In 2013 I purchased a Cabo Rico 38 and haven't looked back since. This channel features sailing adventures that began on the Chesapeake Bay on a good old boat and have now exceeded 20,000NM about a number of great sailboats. From sailing a Sea Sprite 30 to Cuba and Bahamas and then 450NM offshore from Treasure Cay to Charleston and then sailing a Cabo Rico 38 to Bermuda and back for the 2017 America's Cup and most recently taking a Cabo Rico 56 from the Bay to Bermuda and then down to the Caribbean and back I have sought to document my time before the mast in an entertaining and educational manner. As we look to the future there is much more great sailing to be had so....Come Aboard and Sail the Seas with "The Corsair" and remember to always ....HOLD FAST!

Love your boat
of all the boats ive looked at in this size range , this interior layout is by far the best. there isnt one case of "why did they put this there" , and the open deck space in the salon is fantastic
Thanks
Love the videos! Great filming and instructive a s well. What size Cabo is your boat?
Cabo Rico 56. They only built two this size.
I love this boat, and i liked the song 😊
Sir, can you please tell me the Year of this boat please? Thank you very much 🙂
If I recall correctly, it is 1988
@@TheCorsair thank You!
That's a very nice trusty cook hammer. Never seen another out in the wild.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Save the bronze handles. Over fifty bucks each.
How do you to split up the watches? Do you split the watches any differently at night?
Hi Dale, Ted Petrocci from Regent Point. Great work on this trip. There are 5 boats heading up and planning pretty much the same cruise this weekend to spend the month sailing around up there. We plan to come back thru the Sound and then out of NY bay. Your video will help with some routing ideas. Stay well and joyful.
Nice video. I helped the previous owner bring it down cobbs marina in little creek
Good Luck with your new boat!
Is the keel retractable ? Or is the draft fixed at 2.44m (which would be a no go for Bahamas)?
music over sailing videos is pretty frustrating.
We saw the Infinity Project guy in Hilton Head Island. The pet geese are hilarious. We picked up Endless Summer in Harrington Harbor N.
You’ll be getting my invoice sometime in 2026. I have to charge you extra for exposing my bald spot. #sorrynotsorry
It’s a race between you and Buster!
What was wrong whit them?
Among other things the wood backing plates were rotten
Save some sanding for me 😉
Definitely!
What brand/type of seacock will you replace the head sink drain seacock that you removed? By coincidence, I am looking to replace that very same seacock on our own 1984 Sea Sprite 30 (hull #9) named Snow Goose. We've been really enjoying your refit of S/V SeaSprite and hope to do many of the same thing to our boat. It's our first-ever sailboat, just purchased in January of this year, and plan to launch the second week of May.
I’ve not yet decided. Will be either Groco bronze or Marelon.
Congrats on your new to you boat! From what I've seen on the channel she looks to be a great choice for a first vessel ⛵
@@billmead5052 I’ve owned her since 2013. We’ve sailed her to Cuba and the Bahamas. Check out the S/V SeaSprite Playlist for those adventures.
Drain into a sump and pump overboard? tie in to the sink drain maybe? Could be a clogging issue with mud from the rode though.
We could try to make the anchor locker a water-tight compartment and put a small bilge pump in there but I think it would fail pretty quickly due to debris collecting at the bottom. I'm investigating the feasibility of some anchor locker drains.
Oh glorius sanding 😁
Indeed!
Gee! You are fast!!! How's the pay? Thanks. Greetings 'a la' Portugalese.
I'm woefully underpaid!
Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos and commentary along the way. Good sailing!
Can you describe your navigation path around Hatteras? Did you go between the stream and diamond shoals or way out past the stream?
Nice job on the video! Thank you for producing and sharing.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful boat and nice cruise!
It’s always a pleasure watching your sailing videos. You do a wonderful job with the details of the sailing adventure.
Wonderful video, wonderful boat!!
That boat man! She is just amazing!!
How cool to catch and release a sailfish !
This sure brings back some fond memories...
Great video :) Looked like a nice journey north.
Thanks Captain and beautiful Capitaine. Greetings.
My God, what a thing of beauty! I can only dream... for now. Oh to escape with my family for a couple of years! Loved the ships cat. I hope you still have her (cat and yacht) and are making the most of both! :)
i never get tired of watching this boat underway....
We saw you anchored. We were in the City Marina!!!
Saw you anchored in banks channel today.... Beautiful boat
Thanks! Banks Channel is one of our favorite anchorages
Unbelievable how manyfold the beauty of Quetzal increases when she goes by those monstrosities we call dysentery ships... sorry cruise ships. Greetings.
Great video! Next time you are up in Narraganset Bay, say Hi. We were in Dutch Harbor last summer. I didn't know you were up here.
Thanks! We hope to make it up that way again this summer!
Beautiful Cabo Rico sir. Question, did you convert that to end boom sheeting? Ive never seen another CR38 like that. Also, I love the way that you had no clutter on the transom. The lines Mr Crealock drew deserve to be seen. Nice work.
Thank you. The boat was built with in-boom sheeting. As you can see the boom is longer than on most CR38s to accommodate the location of the traveler along the back cockpit combing.
Leave it as it is. Steel rusts, added to magnetic interfere, just a pain..
I like Corian. Also like the cook top and frig below. I hardly ever use oven. Stainless just feels cold. If Corian too heavy…I would go with the new laminates that look like Quartz.
I used corian, easy to work with not very thick, easy to clean kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zq6OzrmNmbzQeNo.html I use the oven offten
Laminate.
All that stainless would be cold feeling.
Stainless would be ugly and cold, IMO. Corian would be very nice and my first choice. A new laminate second choice. Is the current laminate that bad? It looks pretty good in the videos.
In all honesty, I would go back with new formica. I think in the long run, you'll be dissapointed with the visual of the Stainless. As others have said, it comes in a TON of patterns. I just redid my saloon table with new formica and it looks great and will likely outlast my ownership. If you plan to go super fancy, Corian or quartz. If made at the factory, they can build the fiddles right into the product. As for the stove, I like your idea of an induction top and sliding fridge drawer. The admiral hates the top load fridge, but likes my fresh scones so that idea is out for me. If I had a bigger boat in the tropics with lots of solar and batteries, I'd go for an all induction range (they exist, but are pretty spendy).
I would re laminate in updated color…….your life will be so much easier…..
Stainless steel and an electrical induction cooktop if your plan includes lithium batteries and solar panels.
Don't forget where to put the wine bottles and everything will be alright. Remember the more the merrier! Greetings.
