I pray we can get really really better treatments! This is such a horrible disease! 😢 The treatments shouldn't be so expensive and the treatments should be open not only for the most aggressive scleroderma but for everybody with scleroderma. Please create a direct medication or something that can stop the skin tightening. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💗🕯️

I had stage 3 lung cancer, which was deemed inoperable due placement of one of the lymph nodes. After chemo treatments I was able to have surgery and the surgeon removed my lower left lung. After surgery pathology came back that I am cancer free. I'm having immunotherapy treatments and ct scans and a shadow was found on my left adrenal gland. My oncologist wants to have a biopsy done, thanks to your video, I'm going to veto that procedure. I'd also like that I have a KRAS g12v mutation

Great work! This series taught me a lot, but I also really appreciated those guiding principles at the end. Personally humility is vital in the clinical lab.

My husband and I got diagnosed with this but we've been together for 7 years and have been our only sexual partners with each other. We work together and tell each other everything. Is it possible to get this parasite in other ways than sex? I've asked my personal OBGYN and primary care doctor about this situation and they just keep suggesting one of us cheated on each other but none of us have we've been very faithful to each other and have three children together. I'm so confused 😕.

There are different types. They all seem to cause peripheral neuropathy + many types also cause mitochondrial dysfunction. Type I demyelinating (shows up on an EMG) and Type II, axonal ( doesn't necessarily show up strongly on an EMG, despite muscle weakness, and can show up later in life ). There are other rarer types as well. Google CMT Association. The website describes symptoms in more detail.

I recently got HS CRP and LP PLA2 results from labs my endocrinologist ordered. But he didn't explain the two tests and the value of each. So I'm happy that Dr. Donato explained each and the fact that the LP PLA2 test is more specific to cardio issues. I'm pleased that the first of the two was <.30 and the second was 99.

This is what killed my mother. She was on Remicaid at the time and you're really not supposed to take Remicaid if you have ever lived in the Mississippi River Valley which we did for 20 years. I think the doctor missed her risk factor as she had moved by that time and wasn't living in that area anymore. This wasn't common at all in the area she moved to.

I was bitten by a tick last summer - - found it on my back and thought it was some weird, new skin tag. It was likely there for a week or more and I'd washed over the tick without noticing it. I did have a fever a few nights - - the "wake up with a wet pillow" kind, but felt fine during the days. it was identified as a dog/wood tick(not by my GP, but by sending a photo to a Michigan state agency), but I was given a course of antibiotics, but no follow-up. I had some aching of my joints and seem to have developed a bad knee, since then, despite regular exercise (which generally protects knees). It could be coincidence... but I'm suspicious that it's not and upset that as soon as Lyme is ruled out, it became a non-issue to my GP. Where I live (wooded, rural area), we've had an explosion of ticks, but mostly wood/dog ticks. Since it's a rural area, doctors are spread thin, so I and many other patients rely on Family Nurse Practitioners, who don't seem particularly curious - - if there's a simple answer, that's THE answer. It's frustrating and I'll probably never know if my bad knee (I often think it's finally getting better, then it flares up) is linked to the tick bite.

I experience unbearable psychiatric and neurological issues that began with their roots in a different kind of infection, bacterial, that induced Autoimmune Encephalitis in 2001 @ age 13. All tests come back normal now. I’ve tried so many psychiatric meds and reacted severely to many. I think the general consensus among doctors is that it is time for me to put myself 6 feet under.

Hi ma'am i am from India and leprosy cases we still see here though less because of meds but still social stigma is prevalent and i have seen cases with deformity like depressed nasal bridge or auto amputation too maily of fingers or severe red eye etc and still they lead an isolated life though we are in pinnacle of development in medical field and in India Baba Amte a social activist was a great man who sacrificed his life for the well been of lepers and lived with them till his death and worked for their upliftment.Anyways ma'am thankyou for the same and good to know it's a rarity there as it is not only a physical diseases but emotionally and mentally too the patient are affected in everyways because of isolation etc 👍😀

I don't share the optimism of people who say malaria cannot become endemic in the U.S. or has only a vanishingly small chance of doing so. In some ways we're worse off than in the 1950s when it comes to our public health systems and social vulnerabilities. We vast numbers of homeless people living out of doors in places where initially localized outbreaks like this begin. They live unprotected from mosquitoes, they have little to no regular connection with health care. For financial reasons and factors like addiction and mental illness, they're not likely to seek or receive health care when they may be symptomatic. It's possible, though not common to have asymptomatic but still infectious patients. It's far more likely that a greater number of people than identified suffered moderate symptoms and are still running around. The vivax malaria identified in the U.S. recently is able to go dormant in the liver and reactivate months or years later. The political culture in many of these states is deeply hostile toward public health authorities and scientific medicine in general. As we saw with Covid, many people who are not receptive to information about an infecitous disease will widely ignore precautions or scientific treatment and will often go out of their way to do the opposite of what mainstream science says. We still have the anopheline mosquitoes capable of transmitting malaria. We have large numbers of vulnerable people, likely some unidentified number of them infected. It's really just a matter of reaching a critical mass of infections before malaria becomes a regular thing again in this country.

I was diagnosed with Infectious AE in 2001 at a children’s hospital in Tennessee. I recovered from the coma but have had severe, very odd psychiatric symptoms since then. I traveled to Mayo Clinic in 2019 to hopefully find answers. It seems my brain and immune system never fully became “friends” after my diagnosis in 2001. But after lab tests and MRI they said all looks normal that I just need more psychiatric pills 💊 But instead of more pills in my brain, I’m gonna end up with a bullet.

Dr Nancy - Could it be possible that the significant increase in fungal infections might have something to do with the mRNA vaccine? I know that about a month after my first vaccine, my fungal infection (which was present prior), became significantly worse. The mRNA vaccine is cultured using mold and yeast. Please respond if possible... Thank you.

I was bitten in 1991. Doctor refused to test. I had all symptoms, bullseye rash and had been camping the week before. I am now seriously ill. Finally tested for Lyme and it was positive. Four doctors told me to go to Mayo, because I am still testing IgM+ for Lyme and co-infections (3 IgM+ and 5 IgG+ bands) as well as other bacterial and viral infections. I am also immunocompromised. I applied to Mayo, and was told today that my application was rejected because they don’t have any treatment options for me. I haven’t been treated. That seems to be lost on the doctor who reviewed my very through medical history that I submitted. The lack of care for those with Lyme and co-infections is criminal.
