    Ive actually worked in these machines I would tend to use the "shaker" out of all the machinery here. In a 10h shift I could do 13 whole lines, shaking about 65-69 trees each I really like it.

    nice video it seems most nuts uses similar equipment a shaker and a picker upper machine. I am wondering with the exception of Macadamia nuts that you can lay a tarp down and they will drop when rip on it. Do almost all the nuts need a tree shaker i mean it seems impractical without a shaker machine for the pecans. It seems the processing is very similar for all the nuts other then peanuts

  • @CoeOrchardEquipment
    @CoeOrchardEquipment6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, most nuts can be mechanically shaken which is a benefit to the grower because they can be harvested all at once instead of waiting for them to drop naturally. Also, some nuts (if they are to be sold) such as pistachios cannot touch the ground because of contamination risks. Walnuts, however, may sit on the ground without risk of contamination.

    Trees per minute can vary depending on the crop being harvested, yield & preferred harvest speed by the grower. Peaches are a very delicate crop to mechanically harvest that is also sized, sorted & graded by the machine so when you consider the amount of work being done 4 trees a minute is very efficient. Harvest efficiency for most other crops is 6-8 trees a minute. Once again considering a catching frames shakes, collects & has bin or bulk handling it is a very efficient process. Our tree shakers that shake crop to the ground can harvest 8-12 trees per minute.

    Please excuse, mine english is not well. In my home country Azerbaijan, we hire peasants to climb tree. They very quick pickings and if they damage, they shall buy. 12 trees is very wowww, is fast. Very big motor? How much kilowatts? Benzin very much manat in Azerbaijan. I would send to home when I done in Davis school.

    Tom Dwan, they are not expensive because its "Easy" to harvest them, they are expensive because it takes 8 years after planting the sapling before the tree produces a nut to harvest. The land needs to be lazer leveled flat as a table, the saplings need to be bought and planted, drip irrigation lines need to be bought and set up, taxes need to be paid on the "unproductive" land for 8 years, water costs A LOT of money, pumps/wells cost A LOT of money and don't forget the labor that is paid out for 8 years to trim trees and irrigate and fix problems. If you want to have a million dollars in your pocket as a farmer, start out with two million in your bank account.

  • @matejlj
    @matejlj6 жыл бұрын

    IT's the same price in Europe (at least in our country). Here is 15 EUR per killo, which is around 20 USD. 1 killo is a little less than 0.5 pound, so the same price. And salaries are 3 times lower. So you got it cheap, still. Also "regular" wall nut, which grows everywhere in our country, costs the same, and that is even more weird. You can literally find countless wild wallnut trees if you take a walk in the forrest.

    And in the process of harvesting pistachio trees might get knocked down/injured by the machines and have to be replaced. Branches break off sometimes. Same goes for pipes/pumps. The machines themselves are expensive when you buy them and expensive maintaining/repairs.....
