Another great episode from you both. Been a long time listener but had to sign here for this comment. I just want to say dont listen to anyone hating. These are YOUR experiences. These are YOUR trials and tribulations. And no one can take that from you. Keep being great! Love the new direction. Much love

Did you guys do any research at all into this topic before posting this video? It comes off as the most minimizing dismissive and down right incorrect take on the topic I have seen in a long time. Neither of you can even define what anxiety is. What anxiety actually is is the feeling of dread/ despair/ worry that something or more than likely everything can and will go wrong at all times. Randy talks about a general childhood separation anxiety that is pretty normal for children unless it was a regular occurrence and caused other issues during childhood. An actual condition would be when it gets to the point of not wanting to go to school because you cant be away from your parent that long. Then Dylan goes into how anxiety is people being out to get you at all times, that would be classified under paranoia, a very separate disorder. Anxiety is not a catch all term for any mental disorder and co-mingling them as if they are all under one condition is minimization and frankly disrespectful to people who deal with it regularly. @10:32 Dylan says all Anxiety and mental issues are out of our control but the entire rest of the episode is almost dedicated to how to control it and coping mechanisms. If we have no control over the disease why would you suggest those things? You later talk about how dealing with anxiety is as simple as calling a friend or going for a walk. Do you guys understand that anxiety in its worst form can physically change the makeup and chemical balance in your brain? Talking about taking drugs to help with the condition like it is a crutch and that it should almost be looked down on is exactly why we are in the position with mental health we are in this country, you are continuing the stigma of it being an issue that you shouldnt try to take care of the root of but that instead you should distract yourself from using other activities which is especially humorous because Dylan gets on Randy's case for suggesting just that in the early minutes of the episode. I also dont think Dylan has any idea how getting medication for these diseases actually works either, he seems to allude to it being as easy as going to your doctor, saying a few words and getting a prescription for life. You have to regularly take to doctors about your symptoms and depending on how severe they are there are a myriad of others things you can try as well, saying "popping pills and sitting on your couch for 10-20 years" is so minimizing, dismissive and disrespectful I can't believe you then work that into your faith within a couple sentences.

Thanks for taking the time! First off, we both never claimed to be defining anxiety, and very clearly didn't make that a part of the conversation. I do imagine that most adults know what the feeling of being anxious is, and don't need it defined for them. Minimization. So, exactly what you're doing to Randy? Minimizing his childhood experiences to prove your point over the internet? "An ACTUAL condition would be..." This is Dylan by the way. 99 percent sure I said anxiety leading to paranoia, which is a very common thing that happens when self-medicating your anxiety with illicit substances, something I have been very clear about in past episodes. Anxiety and other mental health related issues ARE out of people's control? What's wrong with presented coping mechanisms that may bring relief to someone going through any level of anxiety? We aren't saying that calling a friend is going to "cure" anybody's anxiety, and I think you know that. We ARE saying that calling a friend when you're feeling anxious and talking to them about your feelings is an appropriate coping mechanism. Nothing more, nothing less. Never did either of us present pharmaceutical medicine as a crutch, nor did either of us demonize it as you so claim. According to the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, "antidepressants are to be used as 'maintenance' treatment for up to 2 years to prevent their depression returning (relapse)." evidence.nihr.ac.uk/alert/almost-half-people-long-term-antidepressants-stop-without-relapse/#:~:text=Guidance%20from%20the%20National%20Institute,their%20depression%20returning%20(relapse). Five minutes after we talk about that, I literally state that I was on them for over two years at one point and have considered taking them again lol. The "popping pills and sitting on your couch for 10-20 years statement" is true for many people in my life, and I am very sure about the context of that statement. If you think that popping benzos and melting through your 20s, 30s and 40s is adequate medical care, I don't know what to tell you. What you are describing is one thing, and what I am describing is another. Not everything is black and white as your comment is trying to make it seem, and most of your assumptions are barely fleshed out ideas on a podcast that you are choosing to internalize and turn into something they aren't. Filling in the blanks to try to create an argument based purely off of emotion and not logic. DISCLAIMER: Randy and I aren't medical professionals! Never claimed to be! We merely have conversations regarding our PERSONAL experiences.

@@TheUncoolShow The title of your video is "Anxiety" but again you go on tangents about different mental health disorders, you linked a study to the effects of a maintenance program if you understand what a "maintenance" treatment is than you would know that means after the disorder has cleared up and the person feels better. That would be the same as taking cancer drugs for 2 years after your cancer has cleared up. That doesnt mean that it should take people 2 years or less to get out of a depression and again expecting that to be the case or assuming that can be the case for everyone is dismissive. Also if you read the study you would see that people that discontinued use early relapsed at a rate almost 20% higher than those that stayed on the drug. Also if you read further you would see that every single participant had already had 2 relapses and the researchers themselves say to be careful interpreting the data. Now here is an actual study that shows that "Anxiety disorders are often underrecognized and undertreated in primary care. Treatment is indicated when a patient shows marked distress or suffers from complications resulting from the disorder." and "Anxiety disorders should be treated with psychological therapy, pharmacotherapy, or a combination of both." That doesnt always mean drugs are the main key, but that everyone experiencing this WILL do better with real help and not just calling your friend or going for a walk. That is bad advice if someone hasnt already sought professional help. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5573566/ I am not minimizing Randy's experience, I am saying that if he is equating his 1 instance of missing his mom as a child vs children who physically cant leave to school because they are scared he is minimizing the experience of children who has a serious condition outside of a normal experience. Again "... that is pretty normal for children unless it was a regular occurrence and caused other issues during childhood", so if it was an on-going problem for Randy I empathize, otherwise he is diminishing the real effect of that disorder. Anxiety leading to paranoia is not the only direction that can go, some people can have paranoia without anxiety at all. @15:40-16:05, you ask about if you think people are out to get you and then say that I am reading that's a common symptom of anxiety. This is just blanket false, they are separate disorders and that symptom is not a symptom of anxiety, but paranoia can be caused by anxiety. What I think you are referring to with illicit drugs is a drug induced psychosis which again is a totally separate thing.

@@AnxiousPanda-x9cyou appear very knowledgeable on anxiety and almost seem to give power to it.. you might as well make your own podcast since you have so much to say. I did in fact struggle with separation anxiety most of my childhood I just alluded to one instance because I didn’t want to spend half the episode going into detail. We clearly triggered you enough on this where you had to make a new anonymous KZread account to hate. Either way god bless you and thanks for leaving feedback

@@randy_savage95 I'm not giving power to anxiety, I am just pointing out bad advice and things that will cause people to be worse off than if they actually go to a professional for help. You would've made a much better episode actually discussing those experiences instead of talking about how using drugs to help is causing you to be "unsafe and unwell" @30:50 and instead you should be "breathing, hiking, praying and being grateful" @28:38 as you put it to get better. You should invite me as a guest, I'd be happy to discuss it further

Paha ya mean genuine opinions of who you are? Maybe that is who you are, and their opinion of you is accurate. And maybe you "lashing out" is more of a hissy fit and you are not respectable. By the grace, what will you do to stop being viewed as who you really are?
