Have you sewn with a Jellyroll before? Do you have a favorite pattern?
I have made the jelly roll race multiple times. When I want quick and easy that works. I also like the fence rail for an easy pattern.
@@michelleswistak1389 thata a great one!!
Ticking. Love your top!
Thank you! I could not for the life of me think of it:) -Kelly
What has been your favorte block so far? Or your favorite block in general?
Thanks for this one, Kelly!
Aww thanks! Love!
French seams sound so fancy. What was a tip you leared in the sewing room that sounds hard but was really quite simple?
I got that kit too because it was a good price, am using the pattern that comes with the kit, and anxious to start it!
Yay, it’s going to be such a fun project!
ArtEast Quilt Co patterns are great in Tula Pink fabrics!
Great suggestion! I'll check them out. -Kelly
What other patterns would you try with this fabric?
I love making these, but I've never used hot glue before and don't own a hot glue gun. I use skinny strips of Heat & Bond Ultra, adhere them to the binding (which I fold exactly like you do, but I don't sew it at all as the Heat & Bond covers the center) and stand the boards on one end like you are and wrap the binding around and carefully hit the edge with my iron. Works perfectly with no glue mess. I may be the only person on the planet that has never used a glue gun.
I love it! Ill have to give it a try next time:) -Kelly
Thanks for the tutorial! I have some 100% polyester quilt batting, high loft, left over from a project I did for someone a few years ago. Do you think it would be ok to use it?
Batting is great because it "holds" onto your fabric a litte. Ive only ever made them with a lower loft batting and mostly cotton, but Id give it a try since you already have it! Let me know how it goes :) -Kelly
Thanks Kelly!!!
Thabk you for watching!
So what is your favorite tool/ notion low cost item that changed your sewing patterns?
I am absolutely loving your videos! Wondering if you’d ever do a sewing room tour? It looks so organized and pretty! I love seeing other quilters spaces ❤
Thanks so much! My daughter just told me I need to do one too. Maybe later in June:) -Kelly
I will definitely be looking forward to that! Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing this.
Of course! They really help me keep my brain straight:)
Really enjoyed watching you sew. Beautiful block. Fingers cross box will be here Tuesday.
Fingers crossed! Yes I hope so too. Shipping times can be so odd. -Kelly
My design boards are always too small, too. How big did you make this one?
I made this one 20x 20. Tutorial coming:)
I just found your channel about a week ago and I've watched every video you've put out since. I really like watching you. I'm so glad you did this tutorial. I've not been quilting again long so it really helps me to see how others do things. How do you make your design boards?
Hi! Im so Glad you are here :). It helps so much to be able to see all the ways people do things. I have a tutorial coming out soon on the design boards. I love them! -Kelly
You got to that one quick! Nice job! I think most of us call them "dog ears" but rabbits are nice, too!
I mean I don't want to cut off any pet ears... but yes:) -Kelly
Hey guys! Hope you are having a great holiday weeknd!
How do I get this box
It's the Fat Quarter Shop Sew Samper. I can shoot you a link. But I'm not an affiliate, yet;)
I was falling over, into the corridor walls at work when I first got my progressive lenses. They said it could take two weeks to get used to looking through the correct part of the lenses for reading versus distance and such. It definitely took me that long. And I HAD to wear them cuz I couldn't see without them. So, if you are taking them on and off, it might take you longer to get used to them. I was also told that people who go from bifocals to progressive have a harder time!
Thanks for the tips! I feel ok for the most part- Honestly its looking through the reading part that bugs me the most. Ill get there- or I wont, LOL. :) -Kelly
Give yourself time and your glasses will become more natural. It takes a few days to adjust.
Thank you! Thats why I keep coming back to them, but I dont tolerate feeling nauseous. -Kelly
What do you think, basting pins sprinkles in my sewing room? -Kelly
Cool fabric. Never heard of Green Fairy Quilts. Will have to check them out. Thanks.
I really like their customer service! -Kelly
Yardage.. a ft qtr if I just need a piece of something.
If it is priced well thats my go to as well. I like to have some wiggle room on projects and extra just makes great scrappy quilts later :) -Kelly
I pre ordered mine!
Me too! I need to see if the backings are up yet;)
What is your favorte size to purchase? Precuts, Yardage?
Beautiful fabrics! I'd use a pattern that uses them more with less background.
EDIT- I buy Bella Solid 97 not 98! Yes I buy a Bella Solid 97 by the bolt, but that is leaving a lot of these fat quarters behind. Unless I make 2 with it again, LOL :) -Kelly
Shoulld I sew out this Apple Turnover Pattern or do something else.
Do you shop the daily deals? Who is your favorite vendor to shop with?
Updated video- No music here kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYiHuax9pZeumZs.html&ab_channel=PickinStitchesKellyAulson -Kelly
I would have watched this but the background music was extremely annoying.
Im so sorry, technical challenges. Here is the video with NO muisc kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYiHuax9pZeumZs.html -Kelly
If you’re one of those who has projects using salvages, you can add your ribbons to that. I frankly have too many patterns in my head running around to be bothered with that little stuff. Lol of course after I throw everything away, something amazing will appear, and I will regret, sending it all of the dump. Story of my life.
Haha thats me too :)
What do you think? Swirls and leaves?
Haha! Yes! (I’m consistently indecisive)
Who is your favorite Company to check Daily Deals on?
DId you find flying geese to be a difficult block , or do these rulers help you?
What is your favorite type of fabric to get in these kits? Did you see March Precuts? kzread.info/dash/bejne/qYF9zNOJYsSdgcY.html
What is your favorite way to make a Square in a Square block? Another Block from the Piece and Quilt Sampler. kzread.info/dash/bejne/omukrtmcZ9Kzn5M.html
I love those! I got the other box and now I kind of regret my decision to swap boxes.
I think I might need to get both! Lol!
Ok. I’ve watched twice. Did you say that you cut the squares for hr glass bigger? By how much. And how do you get stiff fabric like that it’s amazing.
Hey! I don't know what size she is using. I am actually making hour glass squares for a scrap quilt I am doing but I cut 1 inch bigger. I am doing 4.5 in blocks so I cut my squares 5.5. And i trim if needed. Hope that's helps.
I cut them 6 inches to start just to make sure I had room to trim down. Math wise I think you could do 5.5 but I like to have room to trim. Please note I didnt not start with the kit. I bought a 1/2 yd bundle of Shoreline. Also I used Staflow diluted by half and then hang it to dry. I'm currently playing with other starch methods since I can't find it anywhere for a normal price.... Hope that helps :) -Kelly
Pretty block, where did you get your pin cushion?
The flower one? www.fatquartershop.com/sea-glass-flower-power-magnetic-pin-holder-bee-in-my-bonnet I really want a red one but can't find it:( -Kelly
Oh man I LOVE these fabrics! 😍
I think this quilt is going to be so much fun! -Kelly
Hello Kelly. I like that It’s So Emma pattern for the fabrics. I can’t wait to see what the quilt will look like. The fabrics are not what I would have chosen but this is definitely a way to get us out of our comfort zone and try new designers for a chance to crest with something new. Have a blessed day. ~Martha
Omg thank god I found you. I’m doing this quilt. I bought the papers and I’ve not started as I had no idea what to do. I’m going to follow along closely. Thankyou.
Im so glad! Cant wait to hear how it is going for you too! -Kelly
Very cute!
Thank you! 😊 -Kelly
I’ve had those QIAD Flying Geese rulers for years. I love them. I’ve tried some others but go to these again and again.
Same here! Fewer lines less confussion:)
Ohhhh what messy method... There is a better and a simple way from Ire Heart crafting - watch that
I'll check it out. Thanks!
Is that a 4” or 5” outer border?
My strips were 6 inches, so 5 1/2 finished. -Kelly
I just came upon your channel and subscribed. Love this pattern. I’m still having a hard time deciding whether to follow the pattern or have the bobbins and blooms going in the same direction. I like it both ways. Love yours with that beautiful green border that pulls out the color in the leaves. Beautiful!
I also would love to see it sewn out with a color back ground. Not enough hours in the day! Love to see yours when you decide what you are doing. -Kelly
