    @@biochemistryrocks3414 well the videos really are great, your presentation and way with words is fantastic so if you ever decided to pursue it again i think youd find a lot of success! im doing my research project at university on protein modelling and your videos helped to elucidate so much i had forgotten regarding biochemistry

    the video states that in a titration of a weak acid the ph is greatest (aka concentration of H+ is lowest) when the concentration of the conjugate base is greater than the protonated undissociated acid but which would mean that more acid had dissociated into Ac- and H+ which would be an increase in H+ ions surely?

  • @biochemistryrocks3414
    @biochemistryrocks34144 жыл бұрын

    You are thinking of a solution that contains nothing but a weak acid. But imagine you add a separate base to the solution: the H+ dissociated from our acid will then be in the form of water (if we added NaOH and the H+ associates with the OH-), or in the form of the conjugate acid of that base (if we added e.g. ammonia, NH3, and H+ associates to form NH4+). In both cases, the H+ that has dissociated from our weak acid will not be in the form of H+ (or rather, H3O+), and so will not, as you had expected, increase [H+] /decrease pH.
