear clothes lying down. I never know from one day to the next if it’s going to be level three pain or level eight and above. No one can understand it unless they’ve lived it. My whole life changed when the pain started, and it never stopped. I had to stop teaching kindergarten and be tested and poked and prodded and biopsied and sent to the lab and scanned and sent to so many specialists and treated like a lab rat for years and still no clear diagnosis for all the widespread inflammation. For anyone that reads this, I understand. The fear and anxiety is awful because you slowly lose your independence and you don’t know what’s coming next and you feel like a hamster on a wheel just trying to keep up with daily activities like showering and washing your hair and doing your nails and feeling like a human being. My heart goes out to you. I have so much gratitude that my husband has stuck by me and is a complete prince. I highly recommend talking with a pain therapist or a life coach. I also used to think that meditation was silly because I didn’t understand it and boy I understand it now. Guided meditations and hypnotic meditations really work. I’ve had to go through so many different drugs trying to figure it all out and having so many side effects and still on pain medication that made my hair brittle my skin and my eyes dry and has made me exhausted. I have seven grandchildren and having been a kindergarten teacher you can imagine how much I want to do with them and I just can’t. I push myself to the max when they are around and I forget my pain but I pay when they leave sometimes per days sometimes for weeks. My father is now gone into assisted-living this year which just turned my world upside down because I want to be with him all the time. I push myself to try and get there once a week, but wish I could be there every day and FaceTime with him during the week and send him mail. No one could possibly understand how difficult this all is and it is definitely almost worse emotionally even though the physical pain is horrible.

    I totally agree with the moving on from the "single muscle to blame perspective". Yestersay I woke up with tightness in my right hip. I know enough about my body to understand that if I do a certain set of yoga stretches before bed then I won't have this problem. I had not stretched the night before. I went to work, did a lot of lifting and driving and despite taking a stretch break; by the end of the day my right psoas was super tight and causing lower back discomfort. I did some psoas release exercises for temporary relief. That didn't fix this problem because the tight psoas is the result my body compensating for (temporary) tension and reduced mobilty in other mucles. And the tension was the result of what i did with my body (too much sitting, not enough movement) in the preceeding days. It seems to me that focusing on pain, ignoring potential causes and expecting quick/ medical fixes is the outcome of a culture that encourages us to live in our heads and detatch from our bodies.

    I have been suffering from a flare-up of myofascial trigger points for the last 4 months. I woke up one fine day with neck and back tightness and get pain on a daily basis at very specific trigger points around the scapula and upper trapezius. I have been doin dry needling, TENS, massage, stretching and back strengthening exercises but nothing seems to work. My back and neck are so tight that i can’t even look down because I get a cervicogenic headache. This is greatly affecting my quality of life and I can’t function as well as I used to before. It’s put me to a point of becoming very anxious and depressed 😔😔

    I had a left arm frozen shoulder that after 3 years of physical therapy and injections and all that wouldn't work properly. I ended up doing surgery and they had to pump my joint with fluid and pull my arm all over the place to mobilise it. Now, almost 2 years after that bad experience, ai started to feel the symptoms in my right shoulder. This time I immediately started doing acupuncture and the standard work with weights I did post surgery. Within a week all the tension and pain were gone. I don't know what the SST system is doing exactly, but for me accupuncture and regular training did wonders.

    High Impact Chronic Pain HICP 12 million Americans suffering needlessly. 🇺🇸 We finally have a name, as of about 2015, for the disabling disorder of a routine daily, widespread, chronic pain affliction that restricts it’s sufferers from most gainful employment options and disables them from most of the activities that non-afflicted people take for granted. About the same time they were giving it a name (2015?) the medical community had begun to severely limit the one medication that these 12 million people, almost all of them, said significantly reduced their pain and suffering, improved their sleep, and gave them enough pain relief to engage in healthy physical activities for some part of most days. Why did we cut them off of their meds? Why did we increase their suffering and poor sleep? Because there was a 0.58% risk that an interaction with medicines for anxiety such as co-prescribed benzodiazepines could cause respiratory depression and they could fatally overdose. So instead of a half of one percent risking death we have 90% of them now hoping for it . You can’t make this $h’t up. It really happened. And it still is going on. And now we still have a very low risk of these people dying from legally prescribed opioids, but now we have over 100,000 people dying from illegal opioids every year since 2019. And many suffering from HICP are now at greater risk of suicide because of them being in constant severe pain even though there is a medicine that can relieve much of their suffering. Again, you can’t make this $h’t up. 🇺🇸

    I have been teaching this method in my chair yoga classes for years now! I regularly come back to rewatch to give myself a refresher. I think you explain so clearly, yet simply what is going on, which is a gentle reminder to me to not over complicate my teaching with knowledge. H.E.L.P - so easy! My clients always seem surprised they are able to do this without using the chair to push them up! I say "we're going to practice our sit to stand now" and it's smiles all round! I've added to it the importance of lowering back into the chair in a controlled manner rather than crashing down speedily, to help strengthen the thighs. I hope that everything I show my clients helps them with their everyday tasks, not just benefiting them whilst they attend my classes.

    This is exactly how I really messed up my back one year. Sitting all day commuting and in lectures in grad school, then doing over the top physical activities in a dance major collegiate ballet class a couple times a week. And I had no idea what myofascial release was at the time and only did stretching. None of my doctors knew about it either and no one knew what was wrong with me and no treatments worked. I couldn’t walk without sharp back pain for about 6 months. Thankfully now I avoid anything like this happening again with fascial release work.

    Thank you for the question. There is no way to “improve the iliotibial band”, because it is a structure that does not exist, on you, right now. We hope that makes sense🙏 We are trying to educate people that if anyone tells them it’s their RT band that has no validity. They need to look at the symptoms and look at the bigger picture and look at what’s going on at the feet of the knees and the pelvis.

  • @RolferShannon
    @RolferShannon20 күн бұрын

    The IT band is the largest piece of fascia in the body. How do you improve it. First off never foam roll it. 😂 Balancing on one leg for as long as possible. Qigong exercises that have you bouncing on your front ball of your foot. Having a fascia therapist work on the muscles of the quads, glutes and hamstrings and how they are able to spontaneously function into pullers, holding steady or releasing. She's just trying to say leave the IT band alone because messing with it is not going to do anything for any thing. Most likely the problem that is going on is with muscle (s) that surrounds the hip joint.

  • @Life360Summit
    @Life360Summit19 күн бұрын

    We are definitely in agreement re please leave it alone! lol We would argue that not just muscles would be the cause of the issues. They would simply be a part of the assessment.

    So idk if you reply to comments but here's my thought process... First a question is the Hypermobility due to collagen not establishing properly? Or the body not being able to properly establish and maintain them like a degenerative disease. Stretching seems counter intuitive although I've heard a lots of people recommend it. If you're already hyper mobile wouldn't stiffening the ligements and setting joint better logically make sense? (setting the joint I mean just tightening the soft tissue around it instead of further loooesning it) I'd wager if you were going to traun than though it may be counter intuitive to recovery and adaptation to take anti inflammatoriez given the pain associated with this illness it would warrenty reduced benefits, and maybe even something like a topical anagelsic gel to reduce or number the pain. I'd also wagerhan cold therapies would help a lot too, 1 as a anagelsic, 2 to reduce inflammation, 3 to stiffen the connective tissues. I feel like isometrics would be great for this too. I used isometrics to increase my range of motion by going beyond my ROM but my rom was limited. If a person with Hypermobility can train the ROm they should have and not the ROM they have this could teach them proper rom, proper mecahncis, and strengthen the soft connective TISSUES and muscles that have been compensating another thing would be massages. The stretching recommendation I've heard is because the muscle are compensating for the soft tissue, so they tend to shrink a bit due to misuse. I've learned that there's 3 phsycial ways to hit a muscle. Excersise, stretching, and massages-they have they're own sub categories too but those are the 3 main branches besides like rest and diet but I mean active means. In summary to my poorly typed comment... What causes eds? And will my recommendation help anyone in theory logically speaking? I feel like they would, even talking to my PT he seems to know more finer details about it, but honestly as a civilian these all make sense to me.

  • @Anotherclevername20

    Oh I'm not done. Would a collagen peptide power help if it contains more than just type 1 and 3 but also 2, maybe even more forms of it. Maybe even a homemade bone broth... Hmmm I know a collagen peptides shot would have a better benefits.

    Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your entire life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?.
