  I lived in Alamogordo for 20 years and have harvested over a dozen of them. Not bad eating.

  @@sidjckc7664 Jornada del Muerte, Small Missile Range, McGregor (including Otero Mesa), Rhodes Canyon. Off range Oro Grande area North to AO11 out to Tres Hermanas. These are areas off the top of my head that I remember. I still have my once in a lifetime hunt I have yet to draw. I was a Border Patrol Agent for 30 years so I routinely patrolled the aforementioned areas. I had an advantage due to my daily duties, I pretty well knew where oryx would be in most areas.

  You are absolutely right, they are great table fare! I’ve been on a half dozen hunts for these and they can be tough to kill. What cartridge did you use?

  Too bad they are an invasive species with no natural predators. If you come across one be sure to keep your distance as they can be very dangerous.

  Too bad their potential natural predators have been nearly eradicated… Mexican wolves. Cougars and bears too, if only they had higher populations themselves. Also, I read that the government and/or military are solely responsible for the oryx, as they mainly live on federal land. So they’re still invading off base?

  i hike a lot; it is pretty rare to see one. this one horned one does seem to hanging out in solidad canyon--near the old house

  I moved here in 2017 and I certainly don't miss the snow nor humidity. Great place for amateur astronomy too.

  @@erikm8372 BLM land for the most part, but they wander onto some private property too. I suppose they wander into White Sands Missile Range which is huge and also includes the Trinity Site.

  no; 4 miles round trip www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/new-mexico/valley-of-dreams-loop getting there is a little tricky. I'd recommend printing some maps as there is no cell service out there
