its a great place to ride, small area but trails are so good. good place to setup suspension as well.
Skillfully navigated through the tech of Thornielee, always good to see the different trails you can ride here, these trails seemed to have became more popular recently, thanks for sharing!
Hey there, great vid on Thornielee. I very recently watched your last one when you were there in the snow! Also visited this myself about 2 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the place. I first saw your vids of this place 3 years ago, and it's taken me this long to work up the skill and courage do to them!
When riding here what do you guys do to get to the top? Are you riding up?
We take a single shuttle up from evolve bike shop/finale bikers and then do a route from there taking in a few trails. Would recommend them!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB excellent thanks very much for the info, riding looks fantastic! We are planning a trip here next year 😁
Ridden here once on a very tired set of legs! Cant wait to return! Great riding and great VLOG 👍
Haha the climbs aren’t forgiving for tired legs. Thanks, never a bad ride here!
Trails look in good condition and running well.. I'm still waiting to see a video on SNIPER at Yair
Yeah the ones we rode were running great. Ahah we do need to ride it sometime! It’s got quite the reputation!
Lovely vid , as always!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cracking vid guys nice ridin too. Awesome stuff n techy gnar. See you on the nxt 1 👏
Thanks! Yeah it’s a good place for fast techy trails!
Great place to ride, I think top dogging must be my favourite track
Isn’t it. Never had a bad ride there!
Rad
Laura, you are indestructible... Respect💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🚴🏻♀️
Thanks ☺️
Yair?
Yep!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB Awesome. I'm 5 miles away from it and have still to visit. We're gonna rectify that very soon.
This is for having a wee jobbie
Hi guys do you have a strava link for this ride pleases
Yep here you go. This is our Strava for just doing this mast side strava.app.link/4pask6y8HKb
Love your awesome videos, subscribe
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them!
Laura I think with one or 2 more goes. You would have got further. Laura your the winner. 😁😁😁
Haha I’ll take that 🤣
Another great video! I am going to do this very soon! - what tyres are you running on the bikes please?
Thanks! In this we were running the Michelin wild enduros but now running the Michelin ms tyres. Great for grip in all conditions! Enjoy when you go!
Is the guy Welsh, Zimbabwean or Russian? I'm usually pretty good with guessing accents, but this one keeps changing continents. That looked really tricky btw.
Zimbabwean is definitely a new one from guesses over the years 😂. It’s Czech Republic neutralised a bit with living in Scotland for so long. Yeah was a tough descent this one!
I was going to try to nail this in one day. Summer Puffer training 😂.
Haha good luck 🤣
Going for the first time this weekend, any tips?
Ah hope you had a good time! Can’t go wrong with most of the natural trails and dh track :)
Impressivley skilled riding whilst out bikepacking especially short travel on steep trails, was in Ballater last year yet to check out Aboyne. Great adventure and mix of trail types thanks for sharing! 😁
Thanks yeah it was testing in places! Aboyne is great and plenty more trails on the hill too. Glad you enjoyed it, was a fun one to film and edit!
A great big thank you guys for letting me enjoy a really hard and wet and technical ride from the comfort of my cycling couch.
haha you're welcome! Enjoyed sharing this amazing route!
Wow that looks so so hard wow
yeah it was a tough route especially having the weather to contend with!
3:00 Looks lovely. My idea of Heaven.
that was a goooood flow section! Enjoyed it a lot!
Some shift Laura!! Well done - fantastic!!👊
thanks it was a tough old route! Some good trails to keep the stoke up!
It was good to see a lot of my old haunts as I grew up in Tarland fifty plus years ago and as a boy cycled all over on my road bike from Aberdeen to Balmoral with a couple of friends but have always hankered to get out into the wilderness on a bike and explore some of the tracks I see travelling back to Deeside from the Central Belt that meander into the hills. I now have the perfect tool my eMTB but age is not on my side but not done yet I hope. I never really remember the Midge growing up that was until I moved to Kintyre and then on to The Isle of Lewis where they are bred differently so I felt your pain with the bites as they always seem to go for my mouth also and anywhere else that is exposed.
Lovely place to grow up. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully with the eMTB you can explore some of those routes! I'll definitely be doing some more up that way. Spectacular riding and views to match. Haha I can imagine the midgies are brutal there - they do say the west is on another level for them!
Thanks Guys Looks Brilliant Another great Video.
Thanks!
Well Done Laura Loved the video looks hard going.
Thanks! Yeah it was tougher than I expected!
Excellent video but oh my word those bites looked rough.
Thanks! Worst night of the year 😂
Looks like a great few days, except for the midge anyway! I wouldn't have made it through the night!
Haha yeah it was super but I do want to forget that night 🤣
Had to turn the sound down. Was getting worried the neighbours would think I'm watching a different type of content 😅
🤣
Another great adventure well captured Laura. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Ooooh new vid new vid ❤ That looks like a lot of fun. Wish we had wide nature like that.
We are lucky to have such good mountains and landscapes. Just wish we had the weather to match!
That was fantastic laura mate. U smashed it too. Another great vid hunni x jst a shame about the midg artacks
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Aw I know, the midgies are a killer 😂
The dog 100% it's to cute to say no
Such an amazing place and awesome video! my 11 year old calls it home and is delighted to have just nailed big line! kzread.infowHWhq77SEXc?si=NPvrF2Fs58_vldZC
Totally saved me a stressful few days!!!
Haha glad it helped 😂
Brilliant vid, stunning scenery. I like yer style - camping to do the Devil's Staircase first thing👏Did this about 20 years ago and wished I'd stopped at The Green Welly. Loch Lomond bit still looks hellish. Is your bike for these trips different from your enduro one? With bikepacking stuff it can feel really weird getting the balance right on techy bits. Looking forward to your Deeside Trail vid.
Thanks! Yeah that worked so well to have a nice quiet descent! Green welly is good but I would not recommend the porridge 🤣. Yep I use a short travel 100mm xc bike so it’s about 11kg without the kit on it and pedals well. Great to hear, almost finished editing that one!
I cycled that route 6 years ago, did it over 3 days. That first day traversing loch lomond was awful hahaha. That bit in the vid brought back some nightmares xD
Nice! Hahah I bet. It’s never ending that section! 😅 so brutal!
I biked it solo 3 years ago, i did Conich and the low route up Loch Lomond. Day 1 from Milngavie to Beinglass. Its been said before but nothing, no amount of research or talking to folk prepares you for that section. Another great video 🎉
Nice! It’s such a good route and the brutal parts definitely make it even more memorable 😂. Absolutely agree! Thanks!
Very nice Road! Greats from Corfu my Friends🎉 (we have to drink too much Ouzo today) 🤣 see you tomorrow ✌️
Haha! We had to go to bed early the next night after the ouzo the night before so missed the football 😂 we will be in the Barbados taverna tonight if you are there :)
Superb epic MTB ride - well done to you and your Bro. You should have filmed his bleary eyed face at 5am though 😂
Thanks! Hahah next time I won’t be so kind 😂
Pull harder
any good trails in velez-malaga area?
Lucky enough to live here and walk here daily x
nice! It's a great forest!
Well done. Great video . Ive always fancied doing the WHW, walking, but ive also wondered if you could do it by bike. I dont know if I would do it as quick as you, Id want to drag it out to take in the scenery. Would you say it is better to do it Fort William to Milngavie on a bike? 👍
Thank you! It's a great route by bike (except for the loch lomond section which can be avoided/rerouted if wished). I personally would say yes - the difficulty/enjoyment is very similar both ways but there's the big advantage of being able to see walkers coming (as most walk north) otherwise you will be constantly stopping and saying excuse me. Would be tiring the whole way!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB Thanks Laura. Great videos, have fun and enjoy. 👍
This looks brilliant man 🤩 love the way the description has been did on the video and stuff aswell .. quick question for an over nighter like this what’s the most important thing you felt you had took with you? Only if it’s not too personal of a question haha ,feel like I’m ready to do it but still a bit skeptical as I’ll most likely gonny be myself 😂 subscribed 🤘😎🏴
thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Haha well it's doable in a day with the amount of daylight in summer if you wanted to pack light and avoid overnight. If sleeping then just took absolute essentials - tent, mat, sleeping bag. I think, sunglasses, high energy bars/food (take more than you think you need!), a good waterproof jacket (weather can change so fast!), a small first aid kit - although there will be walkers aplenty. There are a few places to fill up water on route but some stretches don't have lots so I opted for carrying about 2l of water. Hope that helps and enjoy!!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB a bit of advice from someone who had done it them selfs goes along way 💪 thanks for the reply and enjoy the summer 🚲🤩
Great video. I walked the WHW many years ago over 8 days and loved it. The walk along the loch was mostly knee deep in mud. It was miserable, so I can’t imagine how tough it would be on a mtb. Well done.
Nice, It's some route isn't it. Yes that bit is pretty awful, it was never ending! Thanks!
Did you go the high road or low road from Inversnaid to Rowardennan?
just the west highland way path along by the loch
Been there done that, never again lol
hahah!
