A lovely little piece, thank you!
A pleasure
1:18 Just casually harmonises every note on the spot while not even looking at the keys like it’s not a big deal
Years of doing it…

Sir, In the second phrase the beat before the cadence, is it the diminished seventh chord in the key of F minor or F major?
In this piece it precedes F major but the diminished 7th is the same in F major as it is in F minor.
Thank you. You answered my question more fully than I thought anyone would.
Glad it’s helpful. Much more at www.mmcourses.co.uk

I think that's a terrific way of explaining 6/8 time. We've been taught from the onset of any musical education understanding Time Signature starting with 4/4 Time "Top Number Beats in a Measure, Bottom Number what Note gets a Full Beat". 6 Beats per measure and every 1/8 note gets a full beat??? View it as 6 of something in a measure and what those 6 of something are is simplistically brilliant. Thank you!!🤗

You missed 7/8 time
7/8 is an irregular time that we cover in other videos
You'd be much better learning music by the ears, than by the eyes.
Absolutely but do both
Thank you very much! Such a great explanation!

Brilliant analysis of Bach's two-part counterpoint master piece! Thank you Gareth! :)
A pleasure
Sir, there is a Dm piece with the chords as follows ( D min - Bb maj - F maj - Db maj ) can you help me with what kind of modulation is happening here. F maj goes to Db major?
F is acting as a pivot note ie F is in both the F chord and in the Db chord.
Great video on counter point technique! Thank you very much Gareth! :)
Glad it’s useful. See the counterpoint course at www.mmcourses.co.uk

Wonderful lesson, super useful! This lesson is exactly what I am needing to prepare myself to write a Fugue based on a Subject taken from a lullaby folk song. Thank you very much Gareth! 😄
