  Shame, these tents have such bad reviews because there are stunning tents. A lot of people complain about bad stitching and bad condensation..😮 I wanted one but decided not to because of all the bad reviews. I'm still looking, though.

  If you have trouble threading the cord back through the poles, an old guitar string with one end bent into a hook does the job.

  If the elastic band breaks while camping and no repair kit available: Crush a small piece of (toilet) paper or leaves (something comparably soft) between the separate parts. They won’t slip while mounting the tent - and can easily be disassembled when moving to a new location.

  Columbia used to be one of my favorite brands, being from the Pacific Northwest. But lately, the last 10-15 years Columbia has been falling off its perch. It has a very cheap quality feel to it and is way behind Patagonia and fjallraven. As well when it comes to looks they no longer have that retro fun colors they look modern and bland.

  Very interesting how Osprey still has full control over design and production despite most labor being in Vietnam. I imagine Mystery Ranch, Eberlestock and other high-end pack companies do something similar. It bothers me that companies like Arcteryx that do not focus on packs don't do the same with their Vietnam-made packs.

  I have a Ribble 3. I like it, but I wouldn't call it a backpacking tent. Weighs almost 5kg, so more suitable for car or motorbike camping.

  Tried to put our new freedom 7 tent back into bag and its no where near going in. Wish they would give you a bigger bag with compression straps on it and just charge a few more pounds. Makes packing the tent so much less of a stress

  Those skylight panels are a bad idea. Most people use shelters in summer, and summers in the UK these days are HOT. You need your shelter for shade from the sun as much as anything else.
