We had Kelpies as pets, they like routine n at night if they start playing up turn lights off n command bed time. I usually take them for driving, they like watching stock movements.

Kelpies are the best! I compete in agility with mine, he is such a good boy and a lot of fun to train and compete with, and great in the house as well.

We have had 4 kelpies in the past 50 years, all of the have been great dogs and pets. You need to be prepared to spend a lot of time with them ,running them and playing ball with them. They just want to be with you all the time. Very intelligent, smart and will interact with you all day. They have a great nature and get on well with kids, other animals and other dogs. If you are not prepared to interact with a dog don't get a kelpie.

Absolutely correct. Do not get a Kelpie if you do not have a minimum of half an hour or more a day to walk and run it. Train it well with good information. The rewards are worth it. These are generally mustering dogs that run for miles in all sorts of weather working for their owners on farm properties. Not the best dog for a residential area. Not fair to the dog.

I just got an almost five-month-old pup who wasn't crate trained and won't stop barking and crying. Should I just ignore him and keep the crate covered? During the day he's mostly fine (won't go in on his own, though). In the evening he's hell, he goes on for at least half an hour between whining, crying, barking and all the works, even shoving his body on the crate or biting it. Any more advice? Please? It's been two weeks, can't understand why he hates it so much.

To keep a kelpie as a pet you will need to have a lot of big fields for them to run

Great video. We watched your other videos a couple of years ago on the day we got our latest Kelpie and decided to crate train from day 1. What a difference in managing a kelpie by giving them a place to relax and rest. You are so on the money with the containment thing. Awesome advice.

Giving him tasks and tones of voice, he's been a completely different dog since I first watched the videos! My aim is to get him to the level of off lead walking which by the looks of it won't be too hard with time 👍 thank you for all you do!
