This tune brings back so many happy memories of playing for hours every day nothing was ever the same , each chorus had it's own identity, and seemed as fresh as a daisy when it came to the gig , it's no wonder that we put a new set of strings on to our guitars every week, we wore them out ! It is fun to change key too, that sharpens up the mind, and opens new doors on the improvisation. Excellent lesson, and it is what puts the gypsy guitar players on top .
🙌❤️🎸
Fats Waller - love this tune! It's probably obvious to many players (I can be a little late to the party), but recently, I was very pleasantly surprised when I realized that I could transpose ideas and B section phrases from Coquette straight over to the B section of Honeysuckle Rose. I also like treating the first part of the A section as a long II-V-I. Delving into your course in the club on this one is definitely high on my list! Thanks Robin!
@@plaidgadjo nice one Brandon yes exactly the bridge is same as Coquette. See you in the club! 🙌🎸🥂

Cool stuff. Great approach! See you 😊👍🎸
Cheers mate see you in the club! 🙌🎸❤️
The most valuable lesson that was ever told by Jimmy Rosenberg, was to close my eyes, and open my ears, what followed was so simple, and since that time I rarely look at my hands when I play, I use my ears to tell me where to go in my playing. Robin has used this system for years, and it opens up new pathways everytime that you pick up the guitar to improvise, Robins lessons will show you how the really great gypsy players think and play , be there on Saturday and your guitar will thank you.
Beautiful Tony! See you in the club! 🙌❤️🎸
That's how the manouche musicians are learning... Most of them don't have strong theory but they can play what they hear! I'll be there.

@@seckhoffable beautiful Sally stay inspired and see you in the club! 🙌❤️🎸
Talking about music and the study of theory in such a negative light is doing a great disservice to many potential young musicians , you don’t become good at anything by taking shortcuts
Anyone committed enough to learning this style can figure out if this approach works for them. I can say it works for me.
@@seckhoffable ❤️
@@salactro we all learn on different ways but by relieving your brain from thinking too much certainly helps with the music. 🙌❤️🎸
Hahaha haha. There are so many ways to waste time in the study of music. This is a valuable concept and something I teach my students as well. In Gypsy Jazz, all the modes and exotic scales in a varity of postions won't hurt you, and I know them, bit I practice the vocabulary of the musical language I want to play. Other accomplished GJ playeres , like Christian Van Hemert and Dennis Chang will tell you the same thing. Charlie Parker practiced patterns.

Great demo, real treat! Am I right that the major and minor triad shapes are used over mist voicings of major and minor chords and the diminished shapes are used from the third of the dominant? If that's enough to get started, that's so sweet!

Haven't got the cash to join right now. I will never be any good at that style. But I'm saving cash for it now and will try soon. I'm a 74 year old Ragtime Blues finger picker who has adapted that style to play old jazz and pop songs. I'm gonna try but later. I have been in touch before and do admire you for teaching. I have some rhythm technique I learnt from you and sing along with. It's great fun.

Hi Ges, nice to meet an old player, I'm one myself... 50 years on the guitar and still learning! Great isn't it!
@@karelperriens4418 we never stop learning! Stay inspired! 🙌🎸❤️
@@karelperriens4418 Hi! Playing guitar is a journey that never ends. There are so many styles and methods to make music and each requires work and can be exciting and fulfilling. It can be extremely frustrating at times. It's like golf.18 handicaps say they would be more than happy to play like a 7 handicap but 7 handicaps are trying to get to scratch. I'd be more than happy to play like Robin (who is far better than an average Gypsy player) but I guarantee you he is still working on things to improve. The fun of it is it never stops and there's always something to learn.
Ya know, I'm a jug band picker. Thought I was hopeless. Wrong-o. I think your curiosity about guitar led you to the right place. Having tried this, I can never go back...even if all I ever wanted to do was play Sadie Green, The Vamp Of New Orleans. Right now, my fave tune is called Douce Ambience. Who knew there were SO many ways to play a D!!!!!!
Nice one ! I really love this way of soloing - thanks !😁 For me this is the best method because if you are soloing around chord shapes it doesn't matter what odd changes may come along because you only need to know the shapes - love it. I remember you showing this in Shrewsbury at your retreat last year over Sweet Georgia Brown and its definitely stuck with me and its really rewarding once you get used to knowing not just the notes in the shape but also using the notes that surround those shapes, and I love it because when you demonstrate it we never lose the feeling of what the song actually is that your playing.! Thanks so much for this and ill see you on Saturday! ACE mate !! '.....in spades ! 🤩😍😍xxx
ahhh mate see you saturday and definitely a zoom catch up is due!
