    There's a similar French documentary from the 50s about Filipino martial arts arnis, I wonder if both documentaries were made by the same person.

    Great video witnessing times gone by. The french commentary sounds very outdated but is interesting, aside from the factual description, it tends to depict things in a poetic, precious, almost impressionist way, typical of those times.

Bullets N' Guns is one thing!;......But What about:- Anthrax, Mustard Gas, Booby-Traps and Fragmentation Grenades...... U R a long way from Home and the Finer-Points of the Geneva Convention, Youngster! All said;...........Solid Kudos to the Rare n' Fine B/W Footage of these Elite Classy and Prestigious Warriors! I actually prefer it to the Modern Stuff!................Has more Soul!

    Très intéressant. Savez-vous si les lutteurs commençaient l'affrontement avec le foulard au cou, et tentaient de se saisir l'un l'autre , ou s'ils commençaient plustôt avec chacun un foulard dans les mains, et tentaient de capturer l'adversaire avec ? Cela expliquerait pourquoi, sur certaines images, on voit le foulard porté de différentes façons, ou même que l'un des lutteurs n'en porte pas.

    Merci. Je pense que c'est une lutte réglée ou l'on commence en position l'écharpe autour du cou dès le départ. Nous ne pouvons que spéculer sur cette forme de lutte, puis ce que nous avons très peu d'information a son sujet. Des jeux de tractions type "tire a la corde" avec une écharpe existent sur la même période. Je dirais que les différents type d'écharpes visibles sur l'iconographie vienne d'une évolution du jeu afin d'éviter au maximum les étranglements. D'une écharpe à 2 brins, nous passons a une écharpe déjà noué en cercle, puis sans doute a un anneau en dure.
