    Yours was very simple. There was another guy who was really good too, but he ended up removing the fuel lines completely.

    Hi, good video. I removed my front wheel but did not have the required Allen key. I got a high tensile bolt the head of which fit the axle and then cut off the excess length and then welded it into a old half inch drive socket. Presto new tool 1.40$

    16:35 I've never seen a caliper used from the slider to the rod end. Mine is from the bottom of the caliper to the tip of the rod.

    Today I did the same on my motorcycle and finally discovered how the damping adjustment works, there are 4 nozzle positions and it is worth setting them the same so that you can then adjust both forks.

    FZ6 07. I just did this repair and learned three things. 1) The split spacer that drops in before the seal must be forced into place to permit the seal to be properly installed with the retainer. 2) The best way to force the spacer and the seal home is a 14" piece of 3" ABS pipe cut lengthwise and held squeezed around the pipe. It is the perfect thickness to avoid damaging the seal and by putting a piece of wood across the top of the rig you can gently tap everything down evenly. 3) loosen the top cap and bottom hex bolt while still on the bike. That way you aren't trying to clamp or damage the pipe fighting to loosen them in the shop. A a pretty easy repair once you have a plan.

    The pin you use where the ball joint is won't fit in anymore. The ball joint is blocking it. Why is this?

    I bought the OEM Yamaha timing chain from Fowlers Parts UK if I remember correctly. OEM Part no 94591-40138 You can get an open ended one which needs to be riveted, fiddly and risky job that. Hope this helps.

    Nice work ! Did this job a week ago on my nissan x-Trail I found out the easiest way was to take out the arm and press the ball joint in and out with a socket in a hydraulic press. It took about five tons to get the old one out 🙂

    Many thanks for uploading this video series, you insprired me to finally tackle my own bike sitting at almost 36,000 miles (had 32,000 when I bought it and no proper service proof that valves had ever been checked). Once I lifted the cover, it became apparent that mine also had deterioration of the seal around the coolant pipe. I suspect they might all suffer problem this given the corrosion of the coolant pipe. Will check my clearances over the next few days & follow the rest of your clips.

    They are NOT Philips head screws! They are JIS head screws! They at a glance look the same, but using a Philips screwdriver on a JIS screw may well ruin it.

    Great video..but there's a problem. When trying to undo allen bolt at base of fork, the whole mechanism goes round and round inside. With the top cap removed, now insert a long round block of wood, piece of wood needs to be correct diameter to fit the inside bolt mechanism to hold it firm whilst you undo allen bolt.

    You cant seperate the ball joint , from the arm. Looks like you brought a new arm lol after the camera went off and back on again

  • @TheGarage2018
    @TheGarage201811 ай бұрын

    Yes I did buy a new arm, the ball joint was riveted on to the old arm and I didn’t fancy cutting the rivets off. The complete arm wasn’t that much more expensive.

    Briliant video.shame about the lost footage. Im going to try to change the timing chain myself because the mechanics dont want to do it. Any special tools i need for the process? Also would it be easier to put on aftermarket chain that comes with a connection link?
