Looking forward to seeing how your build progresses. I just bought a used 1991 13' Alaskan Smokey C. I like it a lot, especially the tall transom & sides/gunwales. Lotsa freeboard is nice. Came with a pull/ellectric start 15 horse Johnson, and a Minn Kota electric. Mine has 3 benches, but I really l ike the split middle bench you have on yours. Curiously, both capacity and weight ratings on mine are a tad heavier. I wonder if that's due somehow to the complete middle bench? Otherwise, my older version seems very similar to yours.......

So, you managed to draw in or somehow catch a wild honey bee colony?? Good on you!!! Been trying to do that myself. Our first two colonies we bought both died in the winter. We live in Sandy, OR, near Mt. Hood. We get quite a lot of rain, and I wonder if that's what's killing them?

I have the 13 foot alaskan with a 20 inch transom, 20 HP Mercury, goes well and fishes way bigger than it is!!!

I got the same boat. Mine is 10 years old. I recently changed the plywood in the transom and removed all foam from the bottom of the boat because I was afraid that with uses in the salt water and salt water spray, we get around here that it would hold the salt and start to corroded the aluminum. It was starting to happen with the aluminum in the transom. I also removed the foam in the 2 seats in the middle and put hinges on them to use for storage when I first got the boat and put a hatch in the side of the back seat to add more storage.
