32:58 Orchestra stuff from here
your piece is quite nice but that hi bambooish Ableton-metronome sound might be reconsidered....great synth btw.
I am actually studying more about medieval fantasy writing these days before I buy this library. I listen to a lot of video game tracks especially Prince of Persia and Assasins Creed. The library sounds amazing but I don't wanna end up buying it to collect dust. Great walkthrough Pete!
'Ello I'm checking this out to compare it with Sonuscore Chroma - Upright Piano. Seems like this is more based on mixing sevaral sounds. All in all, both amazing post modern piano libaries. And well, Chroma - Grand Piano was the first of those. If not Piano Colors by Galaxy Instruments.
Well, I've bought enough Sonuscore products on sale this... Sale. This will go on the list for next time. Maybe next year.
This reminds me of Piano Colors, by Galaxy Instruments for Native Instruments. Anyhow, Sonuscore has done great libaries published themselves and for Native Instruments. At the time I'm writing this they've got a sale going on, only for a few more days. If you read this in time, make sure to make us of it, although you can't buy this on sale.
Thank you VERY MUCH Pete Checkley ❤ for the Review and also Brian Brylow for the publication ❤ Have a look here at the very First Ample China Series by Pete Checkley: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i6mJ2sOlhNrdnNo.htmlsi=PEJcFzWF7VZGyYT3 On behalf of the AmpleSound Team , Thank you Very Much for your presence!!!!!!!! - Jason Morin
If anybody interested, there is just 50% discount of that tools next 6 days, and Im seriously consider to buy The Orchestra for 149 EUR. I was testing Musio on trial, they also have discount now (200$) , but this interface on The Orchestra is so fantastic, and I just found out it today !
Awesome video and plug-in! Very clearly presented and thought out. Thank you for this tutorital/demo/review!
Currently using it to create my game soundtrack and it's great but i wish they add some more middle eastern instruments or score.
I think it's because it's a Fantasy sample library that mimics the medieval European period, not an ethnic/world sample library that mimics other medieval cultures. How do you find the library so far? I am scratching my head to buy it this year's black Friday
@@Ahmad-Mounir44 It's really good and the addition of fantasy voice was great for my project. The fantasy orcherstrator have very good presets and scores. Since i have a subscription to composer cloud i have access to Silk and RA so i have what i need for my game score that is located in Egypt in the 1800 century. You get a 1 month trial i think if you go via composer cloud but i am not a 100% sure about this but worst case scenario it will cost you 20$ to test it.
TOC3 is just a fantastic tool and powerful cinematic orchestral library. Many ways with the engine parameters and midi drag and drop to make it your own workhorse. Great demo and overview of the libraries tier differences. I really like the woods in this library.
Thank you! They put a lot of work into Woods of the Wild and it shows.
I have both versions they sound almost identical.
Thanks for the walkthrough. Unfortunately, you didn't properly demonstrate the strength (or intent) of the Improv patches. You just played a few short chords, and while users are free to do whatever they like, that's not really what the Improv patches are for. They're intended for long notes that allow you to hear the sustained, improvised performances that change over time. For demonstration purposes, a single, long note would demonstrate this best.
I'm looking for an experienced opinion. How does this compare to Nucleus; It looks like Audio Imperia has no intention of putting it on sale again for a long time.
They usually do bf sale and that's it
I don't own Nucleus but I spoke to the team a bit. TOC3 is hard to beat as a composing tool, given the sheer amount of content and MIDI Export capability. It has way more articulations given the expansions, and the Ensemble Engine that provides the Animated / Rhythm presets is not present in Nucleus. Nucleus has a great sound, and is more geared towards an orchestral scoring audience vs. "cinematic" scoring audience. If the workflow of TOC3 seems useful to you, I'd say this is the one to get. Otherwise, it's really up to the preference of your ear. The great thing is that you can get a free taste of the Ensemble Engine via The Orchestra Elements, which will give you a chance to work with it a bit at no cost! (Minus the ability to swap articulations) One last thing, you could always try TOC Essentials and Nucleus Lite, and choose which one to upgrade after you've had time to try them out. TOC upgrades usually go on sale once or twice a year, and I'm pretty sure AI allows an upgrade path as well.
Right, and the other big differences are that Nucleus has mic positions and solo instruments; the importance of those is highly dependent on your personal workflow and which projects you take on. For example, when writing more ambient sci-fi I absolutely need solo instruments and prefer far mic positions... But when writing fantasy video game music I would much rather have the Ensemble Engine.
I would already say the sound, which sound do you prefer, it's very important, listen to the demos well, Nucleus has the advantage of having two microphone mixes, the complete orchestra I like to mix it with other libraries like Audio Imperia for example, but I like to use it less alone, it lacks contrast when you use only the orchestra. Then what level do you have? And how much time do you have available to make music? It's easier and faster to use the complete orchestra but we go much further with Nucleus. The violins are the weak part of the complete orchestra, at first I had replaced it with Aeria Lite from Audio Imperia. In conclusion, personal opinion, Nucleus can be enough on its own, while for the complete orchestra it will probably be necessary to buy other libraries to evolve. however I love The Complete Orchestra 3 for its speed and the sound of these brass instruments (which I complete with Hyperion Brass and Abbey Road One, and other stuff according to the style) Don't hesitate if you have any questions🙂🙂🙂
@@gregorypara Wow. Thank you for such a thoughtful, informative response!
love this sample set!
I have certainly been enjoying it, lots of smiling when I play this one.
Today's modern orchestral offerings especially from folks like Kirk are just mind-blowing. I started my journey over a decade ago and it was both expensive and challenging. Despite the b******* spewed by trolls like @yves2078 this is a stunning creation for just a couple hundred bucks and less on intro and the power and flexibility is just exquisite. Thank you Kirk for always offering things that folks can afford and more recently exploring new capabilities to enhance the music creative process. I'll gladly pick this up.
Helpful video. Does this work in the Spitfire player, or just Kontakt? I have to wait on a sale, but it's my next buy. Cheers.
One thing I would be interested in knowing is whether it’s possible to give the piano a felt like sound using some of the controls.
this is by far the best demo of this i’ve seen. i wish they would allow a demo/trial. thx for the video
i just don’t like having to use kontakt. if they would follow suit of triaz, sample logic, i would give them my money. also, i kinda feel like it’s arrogant to say we, the consumer, don’t need a feature ie load our own samples; if they did indeed say that.
@@meloniusthonk Fair enough, although Kontakt has never really been an issue but I appreciate it is a preference! There is so much going on here, you never really need to load in your own samples but as it is such a powerful engine, it’s a great feature to have! :) cheers for the comment!
One of the best. Stefano is a hero and gives us wonderful libraries to work with 😊
25:58 to hear it
Thanks for sharing - I love lost guitar!
Foes it work with Free Kontakt 7.1?
It does work with the free Kontakt (Kontakt Player), but the minimum version is 7.7
Love it and what an amazing Composition :) guess i have to up my Piano skills ;)
You know Pete, this is the first time I felt like it’s your worst review ever. I mean I can understand if you have fast forwarded your review/Walkthru of the SSO but there aren’t many on the OT’s BO & this turned out to be your worst. I think you can do it when you have, rather cater time to do it so that. The playthru felt reckless, careless. I am sorry but I actually like most of your Walkthrus it’s just this one. Hope you’ll do best again. Vivasswan SriHarsha
@@VivaswanSriHarsha hello! Thanks for the comment! Here’s the thing, I did explain that I have been very much under the weather for a few days and while that isn’t an excuse, I wanted to get a video out while the bundle offer was still active. Whilst this one hasn’t met your expectations, I feel there is a good overview of the instrument, what it contains and what they sound like. That is pretty much what the video needs to show and I feel it does. Whilst I probably didn’t create it in my usual style, I had to stop and start the recording frequently due to coughing a lot and losing my voice and still managed to stitch together a coherent video. So whilst I respect your opinion and hope the next videos meet your expectation, given the circumstance I stand by my work. Had I had more time, I would have changed and developed the demo more for sure but these things happen sadly. It’s an occupational hazard really! Thanks for the feedback!
Hello Pete! Yes, I know you said that in the video. I am just wondering when did they give you the copy & I am sure you haven’t had much time to dive deep, in order to do the overview but in that case, they should have given the copy even more earlier, being one of the best devs out there. Yes, that puts you in strain & I guess it had to happen that way. Can’t be avoided. Hope you get the copy of another library that you do the overview/Walkthru a little earlier so that you can work before you upload. And make sure to have control on your modwheel even better. Vivasswan SriHarsha
Hello! So this is a great example of learning one word incorrectly and then continuing to use it for years without realising! Yes, the word is Teldex and I added an extra “e”! Apologies for continually getting the room name wrong and pronouncing it “Tel-e-dex”.
Thanks for that test. Downloaded the demo and in fact it's a great reverb. Alternative to Spitfires Air Studio much tighter. And it's also possible to simulate bigger rooms when changing it's decay time.
Thank you for trying it out. I only did that in the solo demos because I figured the tails were a given haha. You still can hear the tails in my composition though. This reverb kicks ass
Why are mockups with Berlin Series hard to find on KZread (except on OTs channel)? CSS or BBCSO etc no problem. Does anybody know?
I think it might be because the base price for the Berlin orchestra is a little steep, so less accessible. But getting it on a sale is great idea, which I did. So, if it interests you, I would definitely grab it. It also comes packaged with the Berlin Studio reverb as part of the sale, and that reverb is terrific :)
@@5ammy13 Thanks for Your reply. I own already the Berlin Series and various other orchestra libraries (Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, BBCSO, Cinematic Series) but enjoy to hear how others work with them. Only Berlin Series is a blind spot. Hm, maybe the price.
@@ASX2001 Hey, yeah I am guessing it's the price. Also, Berlin Orchestra is free for people who own the complete Berlin Series, and I think for them, it just makes more sense to mockup with the full-package Berlin Series, than use the Berlin Orchestra. For me, the sound is just really good and I absolutely love it. I think I will try mocking up something with it. Let's see :)
how do you edit your screen recording to do these zoom angles in the beginning in the video ?? plz
It's July 2024 and I got this library for $49, still OFF from $69 - so it's a bargain. Sounds amazing and well worth the price! Your video explained it very well. Thanks.
Thank you very much for the interesting insights
Yes, its a powerhouse but you gonna get blind. The UI is so tiny, its a pain to use it! How many years gonna take for Steinberg to realize people use 2k and 4k monitors?
I just bought this today won't be able to try it for a while but I'm unsure of my purchase to be honest 😅 because I'm worried I will find all the controls overwhelming. How has your experience with the interface been? because it seems like you could spend more time messing with controls instead of making music 😄
Phew! Nothing special here. I can keep me dosh. Same old, same old.
I have to purchase this, NOW!
three minutes into the video and you can tell the Chroma is Epic.. 😎
🤍🤍🤍👽🎶👽🤍🤍🤍
Very nice!
Thanks :D
How do HALion 7 orchestral instruments compare with Iconica (Sketch) and if they are similar then why does Steinberg offer both?
Great demo, I'm sold! (Long 'a' - tar-gal harp-a)
Amazing review Pete, thanks a lot to The Sampleist team!
Absolutely my pleasure!
I did get the GRIMM library a while back, this for sure reminds me a ton of that library. Perhaps it will be a solid addition?! Or would having both be a tiny bit redundant??
Looks and sounds nice but it doesn't sound brilliant for electronic music.
Really fabulous.
Was there a problem in your recording. The voice sounds nasal. Something was off.
are there waltz (3/4) patterns. Enough of them? If not is it super easy to make them fit 3/4 signature?
No keyswitch for articulations?
Lovely composition, I love that you also do that with this reviews and not just playing presets.
Thanks so much for the kind comment! We feel the composition is so important, just to hear it in action!
Fantastic reverb plugin. My go to reverb now. Cinematic Rooms and EW Spaces II have dropped down to 2nd and third place. Great review too. Love it.
