The charging connector looks like an RCA phono connector from the bygone years and the port connection on bike was placed right in the curvature of a weld, absolutely infuriating!

For elderly riders, a throttle is a must, and this is why: connective tissues, tendons and ligaments, and cartilage menisci become much more fragile to high stress (think high torque), so it's not uncommon in benign and completely unexpected situations for something to suddenly "give" (or start hurting severely), and in bicycle riding this could be knees or or leg muscles. Usually if one relaxes for a moment and adjusts the vectoring of the force on the thing in the "give" state, it returns to normal, and ordinary use and pressure can then be applied. The highest likelihood of a sudden pause like that in riding will occur almost exclusively when at a dead stop and subsequent start when forces on the rider's legs and joints are the highest. Stops and starts, unsurprisingly, are also typically at traffic intersections. A bicyclist wants to accelerate smoothly and ride in the most predictable and straightforward way in a traffic intersection for obvious reasons: it's dangerous to suddenly pause or wobble in the middle of an intersection as one is making a turn or even going straight. I don't care how much AI is layered onto a torque or cadence sensing motor: it cannot ever predict the unpredictable. But usually the elderly person themselves can SENSE when these events are about to happen. That forewarning can then be used by the elderly person to force the ebike, via the throttle, to take on more of the load when that person knows they must suddenly reduce the load or torque in the middle of an intersection to adjust their legs or body. So based on your description of torque vs cadence sensing bikes, cadence sensing bikes with a throttle makes vastly more sense for elderly riders. If a bike is torque sensing, it will have no clue why someone is reducing the torque on a crank, whether it is deliberate or due to sudden unexpected leg discomfort. Of course, if a throttle is added to torque sensing bike, which as you say is not common now, then that could potentially be as good or even better than a cadence bike with a throttle. The key however, for elderly use, IMO, is the throttle. The lack of a throttle on torque sensing bike is an absolute deal breaker for many if not most elderly.

They definitely need a hard and fast rule on the attachment of the front wheel to the fork on the e-bike. It should not have a split fork designed fork. The wheel hub should not be slid between this fork design and then a nut tightened down on it. Some e-bikes are out there and have caused fatalities, when the locking nut gets loose with normal braking and the jostling as the rider goes down the road. Then, once the nut gets loose enough, the front wheel works it way loose and falls off the fork and throws any passengers. If anyone bought these cheap retrofits of a standard bike frame, then they should be FORCED to get a retrofit that would immobilize the wheel from detaching and e-bikes manufacturers should be banned from manufacturing such a dangerous design. I believe the brand was RAD or something like that. The girl on the rear of the bike was wearing a helmet and when they were going down a hill at a high rate of speed, the driver started to brake to slow the e-bike down. The vibration caused the wheel to fall off and they were thrown from the fairly new bike. The girl in the rear was killed.

I don't trust Rad Power bikes due to the early generations with 350 Watt motors and using the same motor comtoller worldwide. 500 watt on Canada and 750 watt I'm United States same hub motor and controller. If a scooter gets ahead of me, or an e-bike I don't give a flip. That is the whole point of them. The only time it would really be a problem is when the person is driving in a dangerous manner, which I haven't seen around here.

Looks like a great bike. But comparing it to Grafiti X is kind of wrong, in my opinion. The sale price on X was 3000 - 3600 if you Pre-ordered before it was sold out. I Pre-ordered mine for $3000 (i got lucky). The goat would be 3000 on sale with the second battery. So the price difference is not that much. Plus you have to consider everything else you are getting on X, like moto wheels and tires, belt drive, and more. I am not saying one bike is better than others. I just I do not think it is fair to compare these two bikes.

Registration should be easy to figure...If your Ebike is less than 49cc equivalent you should not have to register it same as a gas bike. 16cc equals 1hp. 49cc is about 3hp. So you should be able to have 784 watts before registration would be required. How fast you can make it go shouldn't matter. If it does then they need to outlaw all motorcycles and hot rods or any vehicle that goes faster than the maximum highway speed limit. Now. Who's the rich person gonna hire the lawyer to win the case

What are they doing to support? Are they doing their part to support a safer environment on roadways, city streets and urban areas? There are so many bicyclist on the road that are out in danger by crowded streets and inpatient drivers. Are they increasing the penalties by people that injure bicyclist? Driver education on right of way? 🤔 I’ve been a motorcyclist for many years. I am not a bicyclist, but I think there is a huge disconnect in driver safety supporting two or three wheels riders.

Cool bike at a very reasonable price, built with quality components, too! Great review and baseline test. The entire e-bike industry would benefit from having standardized testing...if only for comparison of safety features, duh. My only suggestion for this bike would be to replace the bike's dual shock configuration with a monoshock configuration. 😊
