linux is so good for audio, i hated how little control i had in windows. JACK and ALSA took time to learn but well worth the flexibility

Musta been fun hah I doubt your video shows all the pain, Just getting a damn software equalizer installed on linux is a pain in the ass, let alone Low latency sound support ASIO. Not to mention midi Linux does sound bad, and if your not using crappy realtek devices its not a fun picnic.

Hi, thanks for the interesting video. What about FL Studio running under Linux? I have full Signature license version on Windows and I think it is a great DAW. What about hardware audio/midi controllers and usb sound cards compatibility under Linux? Ps: I suggest you to use a closer and better mike for recording your voice and a soft round light for your face (that is in the dark). Thanks.🙏👍😁

Hello there, I'm producing tunes with GNU/Linux as main operating system since 2019, I've started with some noisy punk music and experimented more with electronic music and rap

@FranzCorrado IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be aware that you are leading people in error. It is NOT possible to run all "VSTi libraries" in Linux without problems using WINE. All VSTi that use "eLicense" or "iLok" USB security register /authentication systems, do not work in WINE because each time such VSTis are used, these security system servers ("eLicense" or "iLok") think the WINE session is a different PC /machine each time. Some musicians have lock themselves out of their VSTi instruments because they exhausted all the authentication attempts, rendering their licenses void. In other words, they simply wasted all the tries the vendor gives them to authenticate and use the product becoming hostage of the "vendor's good will" to reset /unlock their accounts. So be aware of this. If any of you ever found a real solution to this issue ("eLicense" or "iLok") in WINE, please let me know. Appreciated.

I've been using LMMS on Windows for almost two decades. It's saved me a lot of money, and I've been able to do a lot of beats and EDM tracks. When I switched over to Linux Mint, one of the first things I did was install LMMS.

Linux is the best OS, hands down. However, wow music production kinda sucks on it dude. Ableton runs like ass through wine and I have a 7900x, 64gb ram and an rx7900xt. Reaper's workflow is about like ardours, it's obnoxiously annoying and unintuitive. If you have to make a tutorial explaining it, then it's not intuitive, period. Logic, Garageband, Ableton, what do they all have in common? I've seen noobs, myself and other friends, pick up and become very efficient with these softwares within 5-15 minutes, seriously. Mastering it takes time but just simply making a song, comes very naturally in them. Ardour, Reaper, LMMS, etc, etc., all of these other "non-logic's"(as I refer to them) just don't have a very good workflow. Reaper has to have multiple windows open and it gets cluttered and really annoying really quick. Obviously i have no problems shelling out cash, i bought the highest tier Ableton Live as well as the highest tier Logic Pro back in the day, and am rocking near-top shelf hardware. My issue is with proprietary tech and companies telling me what I can and can't do with my creations using a tool. It's become a scarier issue as of lately, Idk why, but just is to me. The fact that terms and conditions can change, they watch our usage, and ultimately control our usage of softwares really bugs me, and I hate that they could take away a tool I depend on so heavily at any point for any reason, regardless of if I bought it, because that's how proprietary tech works. Plus when the secret holders die, the tech dies. Open source is where it's at............ but why........ why oh why does it all have to perform and work like it's from the 80s

Despite your efforts, FranzCorrado (meanwhile you also seem to be finished with "Linux music production", because nothing at all can be found from you younger than 3 years... 🙄) I have to conclude, that Linux Music - although it's really capable kernel - is hardly capable to compete with _ a n y _ commercial music production attempt, except the few already existing projects and those few companies which began to establish their products on Linux as well. Compared to VST's - for instance - some Linux plugins aim to be "colorful", but really practical in the sense of their capability to "survive" in a halfway professional environment there are only few. Be it their partly very limited accessibilty for automation/modulation, be it the mostly only for a very short time existing development (because often only made by single enthusiasts instead of only very little, basic _ t e a m s _)... In comparison Linux music simply is something permanently fighting against the death caused by _ p u r e _ _ l o n e r i s m _ vs. the insight, that cooperation is simply the _ b a r e _ _ m i n i m u m _ necessary to keep such projects alive and competitive. To conclude: Even though some DAW and plugin producers and projects desparately try to keep a quite weak hope alive to make Linux music interesting for musicians, this hope mostly vaporizes completely when one really is in search of practical usable software (and be it only snippets). For me it turned out, that Linux basically came from few really capable brains, which are though almost incapable of cooperation - and the so-called "community" very rarely can be found in music projects. See the very simple, but yet impressive example (from my personal pov): LMMS. Originally made by Tobias Doerffel it aimed to be a clone of Fruity Loop$ and was an interesting idea... but it had been remaining some kind of hobby for many years and although Tobias gave it an interesting start: When Tobias began to concentrate on demand of only very few users while developing LMMS regarding new feature development and other properties and functions this program became simply uninteresting for almost the complete community... lonerism Then after many years Tobias had to leave LMMS completely (lack of time), but because nobody was really involved and it still remained some 'big hobby' instead of a real _ o p e n _ _ s o f t w a r e _ _ p r o j e c t _... only very few people were interested in continuing this thing and it went on stumbeling between delirium and death. A long text in short: As long the vast majority of Linux developers don't learn the essential ability of open cooperation and of open communication their projects will never become really widely usable software. The still existing self-lie of Linux: "It is open source and everybody can..." - right - _ C A N _. But to make these things _ c o m p e t i t i v e _ many people _ n e e d _ _ t o _ be made interested in working on these projects, because the simple _ a b i l i t y _ doesn't move _ a n y t h i n g _ and lonerism is the graveyard of literally _ e v e r y t h i n g _. We will see, wheter Linux developers learn the essential 'lesson' named: Cooperation _ a l w a y s _ beats lonerism and even weak teamwork beat almost each "geek-work" very quickly.

Linux needs support from proprietary software studios so I can use Reaktor, East West Quantum Leap, the Abbey Road mastering stuff, etc. And i also want to use my interface hardware with proper low latency. I like making music, and windows is getting increasingly on my nerves, but I want my sounds, plugins and libraries to work. And to not spend a weekend trying and failing to build wifi drivers from source 😂.

TLDR: You switched to Linux because you couldn't afford a PC powerful enough for music production on Windows, which I think is a completely fine thing to do, though I wouldn't recommend everyone else to do the same 😅 Don't get me wrong, I love most free linux-based OSes and use them on a daily basis (both privately and for work), but it still takes *a lot* of getting used to as a complete linux noob. For those who already have or plan to get a beefy PC with plenty of ram and a fast enough CPU, learning linux may just be a huge waste of time that they could've used to get better at producing music on Windows instead.

Hello, i'm just here to put a little critic i have on this video between 0:00 - 6:23 and 8:23 - 10:54 You put too much volume on the music track, your voice is most of the time covered by the music. It makes it harder to keep focus on what you said. It's always great to leave Microsoft / Apple / Google for moving on Linux, long live to you.

Anyone here that can help? I'm not able to find drivers fo my RME Fireface UC USB audio interface, i look on RME forums already and seems that there's only an outdated reverse engineering project with hints on how build your own Linux driver for the UC using the Windows driver, too bad 'cause for Windows and macOS there's super updated drivers, last is from July of this year, if someone has any idea, please let me know, thanks.

Actually just downloaded MX_LINUX yesterday, installed it on one of my Chromebooks (HP 14 G4)W/ A 128GB HDHC. Took a couple hours to fully install EVERYTHING, but now, I'm about to install it on my freshly wiped 2010 MacBook Pro w/500GB HDD. Also have (2) 16GB Micro-SDHCs and a 160GB KESU External Hard Drive for extra songs. I stopped using Windows about 2 years (former A+ tech) the whole cert system is a racket unto itself lol 😆 I've been working on computers since the age of 14['98] and honestly, being a guitar tech(Luthier is soooo much easier and less headaches lol) plus, with windows 11 & the newer iOS systems they scan your devices, pcs etc and delete anything of yours they deem "offensive", lol which in this day an age could be which ever the wind blows. An you agree to it in the New ToS, goes with the "your phone is considered rented" go look it up. With Linux, things(security) is soooo much different, it's leaps an bounds what MAC & PC are.. MACS system is called UNIX LOL it's just LINUX! same exact commands, if you know TERMINAL, then guess what gov'nah???!!! You now know over 50+ Linux Distro Language Commands....BRAVO!!!! See, so don't tell us in the tech community things aren't possible. It's just reading and typing. Takes 30 minutes tops

... quite a boolsh!t... Windows takes 3-4.5Gb from the start. Crystal Linux(arch vanilla) smthng around 1.8-2.2Gb. Omnispehere: 450-900Mb per instance depending on how sophisticated patch is. DUNE3 the same. Pigments: 300-600Mb per instance. Eqs/compressors etc: 30-150Mb. having 8-12Gb of RAM used by DAW u simply run out of CPU power. So u need to pay attention to CPU and what u are talking on youtube... At least I have 16Gb of RAM on laptop and always there is a plenty of room (3-6Gb free) when my CPU starts freaking out and you cant continue to work. KZreadrs... Believe it or not - linux more stable... Upgrades are not allowed without your ... let say... consciousness... Linux faster. More effective. After update on Windows(i though i switched off all updates but Windows decided otherwise) i had all audio highpassed smthng around 300Hz. That was mixing time after production... Report. Just a lesson for sh!tt talking.
