  I lived on Jane St. in 70s and used to take subway every morning from Jane & Bloor. Loved those times and miss them a lot.

  Now, the CNE before 1985 was amazing. Great footage of how it was until after the 1984 season. Then the focus became on the Molson Indy and clearing out the midway and generally diminishing it down to a shadow of what it was.

  Neat video but, unlike a couple of posters, I can't say I'd pine for the 70s. As a kid, I lived half the 70s downtown around Yonge and Wellesley and much of Yonge was very dumpy and sketchy. Drugs, fights, lowlifes, decay and two brutal stabbing murders on my old street (St. Joseph).

  Michael Beck is an Episcopalian priest now. Years ago, I attended a small church function down South. I said a quick hello to “Father Mike” who was one of the people in charge. When he responded, I said, “Hold it. I know your voice.” At first he told me I was wrong. Then he said something about narrating some books, but I knew that wasn’t it. He finally confessed to having been on “Murder She Wrote.” I wondered what else he’d starred in and “Xanadu” came up. He’s in this clip. Anyway this is my 1 degree of separation from ONJ story. And for the record, Mike was a super nice, down to earth guy.
