Wondering why they chose that sort of suspension bridge when they've proved to be less safe than the newer type where all the cables stretch out from the tower?

Hey Randal! We've built multiple types of bridges, including simple suspension which we think is the type you're referencing. This bridge type was chosen based on the design preferences of the client. Know that we have multiple third-party structural engineers involved in each one of these big bridge projects and do everything we can to make sure they're happy!

Bravo to the guys climbing up and down these distances... But probably using and ActSafe machine would have cut labour costs by half 😅

We wish! This portion of the build (hanging the suspenders) was only a few days out of over a year of construction time. So there were plenty of labor costs we would have loved to cut in half, haha. With that being said, we did look at these devices really quickly. At the time we were unable to find any information within the manufacturer's website/product documentation regarding whether or not they meet the requirements for work safety regulations in the US. We reached out to the company and were unable to get a response. So, we climbed! Do you happen to have any information on whether they meet US work safety requirements - we'd love to know!

That is a baller of a climb. Yea, I agree, one of those gas powers ascender devices would be a requirement on this job for sure. Shoot man, just back it up with a prusik knot if you want waltzes safety. Even a rope wrench SRT climb would be a haul.
