Awesome video! How did you tourqe down the springs without the top plate spinning?
Hello Mate, Van I ask a couple of very simple questions? I have just bought a 1999 ZZR600 that needs a bit doing to it, I want to take the tank off, am I right in thinking that as long as I leave the fuel tap closed I won't have petrol pouring out, other than then the open end of the fuel line which I will plug? Your bike looks great by the way.
Hi.. yes providing the tap is in the 'off' position you should be good to go. There will still be a bit of a dribble but it's only what's in the pipe. Just make sure you have a cloth to hand.... Thanks for watching...!!
@@torquewrenchmax Cheers mukka.
woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaww i love it sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers... Thanks for watching...!!
Looking forward to the next one hopefully not to long to wait
Yes ... having a bit of a break then going to start a new one.... Not sure what yet....?????? Thanks for watching...
Perfectly done sir!
Thanks a lot.... Much appreciated.....
I use red rubber grease as well (the Granville stuff seems to be the easiest to apply). I tend to put some in the seal grooves prior to putting the seals in so provide some protection from corrosion. A small paint brush (from a model shop) works nicely for painting the grease in evenly.
Hi.. Never thought about using a brush...Top Tip. Thanks for watching...
man keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to me. I have an Kawasaki ZZ-R 600 from 1998 and i have to make an overhaul just like you do!
Go for it.... All the best.... thanks for watching.....👍
Thanks for the update look forward future videos
Cheers ... more videos soon, Need to finish the ZZR, then ride it !
The rain is a pain. Garage is full so have to work on bikes outside (if the garage wasn't full I would probably have bought more bikes!) And need to cerakote some parts so progress on my FZ750 is limited at the moment.
Outside... ouch. Not good. Hoping for some fine weather then! Is cerakote expensive as I have heard of it, but never used it? Thanks for watching, Hoping to get more videos soon. Need some sunshine to play out on the bike!!!
@@torquewrenchmax , not cheap but not too expensive. It is a very thin coating and good for brake calipers, engine casing, etc. Works very well on aluminium. You spray it on quite thinly and then bake it for abou an hour at 150 degrees (I have an oven in the garage for this) - sometimes I part bake it (100 degrees for 10~15 minutes), then give it another coat from a different angle (to avoid gaps I missed the first time!). I need to get the fork lowers and yokes done, but need it to be dry. then the bike can be a rolling chassis. Brake calipers, etc, not so urgent. If you put it on too thick it tends to blister when baked.
Thanks for that.... might just give it a go..!!
First time seeing a carb put back together! Really uselful thanks. Not nearly as frightening as I thought! Awesome 😃
Glad you watched!!! It's not that bad. One step at a time. Look out for the next one, I'll start to build the bike up. Cheers.
Hope you’ve still got the GPZ1000RX if you have you could come and say hello on UK/IRL GPZ1000RX owners club. Hope you do.
Hello... yes I still have the Rex. Just want some good weather to get the tank painted, then an mot. Thanks for watching.
@@torquewrenchmax you should come on the owner club. A good bunch of lads. Your paint work on your bike is impressive. I’ve done some on mine. If you visit the owners club be good to talk.
Thanks... I don't have a facebook account an that will not change soon after a bad experience. Thank you for the input.
As a ZZR fan I am really enjoying these videos, thanks for posting them
Many Thanks.... That makes it worthwhile...!!!!! Cheers
Great videos for the home mechanic to follow, manuals are very good, but seeing it done always helps. I work on my own bikes and over the years have rebuilt engines with the help of videos like this 👍🏻
Thanks for watching......😊😊
Hello. Do you have a video of you timing the engine? drive with the same engine, and when I follow the marks on the camshaft it is wrong
Hi yes it's coming up....I timed it up then checked it with the manual. Thanks for watching
If you send me your email I'll send you a link.
Who makes the engine stand you are using?
Hi ... It's a Sealey item. No.MES02 There's an authorized Sealey seller on ebay. It's item No.142181366703 Thanks for watching.
@@torquewrenchmax , thank you
Sometimes circlips are known as “oh sh!t” clips, to go with what is said when they ping into the corner of the garage!
... Usually under a workbench with all the dust and spiders...!!!
You can easily over bore the cylinders by 2mm to use stock 66mm ZX6R G2 pistons, which gives 637cc or go to 67mm and use the Wiseco pistons for the ZX6R G2 which takes you to 657cc. If you open up the combustion chambers and unshroud the valve area the head can be skimmed by 30 thou. Which combined with a Dynojet kit and PiperCross filter will liven the thing up significantly.
Thanks for watching.... I like to keep things a little less lively, wow that sounds like track type tuning!!!!
Hiya. Interesting series. Can I make a small suggestion? Can you lower the volume on the intro music please, as it is substantially louder than the rest of the video. Thank you and sorry! The brass brushes in a Dremel are useful. I tend to use them a lot when rebuilding brakes.
Hi.... Thanks for the input..... I'm glad you pointed it out because I was not sure what the volume should be. Will drop it down half on the next one.... Let me know... Cheers....
@@torquewrenchmax thank you
Yup, exactly how it should be done. Makes my teeth hurt when I see people just chucking up the valve without the bit of hose for flex.
Thanks for commenting. I have cringed many times while watching videos!!!

12.27.23. 💁🏻♂️The Aluminum cases…They’re a good candidate for Vapor Blasting®️ nice looking 👀 job🤗
Thank you..!!! I just wanted a long lasting, maintenance free option. Had it been an 80's classic then it would be worth the expense, as I don't have access to a vapour blaster. But yes I do like the vapour blasted finish.... Thanks for watching.
looking good, but, ......i would have cleaned all the moulding marks off, ejector pins and die joints marks, but thats just me, still looking good though
Hi.. thanks for watching.... Good point about the castings. To be honest I did consider going the full hog... It was mostly about protecting the ally with a coating. On balance on an unfaired bike the engine would look really spot on thoroughly ground off and maybe vapour blasted...?. Cheers.
Another great watch. Loved seeing the masking process and difference from the oxidation, great work! 👍
Thanks 👍
Cheers mate !!!!!
Thank you for the special mention! - K
Any time...!!! Thank you for watching....!!
A great watch while having lunch at work. 👌
Thank you... Watch out for more coming real soon..!!
'promo sm'
Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Many apologies for the shaky camera!!!!
Brill, looks great 🎉
Cheers...!!
Huge help! Very well done thank you so much. Is the rear end pretty straight forward? I have a 2003 ZZR 600 I’m currently putting back together
Many thanks..... have just uploaded the video for the rear end.....Check it out kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqOYpsuiY9GqeNI.html Best of luck with your bike!!!!!
Brill. These are so handy. Thank you. Will have to show u some pictures of my ongoing project.
Love to see it....Thank You
Again, my bolts were all seized in. Had to use lots of heat. One is still snapped off in the leg, yet to drill it out. Got a few weeks, as the legs are away for a re chrome. Have subscribed.
Thank you.... Watch those seized in bolts.... Tiny tiny drill to start.... If you can get your hands on new drills that's always the way...I normally start with a 2.5 or 3mm drill, gently not a lot of pressure bit of WD40 for lube. Kawasaki bolts are reasonably soft to drill. My 3 key points....Gently bit of oil for lube and most importantly sharp drill. Best of luck.
That glove box one caught me out when i first got the bike. Ended up breaking the panel. 😢
Its a sneaky little blighter........
This has been so handy! Had my panels off nearly a year! Hadn't a clue how they go back on. Still got to paint em.😢
Thank you for watching.!
Looks fantastic. I have an ongoing project, also an E5. 10k miles on it.
Great!!! I hope in the future to do another zzr series but this time for a bare frame with engine rebuild...............Thanks for watching
@@torquewrenchmax that will be great. Look forward to it.
Red ones are quicker 😂😂😂
mmm..... it was speeded up.....😂😂😂😂😂😂
