    Which would be better for a real estate private equity fund? MBA Cambridge or Mphil real estate finance Cambridge or part time MSc real estate investment and finance at Reading university-Henley business school? Undergrad was at LSE maths and economics. So am less concerned about a general university umbrella brand but more specific for the subject and industry. Reading Henley business school seems to be market leader.

    The reported increase in the US shale oil production since 2010 might be a result of poor auditing of what’s actually imported into the US of conventional oil vs what’s really produced nationally of all oils. From 2003, war/sanctions-torn Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Iran have become more and more failed states and nobody knows what oil shipments from those nations have ended up - entirely looted - unaudited - since. There is a rhythm in what we see happening in the Middle East regularly - 1948 (Arab-Israeli War), 1956 (Suez War), 1967 (Arab-Israeli War), 1973 (Arab-Israeli War), 1980 (Iraq-Iran War), 1991 (Gulf War), 2003 (US/UK occupation of Iraq), 2011 (Arab Spring), 2023 (Gaza War). The Ten-Year interval appears the period where finite oil reserves deplete more and more to the ground, and the West comes and intervenes - forcefully. Forcefully pushing the population by the agency of War into energy-deprived reality periodically, such as tent-camps-for-the-masses - has become a must since 1948 to spare some fuels - in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan - and counting. When energy looted - it turns - curse. A curse that destroys in humans consciousness, reasoning and the future. Karl Marx, Nikola Tesla, Einstein, Balfour, Huxley, Orwell, Turing and 20th Century Physicists/Economists - should be forgiven for thinking their systems can last forever. Finite fossil fuels are dangerously hypnotic to humans, their consciousness, reasoning and mental capacity. Humans were not ready morally, ethically and intellectually to start the mass extraction of fossil fuels with the advent of the steam engine 300 years ago. The Magna Carta requires today overhauling - adding to it the right for humans to understand what Energy really is - before any other commandment; “In any system of energy, Control is what consumes energy the most. No energy store holds enough energy to extract an amount of energy equal to the total energy it stores. No system of energy can deliver sum useful energy in excess of the total energy put into constructing it. This universal truth applies to all systems. Energy, like time, flows from past to future” (2017).

    Hey UK, maybe do yourself a favour and mind your own buisness? Much as there seem to be some attempts to pretend the UK is still relevant to these considerations for some reason, the reality is that the UK no longer plays a role in EU strategies fo the future. The EU is planning for the future of the EU, wether on semi-conductors, critical materials, defence industrial base or future energy grid. There will be no temporary relief deal on EV rules of origin, or reprieve on CBAM requirements. On Energy the UK will be outside the planned integration of grids and markets and learn to live with its new status as observer on the NSEC group. For those who are in denial about these realities go check out the the interconnector that has already been approved and is now being constructed between France and Ireland, it provides the perfect visualisation of the new relationship in every way. While the UK is welcome to be connected to EU suppy chains and infrastructure systems, it will no longer be a core, or irreplaceable part of these. The EU is going to do what it always does, deliver the changes required now by attaching it to the theme of integration and europeanisation, thus ensuring the long term commitment and required political and financial capital is made available and reaping the associated substanstive synergies and added value the sharing and scaling will deliver.

    Excellent presentation. I was hoping you would’ve gone over the slide that asks: Is Bitcoin digital gold. In terms of its rarity it may seem as digital gold or money, however, Bitcoin is simply an asset with intrinsic value. It’s quite subjective. I would like to hear your view on this.

  • @CambridgeJBS
    @CambridgeJBS11 ай бұрын

    Bang talks about how price of Bitcoin has become more correlated with other financial instruments which means it becomes less of a hedge, the way that gold is perceived to be. In terms of value, we might have to wait to take a longer-term view of Bitcoin.

    Hollywood California. Funny that this popped up in my feed. I had just said I need to learn business because I am coming out of eight years of being homeless. My time on the streets gave me the opportunity to heal my unresolved childhood trauma. My confidence and self esteem bloomed and I'm no longer stuck in alienated pain. Now I'm ready to begin my life and I know NOTHING about business. Just as I previously knew nothing about myself and how to live and I overcame that so i hope that this leads me into being busibess savvy Thank you for sharing your content !

    This might have been the main reason in previous oil shocks and Saudi Arabia did cut output this past year. But the main reason as stated in the livestream is the cutting of gas supply from Russia and the impact it had on Europe which relies heavily on Russian gas. This raises policy questions about energy security, energy pricing and how to facilitate a green energy transition.

  • @janchakravarthy
    @janchakravarthy Жыл бұрын

    @@CambridgeJBS I’d be keen to hear your thoughts. In my humble opinion, the real answer to the pension liability problem is moving away from defined benefit liabilities to a defined contribution model. That change is afoot but will likely happen over a long period of time given union and vested interest of scheme members. Until then, as interest rates peak and trough, LDI mandates will need to tweak leverage and approach strategically and look for more stress testing scenarios. I would hope that we’d never have another ‘mini-budget’ scenario.

  • @CambridgeJBS
    @CambridgeJBS Жыл бұрын

    @@janchakravarthy thanks for the comment. As the guests said on the livestream, in a way, DB pensions have slowly become better capitalised as funds take better measures, including LDI, and rates rise. As members exit, which is the best euphemism I have heard for dying, the presence of DB will slowly decrease over time. Thank you for your comments and hope you can subscribe for more content on our channel. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for future episodes. Conrad Chua.
