This was one of my favourites. I will always remember my son Darryl, at 11 years of age dancing to this highly amusing video in his nappy. Luckily, I had a library full of Cilla's videos and Murder She Wrote on vhs, kept in those covers that looked exactly like book covers. I still put this video on, whenever I need cheering up. My son also still enjoys watching it with me, though now he is 49! He no longer dances around in a soiled nappy, but his underpants. Thanks Cilla for all the great entertainment, Mrs Biggs.
Absolute legend. Sleep well Liz.
LOL
What a superb actress Jean Alexander was. A treat watching this.
Absolutely! And when Corrie was full of all the best characters
I miss the great entertainment Cilla Black provided with exceptionally amusing videos. Great production and Cilla's voice compared to all the great singing artists. Thanks Cilla. All the best Mrs Biggs
They were shagging while they were making the record. Both terrible liars! Just can't stand her silly, giggly personality🤮
0:49 Dicky looks like Lynne’s gigolo for the night! 👍🤣
Great to see this! I was the pianist here, and came in with my guys at short notice, with tuxedos etc very early in the morning. A quick run-through and we were 'on'. I remember the producer making a sort of drinking-from-a- glass mime behind the scenes.......
For real? 😄 Great story, thanks for your comment here! 😁
Where’s Kevin
We loved the ITV Telethon. They must bring it back and have it fronted by Nigel Farrage.
Loved Karen Kay
Superb
Great voice so missed
Super performance.
So endearing. I liked Corry back then in the good old days.
This is incredible! This is one of the few times that we have the great Ethel Merman singing a complete version TOGETHER WHEREVER WE GO. I don't know who Cilla Black is - but she's good. Just look at Ethel groove! You got to hand it to Ethel, she continued to evolve through the years. Look at how often she sang her old songs to new arrangements. And she DID continue to experiment with new repertoire as the years went by. Two of her great last contributions to her catalog were WHAT I DID FOR LOVE - and her rendition of TOMORROW on the Muppet Show.
Thanks for your great comment! You're absolutely right about Merman, she made a career out of a handful of songs, she was brilliant, would have loved to have seen her live and have a ton of her stuff on CD and DVD! Love the Disco Album!! Cilla Black was one of the biggest stars in UK showbiz, starting out as a singer in the 60s with two number one hits - Anyone Who Had A Heart and You're My World - and a whole load of others and later became more well known for being the most popular host on TV. This clip is from her own series, go check out some of her 60s hits and later things. 😁
Used to love watching Karen Kay , super talent
Me too, and she could do everything!
On stage Barry was magnuficent. My brother waz waiting for me outside the theatre once and mistook the roaring laughter for screaming. He ' brought the house down ' right to the end of the show.
Total class.
RIP Cilla and Bobby. I grew up in tele presenting Cilla as wasn’t born till the 70s. She was and is a star. Hope she reunited with Bobby on the other side. They had a great marriage
Am I imagining this… I saw her with Cass Elliot but Ethel Merman? I wasn’t around so I really don’t mean to be unkind but was Cilla really THAT famous? Ethel sounding and looking fantastic!
She was indeed, from 60s pop star, she got her own high rating TV series in 1968 - I was only born then myself! - and it ran till 1976, this is from an episode of Cilla's TV series in the 1970s, such was her popularity and viewing figures, they attracted all the big names as guests. Cilla's show is also where the "Song For Europe" was broadcast for Cliff's Eurovision entries.
@@GeorgeLyall Thanks for answering. I genuinely wasn’t trying to be rude so I’m grateful that you replied. I was born in the 90’s so I only really saw Cilla on television. I just took it for granted that she was a beloved television host. I’m embarrassed to admit that I had no idea that she was a singer until much, much later. Even then I assumed she was only a star here in the U.K. but she’s been popping up on my feed lately doing duets with just about everyone and every guest, especially Americans, seemed to love her. Also, you can’t get more eclectic than Ethel and Cilla singing “Together” from Ethel’s show “Gypsy”. Ethel still had some belt in her. As I was watching I kept shouting in my head, “sing out, Cilla!”.
@@musicalmagpie741 Lol...Funnily enough, Cilla's singing style on this is different, she seems to be trying to match Ethel's way of belting out the song. I think it's good that more are discovering Cilla's songs - she had two number one singles before even I was born and a whole load of hit singles and albums too. Ethel and Cilla are two of my favourite performers...never thought I'd see them together on the same show either. Apparently Elvis had her single on his personal jukebox! 😁
I noted that, before Ivy went to the Catholic retreat, she was absent from the show for a few days and then finally she was back for just a couple of scenes. And I noticed immediately that her mouth had a different shape to it. There was a puffiness above the upper lip, and it looked to me like she had recently had front teeth removed and replaced with veneers or some kind of dental operation. So that is probably the "dentak problem" she was alluding to.
She also did it on top of the pops episodes also hosted by Tony Blackburn
I knew that you would like this one George
"Where evaaa we gaaaowww" sings Merman 😆 Cilla changed the way she sang slightly for this, being a bit louder and belting to match the great Eth!
Never thought in a million years that this duet would have ever occurred, but I'm so glad it did RIP to 2 legends
A definite clip to make anyone's day brighter!
I miss you liz and bill amazing actor characters
Why voices like the one of this lovely girl never makes with the majority of the public, but, lesser voices sell million and million records.
This is brilliant. What a find. Thanks for sharing, cheers 😆👌👍🇨🇮
Woke Vegan !?
They're trying to do a more inventive form of television than what had been done in the 1970s, but they don't quite have the production skills to pull it off. Edna is hilarious regardless.
Bad Acid Trip😭
An abomination 😫🤦
She ist a lovely singer and a big entertainer.
What a great duet. To hold her own with the Mighty Merman is no mean feat.Thank you George.I met you several times during the tours and get togethers Great memories Cilla will never be replaced.
I only saw Cilla twice - in Paisley 1987 and London 25th Anniversary 1988, but probably talked at you 😄
@@GeorgeLyallit was the 25th anniversary.I was there with my 8 yr old daughter a great memory.Isaw Cilla many times and met so many fans.Love your channel Cheers
Thanku George for another of your rarities. Miss Cilla so much.
Loved both of these ladies and have a ton of their stuff, to see them together is surreal, they were from different eras but it works, and you can tell that Cilla is belting just that bit more to keep in volume with Ethel!
This is amazing I miss the full series so much ❤❤❤
Lovely song brings back childhood memories ❤😊
Dame Edna - never before, never again. I can't believe she's gone. Aspel - not quite in the same league as Parky. But the relationship was probably not as close. Anyway DE and MP - live forever, wherever you are. The world was a better place when you were both in it ❤
Margarita and her keyboard were hysterically funny....Margarita and a band full of brass weren't actually that bad at all!! 🤩
Michelle Collins from Eastenders as one of the fabulous Wilsations!
Sings this great
I often wish she had made an album of some of these "Cillagrams" - there was nothing like a SingalongaCilla! 😁
Love Liza. She seemed to be really enjoying it :)
Thank you. Hadn't seen this. Brought a tear
Bobby looks like a blonde Ricky Gervais 😅
Lovely message from Bernard Manning.
R.I.P Clive, Margarita and Lily/Paul. There will never be entertainment or entertainers like this on TV or in a theatre again, sadly. Too much reality nobodies and PC vetting now. Thanks for the laughs and the great memories all! 🥰🤩
❤❤
Best version of this song! They are the best!
peggy was my mum
Was she . She was my grandmother 😅😅
