Are you using the stock Strymon Iridium IR’s or did you load in some others? And was the whole video just going through the Iridium or did you use an amp during the first part of the video? Either way sounds great both your playing and tone.

I have a GTO. The GTO always felt “congested” to me. Don’t know how else to describe it. Maybe what I’m hearing is the pronounced midrange.
@rockyfolksy8639 Жыл бұрын
true. the mids of the GTO has a lot of omff. better to stack it with a flatter eq drive

@@rockyfolksy8639 is it fair to say the GTO is also quite compressed? I wonder if that is also a feature of the original ODR-1?

I tried to like the Nobels odr 1 mini but they are just way too flubby on the neck pickup of my Strats and Teles. I purchased a Rockett Chicken Soup which is a variation of a Nobels, and favour it way more. It has slightly more mids and less bass and sounds great in all positions on my Strats and Tele.

The GTO seems to have a bit more midrange which makes it cut through the mix a little better and gives each note crisp definition- but it is considerably more expensive. About twice as much as the little ODR mini which runs about 70-80 bucks. The cheapest I can find the J. Rockett- and this is used- 130 bucks.

Thinking of getting a Wampler Belle as well a JRAD GTO or ODR Mini. Just can't decide between the GTO and the ODR Mini. The VS XO might also be worth checking out.

Seems like you had the gain up a bit higher on the Ratsbane than the RAT. But, both of these pedals sounded spectacular when it was used as more of an overdrive to tighten the tone up, and give it a mid boost. Which apparently was how Nuno Bettencourt used it on his first Extreme cd, which in my opinion was his best tone. That super tight, crips, percussive, mid-focused tone. Well done…thank you for sharing!

thanks man. maybe i did. the ratsbane to me has more gain on tap. but it feels a lot different, it has the flabby thing. maybe thats why it seemed gainy in the recording. i guess thats how Brian intends it to be too. i didn't like the feel of it though. i like the Rat better. but the gain knob on the Rat has a lot of spike even on the lower setting. and it doesn't muddy up.
@phillamoore157 Жыл бұрын
@@rockyfolksy8639 Thank you for pointing that out. Maybe the RAT is the better way to go. I won't be using it to add gain, but to tighten it up, and add that percussive, mid-bump. So, that's good information....thank you.

I just got a Ratsbane and it seems like it has a ridiculous amount of gain on tap, even compared to my EQD Life Pedal. That being said, it also sound beautiful in lower gain, boost-type applications. It's a bit noisy but if you dial it in with your ears instead of your eyes, it's an absolutely phenomenal pedal.
