    As long as you keep the same grip every at bat then yes, a heavier bat will hit the ball further. Hold my beer… The formula for moment of inertia in this case is : I = 1/3 ML^2. Where I = moi, M = mass, and L = length. Since length is squared, it is actually more important than mass. Since we all use 34” bats in softball, the only way to increase the length of the bat is to use some variation of the overlap grip. So someone using the overlap grip with a lighter bat can produce the same moment of inertia as someone using a heavier bat with a standard grip.

    Good stuff. The metal tool that Gary had. They refer to that as IASTM - Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. I use something similar I bought from a physical therapist. Another name is Graston technique, where they use a set of different shaped tools for different muscles. I like to combine it with my massage gun, usually at different times. Some massage therapists will use these metal tools and call it scraping, to work on the fascia

    Ed can ya point me to knowledgeable folks when it comes to putting together a senior tourney. Looking to reboot Morris Clark Softball Tournament here in the INW. Local ParknRec said they don't have time but are open to someone from the outside to put one together and the area has a couple sweet complexes to work with, please advise as your schedule permits

    Subscapularis is the rotator cuff muscle on the front of the scapula. Supraspinatus sits on top of the shoulder blade and you have two more cuff muscles on the back of the scapula. Four tendons attach to the “ball” to keep it in the socket

    Ed, i love youre videos. Im overlap all the way. Can you make a video on the politics with managers in mens softball, how it effects your game, and how to deal with it. This is a topic that is very overlooked. Bad managers affect everones game. Politics within teams leaves players in bad position and it affects their performance. My batting avg. easily drops .150 pts when im dealing with bs politics that come with some managers. On the contrary, when playing with a good manager i outperform my own expectations.

    Don't assume that a lighter bat will give you more bat speed. Truth is as we get older, speed escapes us. You can increase strength. With strength, if you can wheel that heavier bat around, you'll get the performance you're looking for. A real popular bat these days is a 28oz 12" barrel with an extra 1/2 to 1oz added to it. It's like cracking a whip when that barrel makes contact.

  • @edrose14
    @edrose143 ай бұрын

    well bottom line is if you swing that 28 better than a 26 and get results really doesn't matter how fast your bat speed is, many old players really don't need the so call bat speed. Some prefer the heavier bat because it supplies the eight to hit to Right with some pop. YOU should not find anyone on this channel telling you to do one certain thing. I share my experiences and that of other players I respect their knowledge of what they do for good results. When you get in your 70's the game is no longer goes to the biggest and strongest, ed
