TheMotleyFrog

My KZread channel is mostly a crafty place. It is focused mainly on paper crafting but you will probably also find a few other videos here and there. The main videos you will find are related to scrapbooking, journal/ephemera making, card making, layout shares, and the occasional haul video. You can also find me on Facebook facebook.com/Froggie251-Scrapbooking-163878987288199/, Instagram at instagram.com/froggie251/ and at my Etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/TheMotleyFrog?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1129981635.

    You used some of my favorite papers ever from Carta Bella! Very cute and festive. 😊 By the way, I believe 3 in 1 is actually acetone based as that is what the manufacturer says to use as a solvent to thin or remove it. I can't remember for sure, but Fabri-Tac might be the alcohol based version. 😊👍

    What gesso do you use?I had bought a gesso to try a while ago and it was really gritty!

  • @TheMotleyFrog
    @TheMotleyFrog6 ай бұрын

    Yeah. All of the white gesso that I have tried is gritty. The only smooth gesso that I can find is clear. I could be wrong but I think the white gesso is meant to be gritty. If you want something that is not gritty you could try white paint. That works if you’re just trying to “push” things to the background. It just isn’t great if you want to do water color or something over it.

    Love these tag journals! So cute! I have a question off topic, I’m so curious about where your channel name came from. It’s funny. My first thought was a frog who sings rock music. I know the spelling isn’t the same as the band, but it made me laugh!

    I love frogs and my KZread channel was called Froggie251. When I was thinking about what to name my Etsy shop, I wanted to stay with a frog theme and because I wanted to sell both handmade items and vintage items that were not necessarily all the same, I decided on Motley Frog because it is a mix of items.

    Love these clusters! Have you ever done a video on coffee dying or tea dying? I’ve never tried that, but love the look!

  • @TheMotleyFrog
    @TheMotleyFrog7 ай бұрын

    Thank you. No, I haven’t done a video on tea/coffee dying. But my process is very simple. I just brew strong coffee or tea, pour it in a bin, add one piece of paper at a time, and let soak for a few minutes. The longer, the darker. Then I pull each piece out and put on the top of my garden wall. The one watch out I would say is to make sure you use a some what decent quality copy paper. I got some cheaper Amazon brand recycled paper one time and it just fell apart on me.

    Do glue sticks hold over time? So disappointing to look in old albums and see pices falling off that I’ve used tape runners for. Maybe glue sticks would be a good option for me. Loving this tag album!

  • @TheMotleyFrog
    @TheMotleyFrog7 ай бұрын

    Good question. I have definitely had that experience with tape runners. Even ones I thought would work great over time. I have been using glue sticks for a few years and haven’t seen any issues when I have used the uhu glue but I only use it on thinner papers. I use a liquid glue when gluing cardstock or more thick/textured papers. I really think it depends on the brand of glue stick you use, how much glue you get down on the paper, and the type of paper you’re gluing on.
