    Have you sewn with a Jellyroll before? Do you have a favorite pattern?

    I have made the jelly roll race multiple times. When I want quick and easy that works. I also like the fence rail for an easy pattern.

    I love making these, but I've never used hot glue before and don't own a hot glue gun. I use skinny strips of Heat & Bond Ultra, adhere them to the binding (which I fold exactly like you do, but I don't sew it at all as the Heat & Bond covers the center) and stand the boards on one end like you are and wrap the binding around and carefully hit the edge with my iron. Works perfectly with no glue mess. I may be the only person on the planet that has never used a glue gun.

    Thanks for the tutorial! I have some 100% polyester quilt batting, high loft, left over from a project I did for someone a few years ago. Do you think it would be ok to use it?

  • @pickinstitches
    @pickinstitches4 күн бұрын

    Batting is great because it "holds" onto your fabric a litte. Ive only ever made them with a lower loft batting and mostly cotton, but Id give it a try since you already have it! Let me know how it goes :) -Kelly

    I was falling over, into the corridor walls at work when I first got my progressive lenses. They said it could take two weeks to get used to looking through the correct part of the lenses for reading versus distance and such. It definitely took me that long. And I HAD to wear them cuz I couldn't see without them. So, if you are taking them on and off, it might take you longer to get used to them. I was also told that people who go from bifocals to progressive have a harder time!

  • @pickinstitches

    If you’re one of those who has projects using salvages, you can add your ribbons to that. I frankly have too many patterns in my head running around to be bothered with that little stuff. Lol of course after I throw everything away, something amazing will appear, and I will regret, sending it all of the dump. Story of my life.

  • @jolene2334

    Hey! I don't know what size she is using. I am actually making hour glass squares for a scrap quilt I am doing but I cut 1 inch bigger. I am doing 4.5 in blocks so I cut my squares 5.5. And i trim if needed. Hope that's helps.

  • @pickinstitches
    @pickinstitches13 күн бұрын

    I cut them 6 inches to start just to make sure I had room to trim down. Math wise I think you could do 5.5 but I like to have room to trim. Please note I didnt not start with the kit. I bought a 1/2 yd bundle of Shoreline. Also I used Staflow diluted by half and then hang it to dry. I'm currently playing with other starch methods since I can't find it anywhere for a normal price.... Hope that helps :) -Kelly
