What was the brown paper things that went up first? Were they stencils off sorts? I want to do this to the side of my little barn but just can’t figure out the easiest way.
Did you use stencils ? If so where did you get them ?
Thanks for sharing!
great paint work! it would be better if you didnt speed up timelapse the whole thing and then slow motion footage of a finished sign and you with a dry brush and faking it?
Yep...I did a 5 year apprenticeship in Portsmouth, England in 1965 and still doing it to this day. Along the way Iv'e learnt airbrushing, computer graphics, murals, canvas painting and loved every minute of it...most commercial craft on Earth, always somebody wanting something done and never been short of orders.
Almost teared up when I saw the goose island work. So beautiful.
I've been sign painting now, for 35 years myself. Educated in art school in Chicago as well. My father was a sign painter for many years too. This video is the best documentary on the industry I've seen to date! I wish this gentleman & family all the best!
Thank you for the video, we can learn so much from our elders if we just watch and listen. Really awesome work Ches, great respect from the son. Beautiful
Great video and dang, these signs are incredible. As a long time designer who's been doing big outdoor signage recently, I'm so inspired by your craftsmanship. Cheers! #alwayshandpaint

Love your work, from a want to be sign writer .
I am a window painter looking to learn how to paint quality hand painted signs. Could you suggest a book that would list the common tools needed for this art form? I have ordered a few brushes I use with my window painting. I have know idea where to start.
