Love this series already! Im local to the area and love the story. I find it almost ironic that the tides of the war shifted at Kings Mt

My folks had three men head to King's Mountain. Two came home after Cowpens. It was interesting seeing family oral history in historical records. We spread out all over after that. Maybe the VA can get me fixed up to walk the trail with my kid sister who has a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Blood obviosly runs hot and deep all the way back.

History was made by my ancestors, most of which have been in America since 1600. I am both a Jamestown descendant and Mayflower descendant. TJ is my 3rd Cousin, seven times removed and the Jeffersons lived right next to my 4th great grandfather, Captain James Daniel of Albemarle County, VA.

Forget about it Jeff, they placed the trail across town but it's already falling apart in some sections. The town looks exactly the same this video lies. The only thing spindale changed was some paint(very little) and a few new awnings. You forget that corrupt people still run the town and don't like big changes. Heck we just got a chick FIL a fast food joint a while back and that the most happening thing in all of Rollferd county. Hell will freeze over and the devil will reign on earth before the county commissioners allow big noticeable changes in this town. I feel the Spindale police are even more corrupt than the olden days. I hate to be the pessimist, but they been saying change for years and all we got was a walking trail and a chick fil a.

The change will never come unless we can get these corrupt commissioners and politicians out of office. I know personally tons of big businesses have offered to come in but they reject most of them. Look at the walking trail for instance it was supposed to be this grand thing yet it's already crumbling on the edges everywhere. Not to mention the kudzu that overgrows everywhere. It's sad to say, but Rutherfordton/Forest City/Spindale will always be a dump town geared for old folks that don't like change.

My father was born in Lawndale in 1931. Many happy Saturdays playing on the river. Special place no doubt. Used to be some tennis courts beside the mill back in the early 70’s…probably long gone. My Aunt Carrie worked in the office at the mill as well. Good luck with the project.

We will not forget. “Give them Indian war” They fought for their families and they fought for their lives. They fought for their religion freedom . They fought for the Right! Big thank you to all that are preserving this trail .

There is a REASON we Montana folks DO NOT advertise our small beautiful small towns. Bozeman foolishly did that and its getting destroyed! Its a catch 22. 1) Advertise a beautiful small town. 2) People visit 3) people move there 4) the area gets overcrowded 5) its no longer a beautful small town. Its now a city just like any other. When you advertise a place like this you are your own downfall. HGTV has tried to come into my city in Montana many times. They city WONT grant permits to film there. One of the film crews actually went to Bozeman when we kicked them out.
