During the fight with Angstrom levy at one point Mark comes out of a portal holding a sniper from fortnite. Its a very blink and you’ll miss it moment but i think that’s part of why it works well it doesn’t take over the scene but if you notice it it’s a cool touch

About the cartoon comedy tropes thing, I definitely feel the "battle of the sexes" thing. Growing up, literally zero kids I knew genuinely cared about some "boys vs girls" thing, but there were so many cartoons that had at least one episode that tried to push that trope

It's been a while since this video has been uploaded, but for anyone sorting by new, here's my criticism of these guys' criticism: 5:45 This seems to be the root of all problems. I find it very strange that you feel the strength of Helluva Boss is in the structure of IMP going into the human world and doing jobs there. In my and I feel the opinion of most people who watched the show, the pilot is by far the worst part up until season 2, and season 1 already used this structure only sparingly, and the episodes that did seem to generally be viewed as the worse ones. You yourself made your big positive video about the show after episode 2, which did not follow this structure. That isn't to say your point here is without merit, the inconsistency is arguably the show's greatest issue and I absolutely agree that Season 2 should have used this structure more. 11:30 Well, as Blitzo and Stolas' relationship changed, so did Stolas' relationship to the plot of the show. To be crystal clear, that we as viewers are meant to become invested into not just the transactional, but also the personal relationship of these two characters is the whole point, and wanting Stolas' character to be more about how and why IMP can access the grimoire is conservative-level media literacy. 15:40 It is pretty telling that all plot-thread examples you have mentioned have come back by the mid-point of season 2. Once again I will mention when I believe your critique is apt, there are character moments that feel like they should have more, or at least less subtle impact than they do. The acid trip reconciliation being a big one. 19:32 Another big issue I feel you guys genuinely seem to not understand the show. Episode 2's change in relationship between Stolas and Octavia was a milestone in their relationship in the way that Stolas beforehand neglected his daughters emotions and infantilized her. This does not fix the problems in their relationship, and the fact you believe it should is baffling to me. 21:37 If truth-seekers had set up things that were only planned to be relevant in season 2, you would've complained about it as dangling plot-threads. Moxie's truth-seekers hallucination was about his relationship with Blitzo, while Blitzos was mostly his failed relationships. This is not an issue. It can be explained both structuarlly as it his backstory won't be relevant soon as well as textually, as Moxie is a less troubled person as Blitzo. He has issues, but he is in a better place than Blitzo is, so his visions are about his currently most troubling relationship. 23:50 Agreed on Luna's backstory.
