@@jrmortel if the San Martin has no date window chances are there is a nh35 in it. It will absolutely work. The nh35 and nh38 are the same movement. The 38 just doesn't have the date complication.

Hi Heiko, great video! I have a question for you. I have a new to me 1975 R90S and the front desk calipers have some up and down movements when I brake and make a clicking sound. Is this normal? If not can this be somehow adjusted?

The calipers are mounted with an adjustable cam and the top and bottom of the caliper is supported by the aluminum casting of the fork slider. The aluminum surfaces can wear and give the caliper some vertical play. I recommend that you take your front wheel off and then take your calipers out of the fork sliders to inspect. All that is doable without disconnecting the brake lines. Cheers

Also, the push rods will easily spin/rotate when in TDC. Do you have a part number for the shim you used? Was the noise reduced after doing this?

I'll look for the part #s but if go to max BMW follow the link I provided you will all the different shims. I haven't ridden much since the video. Usually the bike is quiet in the beginning but after a couple thousand miles things start to widen and loosen up. I will give it a long term test before I can answer that question.

What I use is the simplest and fasted method.. tape together on the outside, and from the inside use superglue and then cover with bi carb soda, it cures fast and is rock hard. There are a lot of video's showing this super glue and bi carb trick This super glue method is fast and nasty. The part is then harder at the crack and is stronger than the rest of the plastic. I been trying to figure out how is the mortise and tenon joint made, specially the part which has been reinforced with a transverse little wood piece on one side of the saw between the brace and the arm. Please correct me if I am wrong: the tenon on both sides is made out of piece of metal and it is shaped like those biscuit from jointer machines. I increase the resolution at maximum and that is as much as I can figure out. ... As you mention indeed using hand tools is a pleasure, and... I intend to find pleasure while build it as well!

Question: I have a '76 R90/6 and I had learned a method to measure the fork oil levels by dipping from the top. I think one of my forks mayhave leaked a bit and want to balance the amount of oil to be the same in each. Anyone know what the level should be with the proper amount of oil (265cc). I show about 14.75cm in my forks now.

hi Titanium is scratch resistant but there is one problem, metal like Titanium getting with time oxidation and this thin layer will get so many scratches, I have 2 titanium watches and both looks like soft aluminium , coz this oxidation film on metal is so easy and ugly to sctatch.

Late reply but it is normal for the day to advance slower than the date and take a few hours. I have authentic Seikos with day date complications that do this. Also to your confusion at 27:40 (“anyways that’s Chinese for something” made me chuckle) English is always first so it advances through the second language before going to the correct day in English. In your case it ticked over from Thursday to four in Chinese (四) before going on to Friday.

Friend, should the NH35 movement be crown at 3.8

There are two versions of NH35, one is for a 3 o'clock position and the other is for a 4 o'clock position. As I understand it the 3 o'clock version can also be used for cases that have the crown at 3.8 due to the date wheel aligning with the window even when the crown is at 3.8. The 4 o'clock version is the one I used here. I know my crown is slightly past 4 o'clock but I haven't noticed no misalignment. You also have to make sure you get a dial with dial feet in the correct location for your installation. I guys I got lucky that it all worked out the way it did.

I do not recommend my own method. The clear faded very quickly. If you have a way of spraying 2K paint, I would do that.

Nice restoration job! Do you have any recommendations on how you would apply the clear coat to avoid the pattern? Is the pattern still visible to this day?
I do not recommend my own method. The clear faded very quickly. If you have a way of spraying 2K paint, I would do that.
