Becoming a Craftsman

Becoming a Craftsman

Hello! Thanks for visiting my channel!
The intentions of this channel are to showcase my work as I learn to craft things out of wood. I am working towards becoming a craftsman in furniture and all sorts of woodcraft. Mostly all of my experience and knowledge comes from what I have learned on youtube. I hope to share with you all that I am learning, the good and the bad. If you have questions or suggestions engage in the comments or send me an email.

I’m new to woodworking and was wondering what kind of plane that was you were using at the 6:50 mark to route out the space for the foam.

Thats a great looking fly box and thx for the video. If you could be so kind, what is the thickness of your top and bottom? where did you find hinges and the magnet? and what kind of oil did you use? Beautiful craftsmanship with hand tools, love it.

do you know the name of that planner? I've been looking for a similar one and can't find it anywhere!

Looks like a Veritas router plane, not 100% sure, but very traditional, you could just use a palm router... but I think the beauty of this video was that he did it all with hand tools.

Peterdrex thank you, it was a fun project, I got the foam in a 10 pack bundle from Amazon. I had to cut it down to the size I wanted and it wasn’t very sticky so I epoxied it in.

Watching your video I really had the sense of going back in time, not a single sound of a modern shop. The magnets threw me off a little though. Nice job and a thumbs up.

So eucalyptus is a hard wood? I’ve never used it so I had no idea. But the sound of your planes and then the super hard bit driving gave it away.

Yep! Definitely a hardwood. It’s fantastic firewood. (Don’t burn it in a fireplace tho) this stuff was super dense. The hardest part was the holes 😓
