We carried him to the party Put him in his favorite chair We had a promise that we had to honor That no one was to shed a tear He was murdered with affection The kind that doesn't really care Or maybe (just didn't see it) Until we saw him in his/a chair ((Words I can't figure out)) Just see him smile Come in just to get him riled he-he'll be coming to, in a little while He had nothing in his pockets Except a copy of The Ginger Man And I heard once That it was a tragedy But only to those who knew him One last (day/date?) of caring And then he said I love you world One last act of daring Before they came into his (game/gaze?) Didn't...want to see him fly No one in the room wanted him to fly but they...couldn't...wait to see him try ((Cannot get this line, please add it!)) When you kill a transformer They turn back into their old self He died on a rampage And then he changed into a man We all get another chance But without (fate/faith?) we'll never know That we'll never get past the worry Just run away on our plateau Love him tonight, love him tonight, love him till he changes back into a man (Repeats to end)

Chris, can't say enough how the video is such a poetic companion to the lyrics of the song. The song feels like a memoriam and the video beautifully pushes in and out on a person to capture that. I love the light in the background, the blurriness, the feeling of spying on a real moment. I have to ask -- did you know the people? Was this filmed with intent, or just found art? I love wondering if the main guy is actually seeing the camera for a second when he's on close up. Anyway, great filmmaking.
@cassflixАй бұрын
Wow, thank you. I truly love this one too. Such a great song, and I do think the simple approach of the video fits it well. I shot this at the Right Bank Cafe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A great bar that Vic played at regularly. It was like our second home. They kind of let us do whatever we wanted there. The guy in the video is the owner of the RBC, Kerry Smith, a truly lovable guy (and drunk lol) that was always there to welcome you. The intent was to slow zoom all the way in on him, and then back out. One take. I think I had a zoom control I was testing out. Anyway, really simple but glad to see it worked and you like it! So I'm pretty sure that VT wrote this song as a memoriam of sorts. Kinda like one guys last hurrah but I don't think it was about Kerry. So we just made the video about him. We did lose Kerry about 10 years ago and the RBC closed its doors in 2003.
@billyshelbyАй бұрын
@@cassflix Thanks for explaining that. Without knowing who Kerry Smith is, and hearing how much you obviously cared about him, I feel like he got memorialized very well in just this video, even if that was never meant to be the intent. Regardless of being a music video, it's just a lovely video portrait of a person.

This gig is AMAZING. Always felt Billy was one of the best frontman. Also, the best audence member. He changed my approach to watching bands in clubs. My bass player and I used to be "too cool for this" and lurk at the back of the club like jerks. Vic Thrill were playing one night and when the opening band came on, no one was on the floor. Billy went right up front, by himself, and shook along to the music, rocking out, dancing. It was just one of those moments where I was like, Yes. That's how you do it. Following this, we would do the same thing EVERY time we saw a band. What happens then is when people see you rocking out up front it makes them move up too. Then the gig getts better (bands feed off the energy they get from the crowd). Sets would go from empty floor to a crowd cheering them on with that simple gesture. God bless Billy 🤙
