Got to say kind of like how theres more of a classical rretro look to the lanes, tho the painted? Masking units are 5/10 for me
The Gold Crown masking units are carpeted. It's the only place I've been where that style was done that way.

The Dream Machine is in fact the same one from back in the day. Unfortunately the one in the mall is the only one remaining, and while it gets a decent amount of traffic, it certainly isn’t anywhere near the level it was at back in the 80s.
You can even still find the old cloud logo on their birthday tokens. I worked there for a short amount of time so I can confirm this.
I still believe they're just using the name, but I can believe it actually was one when the chain was in business.
@@georgef551Well I’ve actually spoken to them about it, and I do believe it’s a remnant of the old arcade chain in more than just name. The owner has owned it since back then, the manager has worked there for ages, so yeah, it’s still a Dream Machine.

I grew up 10 mins away from this mall and spent soooo many hours in this mall in the 90s and 00s. It is vastly different now than it was in its golden days. I went a couple years ago to see how far it has fallen and it is a sad shell of its former self. The dream machine back in the day was sooooo much bigger than what it is now. They had a lan in the back covered under army camouflage where you could rent a computer and play Counter Strike and other games. It was my first introduction to pc gaming and I have so many great memories. They even would have “overnight” lan events where just papa Gino’s and the arcade would be open so you’d have about 15 people all alone in the mall and our parents would pick us up around 7am. Also, this mall used to have a ton of people in it all the time. I remember skipping school with some friends a lot and we would always go here. Good times, sad to see it in this way.
I miss Colonial candlepin in Worcester. The owner was like 90 years old and silly Covid lockdowns killed the lanes.
It wasn't doing bad either when I last shot there. Covid also took New Palace, second easiest place I've been.

I read that casual bowlers that rarely play should not play with a heavier ball, but heavy enough to last, and not get hurt. My range is 10 to 13 lbs. 13 is pushing it, and 14+ is just too heavy (middle finger strain).

Just watched that other video. Yes, brought back more memories. Those domed buttons and no-delay door closings on the galleria freight elevators. As overnight and Sunday (back then) security we would do 3-4 rounds a shift travelling all those services hallways that led from the truck tunnel to the back doors of stores and the galleria taking the elevators whenever possible. We would strategically send them to the floor we would need them next. Once I forgot to enable a floor in the high rise and had to walk back to top up all those flights to recover that freight elevator since we would shut down the main elevators and keep certain floor enablers in the freight during a round. Those trapezoid shaped air handler rooms outside on top as seen from top of garage were above the freight elevators, but we had to walk up to there since elevator didn't go up there. Also rode the glass elevator several times. Thanks again for the memories.
I used to ride the glass elevator when the family was done shopping heading back home. I think WXLO was in the basement in the days. There was a big radio station down there.
I think I remember the big spring at the bottom of the glass elevator shaft. I suppose every elevator has one? But seeing it through the glass was interesting.
@@ken4414 They all have a shock absorber at the bottom, in case they go past the final limit switch at the bottom, plus some protection in the event of freefall.
Used to ride this elevator as a security guard in late 70''s and walk those below ground level halls to the truck tunnel and to other elevators in service areas etc. thanks for the memories!
Haven't traveled them, but "The Catacombs" are still mostly intact. Most of the one that went from the mid-rise to the old parking garage is gone, and some of the mall where it went to the smaller garage also gone. Service corridor to the tunnels still there, which is why Mercantile Street has a 15-ton weight limit (literally driving on the mall's first floor). Irony is the first part of the mall to fail is the only part that almost fully remains (Filene's Wing).
@@georgef551the path from the smaller office building (we called it low rise from its construction terminology) to the parking garage actually was mostly through the lowest level of the south shopping mall area. You would pass by the south end of the truck tunnel by the AC plant which perhaps is still there but updated? It was natural gas powered absorption chillers. Had glass walls to look in as you walked by. Interesting the road goes over all that. The high rise elevators were interesting. They would hunt around periodically between floors long after everyone had left until they settled in for the night. The motor generators I think they were and mechanical switch controls in the top floor service area were kinda interesting to walk by. Wish we had smart phones back then to take pictures.
@@ken4414 I remember that part of "The Catacombs, as that's were Filene's Basement was in the Galleria Days (before the freighter on the same side (left), which I also did a video of, thinking I wasn't in the mall, but the "Low-Rise". I have been places where freighters only served the basement, and a couple floors, and not the rest.

I wonder where? I know the Bowlaway in Gardner was being fixed up while still in business, but I haven't been in awhile, hoping not there. Hopefully work will cooperate, and there will be a "Duck Season" in June at Collins.

Good game I say you do better in regular bowling. At least you bowl 3 games in triple digits. Monday night was my last night of bowling for now until end of august. I had good season had 1 700 series 18 600 series and tie that for last year. And last year I had 5 700 series.
