    i think cyclic stress is more about the way a material is stressed... during a tensile test the load is applied constantly increasing and always positive.. cyclic stress means, that during a fatigue test, you "pull and push" the material until it gives in... this constant switch between positive and negative forces on the material is what causes the fatigue break.. the bridge example doesnt make sense tbh because you are just describing traffic... kzread.info/dash/bejne/fpyJxc6xcri8j6g.html
