I LOVE DRAWING. I love it so much that I've built my life around it. For the past nearly 23 years I've been teaching drawing- first at universities and colleges, and then in private lessons for the last 16 years. The process of watching a budding artist gain skills and blossom is so rewarding, I feel very lucky to wake up to teach drawing every day. I believe drawing is a TEACHABLE and LEARNABLE SKILL! You don't have to be born with talent. You just need a patient, communicative teacher to break it down into steps that you can master. It isn't instant, but once you have these skills - no one can take them away from you. Drawing gives you a voice, a way to show people your heart and soul. I hope you join me, put in the time, and learn just how amazing you can be! Join me for more IN-DEPTH TUTORIALS on my website, LZMStudio.com!

I have two prismacolor kneaded erasers and didn’t open them forever, and they are hardened on the outside. I carefully peeled away the hard outer shell, and kept the softer parts, but I am trying to see if I chop up the hard parts, and see if we can soften it
Thank you for your recommendation on this drawing board. It looks fantastic but it’s just a little out of my budget right now. I will look into it for the future. I returned the two easels that I didn’t need and I got a drawing board very similar to the one you have. I got it at Hobby lobby for 32 bucks. That was more in my budget right now. it’s definitely big enough for the art that I do and it’ll work for my needs right now. It’s not made out of the same material that yours is; it’s made out of Beechwood (hence the low price), but it’s still functions the same as yours. it doesn’t have the adjustable horizontal bar, but it does have the ledge at the bottom.
@@lostintheclouds8719 sounds great! Budgets matter!
Love Blackwings and never felt the need to collect all of them... there's only four lead types, which is easy to memorize. I have the standard leads and one special edition because I enjoyed the look of it.
@@nari8429 nice!!

Try. ArtTutor Grid Pic----very easy. to use --!
I have the same one. My trick is to place it on the edge of the surface, then you can push it all the way down.
Nice!!
While I appreciate the video comparison, it’s a bit annoying that you don’t remember if you sprayed fixative on the entire example sheet of paper….when that sheet is supposed to show the comparison lol
Human over here, which means far from perfect🤣
What kind of brushes do you use?
I usually go for less expensive brush packet- because I’ve found that even spending $10-25 per brush doesn’t guarantee it won’t shed or fray easily, especially the tinier the brush is, unfortunately. Here is the variety of bulk brush I often purchase, but Amazon brands always change so it is a bit of a gamble, amzn.to/4cCrBQD
@@Lzmstudio Thank you.
Like someone commented, I recently removed a dent from watercolor paper by damping it, and then iron it. I place thin sheet of paper between the iron and the watercolor paper. Gently iron the dent. If it’s not extremely dented it should work.
I’ll have to try that sometime! Would work better for watercolor than for graphite though because watercolor paper has very different properties than drawing paper!
Excellent I’ll add this to my floor stretching because I’m in a lot of pain from doing my art
I hope something helps so you can keep creating! I also have links to two books that have helped me, and some tools that have helped: kzread.info/head/PLmuk19K4PkT6yCudo9WZJ1CK152wGu5l_&si=3hNCS9ks8Urc4tqr
I have a few prismacolor erasers that I recently purchased and they are unfortunately going in the trash.. I can't for the life of me use them
It’s the worst. Ugh.
Can we erase it with regular eraser?
Hmm not if you’ve used water with it, but if you use it dry it erases- it just gets into the low spots of the paper better than a pencil will so it doesn’t erase as well.
dosnt matter if i can see the circle that makes upp the head and the shape of the jaw or do the loomis method. The details is where i fail massivly i am all alone and i live in sweden. Living in a small town with no money to get a mentorship or go to an art school. And am one of those that cant figure out what it is i'm doing wrong no matter how many times i try.
I just visited Sweden for the first time- so beautiful! So no one is meant to just spontaneously figure it out on their own- you need someone to teach you! Watch all my free videos then hop on over to LZMstudio.com for my advanced online course material for a month or two. It will help! I’ve also done zoom lessons with folks in Sweden before- so I’m happy to help if you can save some $ for lessons. The real takeaway is there isn’t anything wrong with you that you can’t teach yourself and I promise you if you get help and then put in the work this is a skill you can learn. Hang in there!
Can I scan printer paper after inking my art?
Sure?
Apple
Thanks for teaching me there is a dab emoji out there😁
Thankyou for making these videos! Being an artist taxes the body fat more than people realise, and can be a leading factor in why sometimes we aren’t able to create anything, I think we subconsciously know it leads to pain - so we choose not to sit down and work - I’ve had stages where I try and approach the desk, but as soon as I see it my mind says “nope” and I just walk away - leading to prolonged periods of no creativity. Excersize, good posture and good over all health is critical in maintaining a positive creative output.
It is so true- and a lot of work to maintain!
Always keep your feet flat on the ground, they sometimes end up contorting into very strange positions..flat feet are the basis for holding good posture. Also , correct breathing and tongue posture should not be neglected, always breath through the nose with tongue on roof of mouth (known as “mewing”, look it up) - this aids in focus, and will prevent any skeletal misformation that can occur whilst sitting for long periods - this is very important for our health. And always, always get up every half an hour, move around and hydrate. There is no one part of holding good posture more important than the other - if one things off, then everything’s off.
It is so true- thanks for these other suggestions!
I have Faber castell , a little white hard one that came qith my pencils that work way better.
yup, regular erasers are better but also these kneaded erasers are good: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fH6JydlpfNPVkcY.html
Mine too! Never qorked at all.
ugh, I'm sorry. Try these: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fH6JydlpfNPVkcY.html
There are in addition --many apps that place accurate grids over your fotos===
ooh, I need to look for these, thanks for the tip!
This is correct --very accurate -have used it for 50 years to enlarge my wildlife fotos onto canvas for painting -----
Thanks!
Yeah im really not a fan of prismacolor. Everything of that brand that I bought had major design issues. The kneaded erasers just surprised me because its like how do you even get that wrong? I mean they have been making art supplies for a long time. If it were any other company there would have been a batch recall.
Agreed. I still use their colored pencils, but I know other artists have stopped using them due to recent changes. It just seems like they are ignorant of the issues or they are blatantly ignoring them, which is sad.
my kneadable eraser and my just tears, and rips!! SOOOO ANNOYING!!!
UGH. I'm sorry.
The mask you are using will not protect you from inhaling the fixative.
I understand. It is slightly better than nothing. I actually use a respirator at my studio, but hadn't brought that to the film studio.
I’m wanting to use this for painting, but my canvas is flat and rolled up. Will it support that? I would need to attach it somehow so it holds, but so far this is the only one I like that seems to allow me this freedom to adjust and not be hunched
You'd need a canvas stretcher or at least a wood to attach the canvas to. It is also quite small, so I've switched to this one instead: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHh-t5aTcputn8Y.html Hope this isn't too late, KZread was hiding these comments from me!
@@Lzmstudio thx so much for your reply. I ended up buying 6 diff easels, but returned 3 of them. I kept a tabletop 10”, and a larger telescoping legs one. I use the Daler for small pieces. However, after seeing the one you recommended (I have not yet watched your review), I think I’m going to return both easels and go with that martin pro drawing board. I saw something very similar to this in Hobby Lobby but it is made from a low quality wood. I personally hate wood. I’m not a fan of splinters, so I will google this martin pro board. I look forward to watching your review. What i have seen so far, is i like how it adjusts. It seems easier than the wood. Thx again for recommending it.
can it erase any color implements that is requried for coloring like crayon etc
Crayon is very wax based so I don't think anything can erase crayon!
@@Lzmstudio any eraser would have been their for crayons
im new to art and my art teacher gave me like 6 kneaded erasers and I had no idea what to do, ty
Glad I could help!
Thank you! 💜
Aw, thank you! :)
With the wood, I'd say it's because you're not using the correct size sharpener - grafwood are larger than a standard size pencils. I've never had this problem and I use a larger than standard pencil.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean- but yes these are larger than standard size, they don't fit in standard pencil sharpeners.
My neck used to pain a lot but not now
That is great news!
I have the Prismacolor kneaded eraser and what I do to make it a little bit more malleable is to place it on top of a warm pot lid for a few minutes. It gets a bit more malleable but then it returns to it usual state 😕
A great idea! But also, what an annoyance to have to do - that would make my long drawings take so much longer!
Interesting book. I would say it looks more like complementary to Loomis than a full replacement. Loomis had a lot of text but it was pretty useful text (I always say people to actually read the books not just look at the drawings)I don't think there is any one book that will teach you everything about drawing. You can learn more if you look a different stuff.
True!
Uh my kneaded eraser is rock solid
Boo. I'm so sorry.
"google translator : Portuguese / English" ... ?
???
Ooh; you look sexy today. 🧑🎨♾️🎭Nice collection; I want some Blackwings too!✍️
There is an extender now when the pencil is very short.
An extender for blackwings 🧐?
Add the "Matte"- very dark soft improvement
Nice!
This is a good review, watching this in Feb, 2024😊
🙏🏼thank you so much!
I just bought the 9B and F today. First the price was better than the others. And were asthetically pleasing, as the others were kind of ugly! The F, I really liked for the purpose I'll be using it for. But, the 9B compared to my 6B Staedtler... The 6B glides way smoother, is darker without putting pressure and builds up better. I found you have to press quite hard for the 9B. I also had never heard of the Rembrandt brand before today. However, thinking that they're, German, I thought they'd be an excellent product 😔. I wish, Australia, had more variety to choose from. I mostly do digital art. But I love sketching out loads of ideas on paper with two decent pencils.
I’d love to know if there are any Australian brands of pencils!?
@@Lzmstudio I have not come across an Australian made pencil brand... Though, I haven't been to a proper art supplies store in some years to see a bigger range of products. By doing a google search I assume there isn't 😢.
I thought you're actually going to show how to fix it.
We need the company to stop robbing people. I am not a chemist so I know of no way to fix it😞
I remember how cautious I was during the first lockdown. I feel for you then. It brings back a kind of nostalgia somehow...
I do miss the sense that we were all in the same boat… but oof it was rough in so many ways
Love that tune in your intro.
You’re the only one besides me😆 I get complaints
Darn it I was hoping I could fix it
I’m sorry. I’m not an alchemist🤣
I do not get the hipe. They are to long and backheavy with the erasor. And I always carry a real "stand-alone" erasor.. and when drawing it is in my left hand ... pencil i right hand. So I look at them, and buy some more Faber-Castell, Staedtler or Mitsubishi Hi-Uni
Mostly I do too. But I do like a blackwing for note taking
this series of videos is sooo underrated, amazing work, very detailed.
Thank you so much. I guess I’m not interweb flashy enough🤷🏻♀️ it has been a tonnnnnnn of work so it is nice you get that!!💝
@@Lzmstudio maybe just changing the thumbnails and a more attractive title could help, anyway I'll continue watching the series.
I just got a kneaded eraser in a PrismaColor sampler pack, and let's just put it this way it doesn't knead it solidified itself into a solid eraser. x(
I so feel your pain. Ugh.
@@Lzmstudio it sadly never fully reconstituted so I have a quasi-eraser
@@Zworykin I so get it. Buy a Lyra brand instead!!
@@Lzmstudio my original one I had from a Barnes and noble set of pencils dried out and started working again . 😅 But still lesson learned on buying sampler packs though... At least the other two prismacolor erasers are nice the kneaded one turned back into a rock. I'll have to check out the brand you mentioned. Thank you for the suggestion!
Wow such great artwork on the apples
Thank you so much!
Watching this because I was wondering why my brand new prismacolor eraser was a literal rock 😭 i cant even break it apart its SOLID 😂
So frustrating. They are thieves 🤦🏻♀️
Oh last thing...do you have a go to pencil that I should work with for everyday drawing? I'm just sketching and trying to learn as I go. Maybe a B?
Totally depends on your hand control. I tend to think most brands in a 2B or 3B can get a full value range so when I go on a trip I usually just take one of those!
