Hey dude! Cool video! Your audio is a little quiet. Might want to turn your levels up a bit in the future. Larys is so insidious and the best part is it’s still fairly unclear what he wanted from the source material, so the show can play around with his motives a fair amount. I think the actor said something interesting in an interview leading up to the premiere that seems to sum it up nicely. He said Larys wants to have an impact, the bigger the better, and beyond that it’s fairly unclear what his allegiances are. But the fact that he featured heavily in the Dance at multiple stages of the conflict and that people are still puzzling over his motivations as a notion of academic interest WAS his goal. For his name to be remembered. Which is an interesting and nebulous take. Also: I think he’s a warg and a greenseer, how about you?

A major point of Rhaenerya's character is that if she had done everything she has as a man, no one would care. Her brother has countless bastards that he does not care for and is literally infamous for groping and raping serving women. Rhaenerya has 3 bastards who have been legally legitamized in all ways possible (claimed by her husband Laenor, claimed by her husband's family the Velaryons, and affirmed by the king), is a dutiful mother to all of them, and clearly valued and loved all of her sexual companions (her Uncle Daemon, her personally chosen sworn protector Criston Cole, and her longterm lover Harwin Strong). She doesn't want to be a sad woman pumping out heirs like Alicent--she said as much to her. Rhaenerya is a woman who wants to have fun and love. Yet even though she is a stark constrast to the depraved sexual activity of Aegon, she is still a woman. That's the goddamn point. Being a woman in Westeros is hard. You are absolutely not meant to side with the sexist standards placed on women in this society. George writes female characters good, and I mean really fucking good. He would never put that much care into his female characters, making them feel like real people trapped in a backwards time, if he meant for us as the audience to judge them like the people of Westeros do. Absolutely not. Rhaenerya is indeed a gray character, this is the beauty of George's writing. Women get to be written as people too. People are not villains or heroes, they are people who do things right and do things wrong. To diminish the status of any character in ASOIAF to a villain (with some rare exceptions such as clear sociopaths like Ramsey Bolton, Biter, etc) is to ignore what this story is about. You're really not getting anything out of this show or this story if this is how you're thinking. That sucks, because it's good as hell.

Bloodraven was effective because he'd turned Westeros into a magical surveillance state. He was also mainly effective against Blackfyres while ignoring ironborn raiding. Egg wasn't trying to please the peasants but to give them more rights and freedoms directly protecting them from the powers and privileges of the nobility. There is no way to do that while pleasing the nobility. These takes only make sense if you believe the sole point of ruling is to gain even more power and maintain nominal peace, regardless of the cruelty through which you achieve it. Asoiaf is full of good intentions crushed by ineffective execution. Egg struggles with that as well, but this analysis is just wholly cynical.

I just found your channel & glad I did so, & noticed you are likely just kicking off? (w/ only 2 videos as of now) I was hoping you might consider this topic as I have yet to hear anyone really break this down. Everyone says, "The Wytewalkers" or "The Wytes" ; yet, The army & hordes, as they seem & act, are both WYTES & thr "Dead Men" as Sam clearly & distinctly differentiates between the two in Season 3 As I have not yet read more than #GOT in thr #ASOIAF Saga. Is it Canon that "Dead Men" are just that, dead men as controlled puppet vesels, re-animated & controlled as a Hive Mind, or are they individually autonomous after turning? Ehich appears to require death. But how do dead men arise in the North, simoly by dying in the North? & why does it seem most people speak about them or include them as "Wytes" ? I just have not yet seen anyone break this all down peoperly and distinctive as THE WYTES + THE DEAD-MEN & if these are Green Seers corrupted by something in the North or was it brought over ? or What does history say or know if anything, thats been shared with the Children of the Forest? Or, was the First Wyte their making which then fused or mutated further into somwthing more after they had sacrificed and ritualistically turned a Man into A Wyte, but was that man yhen a Warg or Green Seer then? Or was the ritual somehow changing them down to the genetics and DNA ? Where are the Females? are there WYTE QUEENS ?.

Thanks for the support. I’m not too knowledgeable on this topic. The white walkers aren’t my specialty when it comes to ASOIAF but what I can say is wights are like zombies who are a product of the white walkers (at least in the show).

You say that Aegon should have just increased the rights of the peasants without hurting the nobility but don’t provide any examples of how that could be done. The nobility’s main privilege was rights over their peasants, the interests are opposed. It also probably was a smart move to remove blood raven. Aegon was trying to stabilize the realm and keeping someone who dishonored the house and was widely loathed wouldn’t have been a great move with

Aegon’s son Jaehaerys II was able to get the nobles back on the crown’s side without angering the smallfolk. I don’t think it really mattered if Bloodraven dishonored the house because what could anyone have done about it? Bloodraven was very helpful for the Targaryen dynasty which had been in decline since the dance of the dragons so I think sending him to the wall did more harm than good

Hey, well done on a great video! I’ve never considered some of these before. But I think that maybe not all of them are entirely Aegons fault. Many of Targaryens had poor relationships with their children and there were many Targaryen princes and princesses who did similar things to the great houses of the realm. I do agree that their actions could have damaged relations to the iron throne but as we can see with Luther Tyrell and Lady Olenna, some of the lords and ladies involved might have been just as happy as Aegons children were to call off the betrothals. Of course some might have had different reactions. His decision to send Bloodraven to the wall was a lot deeper than you described it to be. If the prophecy of Aegon I is true then you can assume he sent him to bolster the walls defences. Take into account that he sent many of blood ravens spies (who were all skilled warriors) and his own brother with him tells you there was more to it than a simple punishment. This is further backed up by the fact that Bloodraven was allowed to take Dark Sister, a Valyrian steel sword, to the wall. Why would Aegon let him keep a priceless Targaryen heirloom if he truly saw him as a traitor or an oathbreaker? This was also at a time where magic was an all time high amongst Targaryens since the dragons died. Aegon himself and all of his brothers had experienced dragon dreams and Bloodraven and Shiera Sea-Star were known sorcerers and users of dark arts. I think all of that puts a very different spin on why Brynden Rivers was sent to the wall. It is a good video with an interesting script and excellent delivery. I just think you missed a bit here and there.
