This black Detroit 60's chick remembers seeing this on Canadian TV and loving this song and video. One of my favorite buffy sainte marie songs !

Boring elongated hard vibrato, with the most minimal emotional phrasing, Baez that is. Mouskouri's softened inflections is more forgiving tho. Sold milions of vinyl disc tho ? Who'd of thought ?

She overplayed her hand thinking that with Levine on her side she was untouchable. After her unhinged antics as a guest performer in Boston and SF, people were asking, "The Met puts up with this?" Volpe was embarrassed that it was so widely known in opera cycles that he was a wimp who let Battle act out and walk all over him. He ultimately fired her in the most public and embarrassing way possible. With her late start, the Met got her best years.
