Super film - Like!!!
Thank you - very pleased you liked it
It is a very peaceful and carming video.I like it very much.x
A very soothing way to begin my day: thanks, Benj! More later (if I remember...).
That was lovely, great to see 1 and 2, the original engines, running the service. Brought back a lot of memories of my volunteering days on the TR, a very enjoyable time. 😊
Reminded me, too, of very happy times on the TR. The most 'rural' parts of the line seem to retain every bit of the character and atmosphere from the 70s and 80s
Just like i remember it nearly 40 years ago. I have been back 25 year ago but hope to get there again in my lifetime.
Well I hope you manage it. Arguably the greatest place to experience 'real' steam - and I remain more addicted than ever to its magic!
Stunning sound, stunning loco and stunning locations.
Thank you Andy. The West Highland Extension is THE very best place to appreciate main line steam! Away from the crowds, and on the climb to Beasdale summit is a location that will transport you back to the sixties steam you remember!
自然の中を走るSLがとても美しい。 チャンネル登録をしました。🐱
Another lovely video Dave well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on KZread bye for now Philip
Well done for letting the camera run after the train has passed by. Would have been a shame to miss that glorious sound.
Brilliant ! She's talking to the sky. I loved the slip.
Awesome! Well worth the extended soundtrack.
The sound was spectacular and extremely memorable. I'm remembering Market Overton, an Open Day at 'Steamtown' and a last run up Hatton Bank - in the mid 1970s!
One for the uphill chuff lovers
Very good Dave.x
Great piece of filming and a superb advert for both railways.
Thank you Lewis. A particularly memorable day.
Another excellent film. Narrow gauge at it's best. Sound, scenery, motive power. It has it all. Thanks for posting.
And many thanks for your comments.....It was a really excellent day with the F&WH railways at their very best.
Great stuff. We had a brilliant weekend!
Thank you. Saturday's special train was particularly memorable.
Cracking movie, memories of my countless trips on the FR, first 1961 …..last 2022!
Very pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. If I'm comparing filming steam on the mainline, or on our fiercest gradients, or otters on Mull...then capturing the annual FWHR 'Snowdonian' special probably beats everything.....
This is absolutely amazing ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for leaving a comment! It truly was an amazing day - and what a great advert for the world of narrow-gauge steam.....
Awsome video i wend on friday i subscribed u chanal cheers from netherlands
Thank you - pleased you liked the video! It was a great Steam Gala with brilliant sounds and a great atmosphere.
@@davebenjamin5380 Yeas it was friday i had good weather although from time to time there were strong winds though i enjoyed filming the ride with double header fron keighley to worth station special uphil was awsome
Brilliant capture. I captured it last Saturday arriving at Potters Bar but unfortunately it stopped past the end of the platform.
Many thanks - pleased you liked it. Saw your video, sounded good as it accelerated away into the distance - pity about the fierce wind.
I doubt they would let that through New Street / Grand Central without the exceptionally powerful and reliable BR 47 keeping affairs in order.
Great video
Thank you Josh, pleased you liked it
Klasse video Dave, good video :)
Thank you Simon, pleased you liked it.
Great video with wonderful,sounds !
Thank you! The KWVR is well known for locomotives working hard - the GWR pair took sounds to another level!
Great film. The sounds get even better.
Thank you! Comments and feedback are so greatly appreciated. The KWVR has some great assets - thoughtful and enthusiastic staff and volunteers, 'lively crews', steep gradients, interesting industrial, urban and open scenery - and this has remained the same for the last 56 years!
Love this video. Thanks
Good to hear! Enjoyable day despite the frequent squally showers and cool wind.
Thanks Benj..!
It was great to share some of those memorable moments!@@Matt-wm9vl
Another lovely video dave well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on KZread bye for now Philip
Pleased you liked it! The next video will feature Pendennis Castle and Witherslack Hall at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railways' Spring Gala - hopefully uploaded on Monday 25th March. Thanks for viewing - and for making a comment!
Nature is wonderful! We sometimes see murmurations locally, but not on this scale, lovely video.
Pleased you liked it! The murmurations were a highlight throughout those rather dull and grim months of December, January and February- extra good to witness on days when the wind dropped, accompanied by a sunset.
❤ love this! Incredible footage Benj
Thank you Lucie - I'll be in touch soon.
This is incredible to see 😊
And incredible to witness on many evenings since December - similar format every day but variations depending on wind direction, choice of lake, predators especially the peregrines. Despite our Bitterns, Otters and Nightingales - you have wildlife aplenty on your doorstep!
Great video! I saw 60007 arriving at London Kings Cross.
Very envious! An A4 near the end of the platform at Kings Cross is always an iconic moment - stationary under the roof brings back memories of A4s there in the early 60s - despite the catenary and everything of the modern railway....
Enjoyed your video a lot so thanks for showing, my fav steam loco is the A4, i have a soft spot for SNG after walking through the tender and riding on the footplate for a few miles at NYMR, i have subscribed...Mal
Thank you for subscribing Mal! You'll find some other videos of 4498/60007 in the DBLM Steam Complete Playlist - and I would recommend the one featuring 60009, on train recording, KX to Doncaster - and particularly the re-start from the Royal Mail Terminal in Doncaster.....
Brillaint video! I saw her departing London Kings Cross.
Thank you. I'm always looking for sound more than visuals - and usually you can't go wrong when a Black Five is involved!
v. enjoyable. Tx
Not one of my best (rain and focusing issues got in the way earlier in the day) - but the final scene is always a priceless one for me and takes me back to the 'glorious years' of everyday steam in the late 50s and early sixties - when a silent evening in the middle of nowhere could be broken by the laborious plod of a barking monster!
LIke this very much Dave Especially the night scenes .
Very pleased to hear. It's well below my usual video standards but I uploaded it mainly because of the last sequence at Woodwalton. It's a great location to remember the real days of steam - no onlookers, a black night, and the ever-increasing (and then disappearing) sound of a steam locomotive dominating the eerily quiet landscape!
The sound of approaching trains and night shots make another successful video.
Encouraging to hear! My priorities are always sound over visuals - and after dark can have great advantages, particularly as the wind often drops and there's less traffic and people around to 'get in the way'!
Brilliant! That long pan at 3.20 is sensational (guess the rabbit wasn't too keen...). Thanks Benj.
Thank you Matt. One of those rare days when everything went well. Lucky with the panning - less vegetation in winter. Grassthorpe crossing is about two miles from the water stop at Carlton loop - location chosen to capture the sound as 44871 accelerated up the 1/200. Skylarks singing, no wind, sunshine, great sounds from 44871 (as usual) and the diesel keeping a low profile. A very enjoyable day.
Thanks for posting another great video Dave. The sound on your films is exceptional.
Pleased you liked it - and that you must have a good sound system on which to fully appreciate the sounds (I use an external microphone and a really good windshield).
Fantastic video, some great filming locations
Thank you - agreed, there are so many great filming locations all over the FWHR!
Benj talent. Liked the murmurations reflected in still waters. And the various skies. And the honking geese. Pity they were not steam trains!!!
I thought you'd like this one! Good news is that they have returned, in bigger numbers, although seem to be heading to somewhere like Etton or Deeping.
Very good Dave,Enjoyed watching.
Pleased you liked it. They were back yesterday, great display. But today may have chosen Etton....
Personally one of your best videos. Calming, mesmerising. The reflections in the water are stunning. And there had to be a trains.
Thank you, comments so greatly appreciated! The trains could have been avoided but I thought the contrast between advanced and noisy technology at 100mph and the silence and purely natural sounds would add to the effect.
I wasnt complaining about the trains. Was nice to see
The Starlings have moved east by a couple of miles and are putting on even better displays!@@susanrush9654
Beautiful, mesmerizing, meditative! So nicely filmed! What an amazing creature!
'Amazing creature' - do you mean me or the Starling?
BOTH!!!@@davebenjamin5380
Yep pretty impressive Benj, loving the reflections.
Thank you Steve. A lot of the unused footage featured the reflections but without the best in murmurations - always difficult to capture the best of everything.
Agree with the b/w comment. Helps to appreciate the steam and smoke. Perhaps the close-by residents might disagree!!
The smoke is not really a problem for the residents - the main place for smoke is around Loughborough station at around departure times - and there's very little housing in 'direct line of fire'. But an annoyance for residents is car parking outside their houses on gala days....
Love all the smoke.
I chose the early mornings on purpose because you usually get the most smoke and steam, with lower temperatures and the locos being eased into action at the start of the day. Pleased you liked it.
Like the mix of locations, and looks great in b&w.
Thank you Mr Jones. Seeing it in b&w constantly reminds me of the GC in the mid 1960s when 8Fs, 9Fs were the mainstay(along with Black 5s). My video is different to most of the others - I reckon it has added atmosphere! However, nothing can compete with those who managed to secure 'closer to the line' locations with some superb footage. But no-one else used a bike and a milk crate!
Thank you for sharing. Incredible footage
An hour or so in that location was quite exhilarating!
Surfs up!
I’d like to watch this on the big screen Benj.
And I would like to show it to you on a big screen. But you'll be asleep within 30 seconds with your concentration span.....)
