    i know the cool kids are moving over to small caps but people should know that trump's policies are inflationary and hence the potential for SLOWER rate cuts. I'm staying long mag7 + AI. I think Trump's first year should be good but 2026 (2nd year of president new term) is a bit iffy based on the last 2 cycles.

    Currently going through my CPA journey. Just received my score back for FAR. Sat for Regulations on May 23rd. The fact that we have to wait over a month for testing results sucks. I took FAR on February 20th, and just received the score on May 29th. What do you do in the meantime? I moved onto other exams but it feels like you're taking steps backwards by learning a whole new section, sitting for that examination, and THEN finding out whether or not you passed the prior exam and having to restudy. Also, wishing I would have gotten a job in public instead of private. I don't really get any exposure to the Tax or Audit side, its more of corporate accounting aka glorified bookkeeping.

    math: If your tax rates stay the same it does not matter if you pay tax first and then the remainder compounds, or if it all compounds and then you pay tax later. Notice "remainder" and "all" - the advantage of the roth outside of tax rate changes, is you can put more into the roth to grow without the implied cut for future taxes. In other words, $7000 into a Roth is worth more in the future than $7000 into a tax deferred IRA. But if your tax rate is 20% and that means you can put $7000 into a tax deferred IRA or only $5600 into a Roth because of taxes now, the only way the Roth wins is if your future rate is higher than 20%. However, if you can eat the taxes now and put $7000 into the Roth, the Roth will be worth more in the future because you get to keep it all. (And the whole uncertainty of future tax rates leads me to favor the Roth.)

    IT isn't so great either. A lot of outsourcing in the field with AI on the horizon. Also, a lot of the good positions in IT are not entry level. You have to survive the hell that is helpdesk. The SWE field is pretty much done for now. Tiktok and outsourcing ruined SWE. CS is probably the most popular major right now. Data Analytics, I'd say, will also be greatly affected by AI as well. Microsoft Copilot is just the beginning. I was actually trying to leave IT for Accounting lol but now I'm reconsidering. I would consider trade work but my body is just too beat up. I was laid off since the helpdesk team at my previous company went to India. I don't have a degree and the age of bootcamp devs are over.

    @@CPATuttle I do appreciate your raw insight into the field. I should mention that there is also a huge push to get women into tech as well - especially in the web dev field. It's not uncommon that HR will hire women with no degrees and no portfolios to show of. Having said that, I think I might try and get an Accounting degree through WGU and then get the MS in Data Analytics since that is the future. I could get the BS in Data Analytics but I'd be competing with the CS kids and the tech entry level is hyper competitive right now.

    This is the most confusing thing I have EVER heard! I am moving from Ca to Texas to be with family. I will be 80 in Nov 2024. I've sold online ebay for 20 yrs for extra money, and to keep from being bored since my husband died. I got the smart idea of telling tenants here to call me when moving before giving to good will and I might just buy what they dont want to take. Old photos, Army pins, George Formin Grills, really nothing valuable, but It worked. Until last year! Now the IRS wants to make out like " give me some of this for my beach house " Good God... once life was nice... now, its more depressing than ever, so confusing and now pay H&R block so the IRS can collect on old photo albums, & 1950's Ash trays ! .Taxes on things that are basicly worthless. God ... When does it end?

  • @CPATuttle

    That’s a good topic. I’ve looked into those others. I can already tell you it’s best to first have a job related to those certifications, because there’s a specific work requirement for those; and you need to know if your employer gives you you an incentive to obtain one of those certifications. If you want to bet on one for a future employer, that’s also broad, the CPA gives the best chance.

    Hey new sub here, a little disheartening to hear. I don't have an accounting background and majored in the arts. At 32 I'm pivoting into an MBA in accounting. The program director shares they have a pipeline to the Big 4 and 80-90% of students then receive an offer letter from them. Basically, as long as I have a good GPA and complete the courses I will at least have an internship with the Big 4 and possibly an offer letter. Also, given my age (32) I'm thinking of just buying the Becker and start studying now, as it is an accelerated program (1.5 years) and I'll graduate in August 2025. Hopefully giving me time to prepare for the CPA exam. However, I have 0 experience in accounting. I'm waking up around 5-6AM to study as much as I can introduction to financial accounting, but it's hard. I reached out to previous candidates who completed the program and they shared that I need to have a high GPA the first semester as recruiting starts in the fall (I'm starting during the summer session). They also shared that income tax, corporate income tax, audit, intermediate accounting 1/2 are very hard. If you have any tips to share, that'll be great. I'm a little scared given what you shared in this video but I just hope I'm an outlier and I'll be able to graduate and be employed with the B4.

  • @CPATuttle
    @CPATuttle3 ай бұрын

    If you can get into a program at a school that gets internships for 90% of their students at the big 4 accounting firms, I’d do it. I knew some top schools that always had this. That’s how they recruit. But these schools were very hard to get into.. I wouldn’t worry about the CPA exams at this moment. Take it a step at a time. If the license matters to your job, it won’t make a financial difference until you have years of experience under your belt. And the experience helps with passing the exams

I am a self-employed artist/online creator, I earn money through Patreon and Meta Platforms and both of these companies will be sending me a 1099-K for this year's earnings which makes sense. But the income I made through those platforms was transferred to my paypal account before being again transferred to my business bank account, and now paypal is also issuing me a separate 1099-K for those transfers. How do you address receiving multiple 1099-Ks for the same income? I am worried the IRS is going to think my income is double what it actually is.

  • @CPATuttle

    Hi Kiley, the IRS guidance when you recieve a 1099-K in error for duplicate income, is to first contact the merchant to correct the duplicate, if not, report it on your taxes as 'other income' label it on your taxes as "Form 1099-K Received in Error" as a positive amount and then also as a matching negative amount to wash out the income. And then be prepared to show the IRS proof of duplicate 1099-K on the same income so that if they mail you a letter on this reporting. Hope this helps you
