The enjoyment of a good shoe shine is one thing but a welcoming friendly personality makes it better yet. Looks like he won them over quickly.

Mexicans do a soap clean, 2 layers of conditioner, 2 or even 3 layers of polish, full shine up, etc. 1 dollar. This guy just does a clean and 1 layer of polish. Very poor. And I bet he charged more than 1 dollar!

Hi Mr Willie, Jason Dornstar uses saddle soap. He has a youtube channel on shoe shining. And he wears shoes that are shined all the time. kzread.info/dron/ZaU6hJDJKkxvESXMPyUMSg.html

Not really, I'd assume it's a guard against clumping of wax. Just in case theres a build up, that popping will quickly snatch off a lump. If he didn't and there was a lump somewhere, it would just rock back and forth. Educated guess.

Use to be a shoe shine man where I worked in Savannah. Back in the 1980s.Man he was great...he would pop that rag and sing old southern hymns. FYI many are asking why he did not do anything to top of boots. They are made of vinyl..not need for polish. Just clean with a wet wipe. I will need to go see Mr Willie. He is only about 20 minutes away.
