Focus Bible Church (FBC) launched on June 28th 2009 in the Welcome Bay School Hall, Tauranga, New Zealand. Initially known as Bay Bible Fellowship, the name was changed to project a clearer impression of this church's purpose. We are a multi-cultural gathering of believers in Jesus Christ who hold to the 5 sola distinctives which were popularized during the Protestant Reformation.
Focus Bible Church is a non-denominational local Tauranga church body which enjoys life in Christ within the boundaries of God's Word. Believers weekly participate in God-centered worship and expressions of faith with consecutive expository Bible teaching being the normal preaching format.

You must read the Bible and especially for the prodigal son... God Jesus knows His elect, but we can bacslide for appointed time/season of isolation/wilderness... I'm not even calvinist and i'm backsliding from years but still i can recognize born Again Brothers and Sisters as this "sleeping" Brother here, surely the Spirit of Christ was in him. Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, all Scripture, including the minor prophets have valuable lessons for us Gentiles. We learn much of God’s character, how He responds to Israel and His covenantal future faithfulness to Israel. If Yahweh can be trusted with unfaithful Israel, we Gentiles can trust Him. Especially considering the New Covenant promises to Israel and the church. Hosea reminds us Gentiles of New Testament certainties in Christ. Hebrews 9:15, “Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.” Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
I will never live the life I thought I could due to things outside of my control.. This Life on earth is corrupted and what’s worse is there’s nothing, no good or god to actually give a fuck about those who pray.. I try and have for years but I guess those who hold the information are in the position to use me and alter my life for reasons I never agreed to nor know. There’s no god that’s cares. Hey bro, sorry you feel that way. Life is hard and often times we see evil go unchecked and it can make us wonder why would God allow such things to occur. I don't deny that there is a tension between our faith in and all good and powerful God and the reality of evil in this world that seems to go unchecked. It could feel like you are all alone and can be tough to understand how a good God can allow these things to happen. The reality is, the Bible itself actually asks the very questions you are asking. The book of Job is a perfect example. The reality is that some things are outside of our understanding. The thing is though, if God doesn't exist than this supposed evil we see and experience is nothing at all, but just actions. There is no right, wrong, or indifference. Yet, evil can only be called evil by measuring it some objective standard of good. If God does not exist, than good doesn't exist. Only actions, neither right nor wrong. Lastly, you mentioned that "no god loves us enough to intervene," yet, the very essence of the gospel and story of the Bible is that God does love us and intervened. He intervened when he took on a human nature in the person of Jesus Christ, and he walked among us and our sin filled world. He lived a perfect life, one that we couldn't possibly live because of our sin. Then he died the death that we deserved, due to our sin. He intervened by taking the punishment for our sins by dying the death on the cross. Not only did he take the punishment for our sins, he defeated death and sin on the cross. The evil you speak of is and will be defeated by Jesus. He died, and then three days later he rose, conquering death and the devil. Evil in this world will be defeated when he returns. We all have the opportunity now to call on his name for repentance and forgiveness of sins. It doesn't matter what you have done, we all a chance at a new life in Jesus filled with forgiveness and peace with God. I pray you call on his name and trust in him.
I was deeply backslidden for close to 40 years...I never gave up or denied my faith and always believed I was still saved, although my life had very little real evidence of meaningful service to God. I didn't go over to gross sin, no drugs, no alcohol, no criminal behavior really, other than a rebellious contempt for authority, with only a few minor infractions. I stayed law-abiding...just a regular person, really. I did, however, become addicted to pornography for a relatively long time. Not now though...As I got up into my seventies, God was still faithful, allowing me to continue my hopeless lifestyle without major interruption. To make a long story short, God convicted me of my sinful, service-less lifestyle. I was brought to ultimate despair over it, thinking there was now no hope for me. Shortly before, after the New Year, I had had a resurgence in my faith with a new hope about it and God directed to to start studying the Bible. One of the first books I read was Galatians, then Ephesians. For the first time the words of Eph 1 really grasped my attention! I had read it several times over the years but never thought to linger on what it said. I just figured it was above my spiritual ability to understand, but this time I grasped the doctrine of Election for the first time! My mind was FORCED to pursue it...just as I started wrestling with it I started seeing videos on U-tube talking about and explaining God's sovereign election of His saints. Men like John MacArthur, Voddie Bauchan, Steve Lawson eloquently explained it to me and made it clear to me that for FORTY YEARS I had been CRIPPLED from victory in Christ by not realizing the truth of what the Bible, practically throughout, declares about God's Elect - NO WONDER my christian walk was such a failure! That whole time I was thinking my salvation depended on ME, when it's ALL OF GOD! I know Satan is not going to stop trying to make me feel condemned...but now, I'M NOT FALLING FOR IT. I know I was saved at thirty, but was just massively deceived my whole life. Salvations is not by free will choice...God CHOSE to turn His love and grace on me and called me from DEATH to LIFE. I was INCAPABLE to be saved otherwise. I have since repented FULLY and am now WAITING ON GOD to confirm me to the image of His Dear Son. I am convinced there will be, at least, JUST AS MANY that reject God, if that DID depended SOLELY on free will - as there would be based on the doctrine of Election.
You can only "backslide" if you are under some form of law. You must be on a scale to slide forward and back. Christians are not under the law. God no longer counts our sins against us. When a Christian sins, they can thank God that their sin no longer separates them from Him. Therefore, they can confidently approach God, receiving His grace and mercy which will help identify why they weren't trusting God when they sinned. That is grace, not law.

We're living in a time right now where people are becoming obsessed with losing their salvation it seems like the enemy is trying to drive a wedge between the children of God and God when they don't know that salvation belongs to God and then he purchased us on the cross that's one of the things that I love about God and he doesn't give up on us even when we give up on ourselves
I agree, I’m constantly worried about my salvation,, I’ve done so many really bad sins, I’m 71 and only recently came to believe Jesus Christ paid for my sins and I was accepted by God the Father, but I worry cause I don’t witness hardly at all and my prayer life is lacking. I know I’m not suppose to look at myself, it’s all about Jesus and the price he paid for his bride.

I did quit Xmas, easter Halloween as I believe them not Christian holy days, but birthdays I do get with my family, I have many little grandchildren and I don’t worship them but I’m being told it’s evil. I don’t know, I need a message from Jesus on this🤔

God has been so good to me if you gave me a million years I could never repay him for all his love I was backslidden homeless in LA county for 8 years hooked on methamphetamines I'm losing my mind during the last year dare people kept telling me strangers kept telling me time to go home go home with your mom and my mom wanted me home so bad but I was stubborn and one of the best things happened is I got hit with congestive heart failure a bulging disc and diabetes and God use that to bring me home and when I came home for the first few months mom took care of me even had a wheelchair at the house because God knew I was going to be weak 8 months before I came home someone asked my mom if she needed a wheelchair and the wheelchair was double her size but it wasn't for her it was for me then when I got better she got worse because she had heart problems she had open heart surgery and I got to take care of her all the way up until she passed away and God gave me a roof over my head he feeds me everyday and he gave me a beautiful blind dog that loves me I have church family most of all have a beautiful savior truly God is married to the backslider and the most beautiful thing is he never gives up as I'm writing this tears come out I kind of like to tell people you want to see a grown man cry let me just tell you how good God has been to me I think God he never lets me give up thank you Jesus when we are weak he is strong

Why would a Calvinist minister preach a message to backsliders? Sounds contradictory. If Once Saved Always Saved is true, then why encourage backsliders to return to the Lord. After all, the backsliders can’t lose their salvation, right?
