    Thank you for this. I bought and planted lavender (I'm in Tuscany) in early June. Some of the stalks were already long. I now find in mid July that they are grey and spent, while other shorter, blooming stalks are coming up. Should I prune the spent ones and leave the others? Thanks so much.

    Can t hear this very well. You are too far from the mic. One lavender farmer says trim in summer and hard prune in spring. Is that what you are saying ? I dont know where you live. So talking about what month to prune doesn't really help me. I need to know what season to do what. Thank You

    I feel like I’ve tapped into just the right place for some much need divine lavender wisdom. I’m struggling but yet I keep trying. I can get growth, but I’m not getting a bushy return the following spring. Believe me, I’ve been at this for a while. Lol I’ve sheered/trimmed well back after bloom. Not sure if I should trim in fall, preemptively, or in spring. I have been experimenting quite a bit. I just can’t seem to get enough compact or bushiness to my my stead or hidcotes. Do you ever use fertilizer of any kind? Much appreciation for skills!

    Great info thanks for sharing - such an honour to have advice and experiences handed to us the present and future generations, especially now... I'm new at gardening, im guessing i did the following incorrectly: took out a full lavender bush from the roots and planted on the other side of the garden which has very hot day sun with wind early evenings, its 2 weeks now and bush is brown and dry even though watering the whole garden daily...? Please assist with a cure 🌱🍃

    My lavender is about 5ft 5" ,tall and 4ft wide. Its about 16 years old. I never really touch it except for taking some stems in summer autumn. Soil is alkaline and a little stony.Its magnificent. I had it in a little pot for a long time, and it was half dead. I got an allotment and it was the first plant I put on it. It took off with such gusto, and happiness, I am still in awe when I see it. 😊

    Hi. I am a 1st time lavender planter. My plants were very small when planted in July. I live Norway. We just experienced a 0.05 celcius last night. I haven't pruned all 12 but only 3 yesterday. Now I'm afraid to prune the rest for fear of further damage if frist comes tonight or later before the plants have time to recover from pruning. Is this correct? Thank you in advance!

    I must confess to being a gardening Philistine. When my English Lavender "goes over" I just give it a fairly short haircut down to around 10-12 inches with the hedgetrimmer, & it's been rewarding with great blossom year after year.

    I'm a complete beginner gardener .... so please forgive my lack of knowledge 😊 I have some lavender that I bought with dead flowers, but the foliage was so beautiful and healthy. Should I prune it all back like you did with your 9cm pot? I previously pruned each lavender stem off one by one, but left the foliage. I've not had any blooms since after 4 weeks. I'm in Australia, we are in the middle of summer currently

    angustifolia 'Maillette' is renowned for being the best in Europe and quite readily available. It has a sweet scent. If you want a stronger and sharper scent then go for x intermedia 'Grosso'

    Hello I have an English lavender in a big container (first year I bought it in spring).. Should I still prune now? Also should I cover over or around with straw mulch to protect the lavender in winter please. Thank you Natalie

  • @simoncharlesworth6562
    @simoncharlesworth65624 жыл бұрын

    You can still prune lavender very lightly at this time of year. You can mulch, but not too close to the base of the plants as this will create still moist air around the base, which through the winter could give rise to botrytis (grey mould).....lavenders nemesis!

    Another great video on how and when to prune different varieties of lavender. Thankyou. Two successive hot and dry summers here in Essex tells me to seek out tougher, drought resistant shrubs that require less watering without sacrificing colour, beauty and perfume.Evie.
