Its definitely pretty
Equal parts? Sand, Portland cement and lime. Mix dry… then add water ‘as needed’ a little at a time. Cookie dough consistency. Not too wet to avoid shrinking and cracking. I just bought a place with un chinked log walls I need to finish. The sellers put styrofoam spray in between… I’ll need to scrape it down… looks like others have put nails along the lower log run… vs using the grate to help hold in the chinking mud. If anyone knows anything, I’d love your two cents!
I really feel like you've lost over some very important parts of the video. I mean it was only 30 seconds showing you pouring vinegar into the bucket. I think we need it next for 30 seconds of that just to make it very clear
You have a goat problem.
I’m about to put chink on my logs, been curious about how to do the electrical. So you don’t run any wires under the chink on the outside walls?
Thanks for the video. I have an 1800s log cabin on my property that I’m trying to gain the courage to jump into restoration. Currently I have the chink knocked out of one wall, but replacing the windows is something I’m totally unfamiliar with in a modern home, much less an old cabin.
Just happened across this video 4 years later. Wow you did an amazing job on that grill!! Thanks for sharing your process!
This is actually a newer model grill. Cast iron is always a pain in the ass except for the pans there easy to clean with boiling water on the stovetop.
Wow your house looks like it will be beautiful and the view…priceless.
Thank you so much for this video! It's super helpful. Dealing with rusty cast iron grates on my barbecue and this will be immensely helpful. Seasoning with shortening is such a great tip as well. By the way, out of everything, I might be most impressed that your shirt is still white at the end of this video lol. I didn't think that would have been possible! 😅 Thanks again and have a great day. 🥰
There’s a guy on a channel called My Little Homestead who is restoring one of those old cable drop drilling units. I think he had some issues with getting the head stuck at the bottom of the well. Interesting equipment.
Where are you dude? We all miss you channel and log home build. I pray your ok and nothing bad has happened to you or your family. Last I seen you were starting a job in well drilling for a friend I believe. Did you ever finish yalls log home? If you can, shoot us an update so we know yall are alright. God bless stephan 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I just soaked my Sportsman Lodge grill in vinegar do I need to rinse with water now or just dry & season? Thanks for your video
You can do either. Wipe it dry and heat it up and it should be fine
Thank you. It is the mallard duck sportsman edition. I bought it cheap the other day. It is like 28 or 30 years old. I may re-sell it.
Was looking for directions on how 2 make clinking. Have the sand not sure what other 2 small buckets were
I’m definitely going to try it and I will let you know how it turn out❤
My grill grates look like yours lol😂😂, Can I do the same process with the grates?
Sure. It should work just fine.
Hmmm - attach a motor at the top with an offside weight to cause it to vibrate vigorously while you dump the load. And do the expanded metal run it 90 degree from the current set up. The longer the holes the better the chance is for dirt to drop through. Good job!
That is a beautiful view in the background💯
Epsom salts really makes the soil soft and fluffy and is good for the ground.
Do they interfere with FM radio?
Not so far
Mangrate
It works but the black gunk left on it will stain you hands so wear rubber gloves. I found that out the hard way
💙❤️💙 I Hope Everything is Going Great.Miss Seeing Your Videos.💙❤️💙 Hope To See One Soon.❤💙❤️
Keep running over it with that big tractor it just loves getting compacted
Would be nice to see how it looks now
How did this end up after 4 years? I live in Thailand and have an endless supply of rice hulls available.
It worked awesome. Adds a lot of organic material to the soil and doesn’t consume all the nitrogen
Thank you I need to fix the spring and need help...Cheryl
For God’s sake. Is cleaning a cast-iron pot now worthy of a Hollywood production? KZread must be getting desperate. Next week is a guy oiling his walnut cutting board.
You don’t have to watch it. 🤷 . Here’s an idea, how about produce something of your own. 🤣🤣
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 Here’s an idea: Don’t be opposed to criticism. All opinions are valid if they’re commentary. Do you think that criticism is unethical? I hope not. This pot-cleaning video is stupid because there are dozens of nearly identical videos already. That’s my opinion.
And you’re entitled to it. This video was made years ago. You’re late to the party sir!!🤷
GREAT JOB BROTHER!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Oops, I think I already did it. I have two of them in a 400 ft.² garage but I tell you what it’s a heckuva difference and now I can work at night restoring my vehicle.
Would love to see your house now that is done
Sure miss your updates on the house.
Are you planning on doing a cabin update. I would love to see how it’s coming together
How much it cost to drill that well? I'm looking to build out a 10 acre property in the Ozarks as well
Your efforts were so successful. That is one beautiful dutch oven. I'm sure you will get some wonderful meals out of it. Thanks for sharing your methods.
WE NEED AN UPDATE!
After 2 years are you having any light failures ?
Not a single one. They get used daily and still going strong.
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 thanks
I would try to rig something on the screen frame that vibrates the screen & the dirt would sift through faster & better.
A link to this kit you bought?
So awesome that you had the courage to pursue your dream. I’m kind of in a similar situation right now trying to make a transition. After working for the same company for over two decades I quit. Trying to figure out what I want to do for the next 15-20 years. Went and got my private pilot license…always wanted to do that. Anyway, great video! So, do you still recommend rinsing with water after the vinegar bath? Or to avoid the rust you skipped the water and heated it up to remove the moisture and then coated with oil?
It takes a lot of elbow grease to repurpose cast iron 👍
Good job brother thank you so much, we just bought a Dutch oven at an auction site that was supposed to be new season. I got it Home opened it up and it is completely rusty. I didn’t know what to do with it and came looking at KZread and found your video and you have given me the hope that I needed. I think I can save this beautiful gorgeous piece of cast-iron.
loverthe angle and set that in a box constucted on 2xX. thatway the rock will accumilate atthe end and be seperated for other uses.
I found it interesting while watching this video, I can smell the vinegar.
will that mix preserve natural color of fresh wood
No it will eventually turn grey with sunlight . It has no UV protection
thank you!
Awesome video. Big help. Thank you!
Showing you channel some love... Hope you are well. Missing you uploads.
Great information. I have been given a off set smoker grill and the grates are very rusty. This gives me hope that I can restore and use it. Thanks.
