What brake pad/rotor combo do you have? Mine I feel would have massive fading issues in a very short time at these speeds (fades after 20 mins of fast road driving)

No idea! Based on the performance, they felt like Duralast pads from the local parts store. I was braking early and soft here, and they were fading in one lap. After two laps, I had to do two laps of cooldown.

I have a hot take. Iracing's tire physics aren't right and that's a good thing. With competitive multiplayer lobbies the super sketchy punishing tires of iracing discourages people from overdriving outside their limits. At the lower levels people crash a lot because they havent yet learned to back off and drive with in themselves and the tires. As they progress they learn you aren't rewarded for full sending which is good for multiplayer racing. Assetto physics are better in a single player vacuum or messing around unranked with friends.

The problem is the ffb takes a stupid amount of tweaking from car to car.. there’s also something fundamentally ‘detached’ about the steering feel some of the cars and tracks are not at the same standard as say gt3 or lmp. Mainly the tracks tho.. oh my Lord some of the tracks are so BAD

After putting around 1100 hours in PC2 I can agree, it's pretty good. It's a shame people can't buy it anymore. I never really understood where the narrative around it being somehow less realistic then other sims came from but I guess It all has to do with expectations. I like dynamism in cars. And yeah PC2 was one of the best at that aspect. Sometimes it can get a bit wonky and some more complex cars do not have a proper simulation for all their features. But when it comes to letting the player experience pure driving fun it is second to none IMO. If you still have PC2 in your library I and didn't give it the time of day back then I urge you to give it a try. Jump in a Group 5 car or do some rallycross, or a hotlap in the BMW M1 Procar around the Ring. If you come back from that without having a grin on your face I don't think you understand what is fun about driving.

I always thought pcars 2 was fine. The FFB can be fixed with a good config file and then is actually really good. The thing that really kills pcars is the inconsistencies. Some cars feel pretty decent and others honestly feel pretty jank. Unfortunately I can't really articulate how. I'm definitely an assetto guy, so that's where I'm coming from. It might just come down to some bad setups? Definitely the braking feels a little too easy. Anyway, I've been playing automobilista 2 lately and it's really to a point now where it's feeling pretty good (at least for what I drive). Definitely feels like a step up in handling from Pcars2. Feels pretty close to AC now, (except in curbs where it's arguably better LOL). The other thing AMS2 does pretty well now is the AI. The weather is fun too. It doest just feel like a better pcars at this point.

Comparing a 10 dollar sim with a 3500 dollar sim. When it comes to physics: The 10 dollar sim wins. By far. Conclusion: iracing is mediocre. Has some good and some bad aspects. And costs 3490 dollars more. It's hilarious.
