They dock the tails to keep them clean. I'm sure they anesthetize the tail before docking. If you ask me they can afford to have someone swat the flies away.

Shame on Budweiser for docking their horse's tails. This is mutilation...and is a sadistic practice that does not need to happen. NO, they do not need to have them butchered like this to keep them clear of the harness....that is a lie. Just look at Vanners, Haflingers, Friesians, Cleveland Bays, Standardbreds and many more...all used in harness..NONE of them have their tails butchered. Richard...what seems to be your problem? Why do you support animal abuse? Do you enjoy seeing animals hurt...does that give you a thrill or are you just that incredibly stupid...which seems to be the case. I am working with others to end this kind of cruelty towards horses...why is that so incredibly hard for you to understand. This mutilation is now banned in 14 states, 5 Canadian provinces and 11 countries...and we will keep working until it is banned through the United States. Since you like seeing animals hurt and abused...why don't you seek some professional help instead of randomly tossing insults at people who are working to stop cruelty and abuse.

Did you not understand that 14 states, 11 countries and 5 Canadian provinces recognize the cruelty here? You don't like to read what people post...you make up what you think they are saying. I am working with others to pass laws in every state, one state at a time...until it is banned throughout the United States. I keep a spotlight on the Budweiser Clydes so that people are aware of the mutilation that Budweiser performs on them. Why do you support that kind of cruelty towards a horse? Do you enjoy seeing animals hurt...is that it?

+Briar Lee Mitchell we once had a barn full of 8 horses until we retired. I doubt you even know how tails are docked or much more about the draft breed. Keep banging that drum in an empty room of listeners - eventually even you will find it annoying.
Animals should NEVER be used for entertainment. All these industries are extremely abusive in the training of these animals, which they NEVER allow the public to see. I hope to never again hear the MORONIC comment , 'Why would anybody abuse such expensive animals that they make their living off of?' The same reason that each year thousands of race horses are drugged, fatally injured and sent to slaughter when they can no longer make $$$ for their owners. Animals used in all forms of entertainment, with few exceptions, suffer the same horrific fates when they can no longer generate $$$. Love animals? Don't patronize these functions.

Kathy, I appreciate your concern for the animals but in THIS case you don't have CLUE what you are talking about. Check out this link to learn more. As an aside, I lived in St. Louis, MO for the first 29 years of my life, visited the Busch Farms in South County several times. The Busch family is justifiably proud of these animals and the notoriety they bring to the Brand. They take care of the animals in a way no other groups could. First, they have a lot of money to do it, second, they care DEEPLY about them, and third, it would be just plain stupid fro them to embrace ANY training or housing protocol that could be even remotely construed as less than perfect. Pleas rethink your opinion of ALL representations of animal training as it relates to commercial performance.

Typical know it all who knows Nada. Each and every foal or retiree are kept track of, their breeding program is second to none. They are well taken care of and live three times longer than wild horses with fewer injuries and sickness. Grow a brain and investigate before you opinionate.
