C.K. Haun

C.K. Haun

A channel of exploration. Many of the videos are about building electronic kits. Many of them are inexpensive kits from Amazon and eBay, I put them together and describe the process, including tips and techniques and potential problem areas. I also evaluate how appropriate they may be for beginning builders. I also build many Eurorack (euro rack) music modules. By the way, I purchase all of these kits myself at retail prices.
I also occasionally disassemble things to see how they work or how well they're build.
And of course, other miscellaneous videos as the mood strikes me. NOTE: I am not an electronics expert, I'm a guy who has built electronics for nearly 60 years, but if you're looking for in-depth circuit analysis or design, I'm not that guy, there are many good channels for that.
Called "The David Attenborough of build videos" by one subscriber....

Thankyou for the video. 👍I built this one yesterday and was trying to calibrate it today. Had much the same experience. I wasn't sure what the objective was with calibration of the self-oscillation LOW FREQ but your video helped me a bit. I also had the same issue with the 10nF capacitor not fitting (17:55). I was forced to solder it to the underside of the board. My kit was missing the 300k resistor, so I put in the lowest value 330k I had (317k) (the 300k is not even in the BOM document!) I also had some extra resistors and figured they were spares too 🙂

Here's a tip for you. Put flux on the board, don't be stingy. Now grab your already used up solder wick and tin all your pads. The truck is to get it where you aren't seeing that curved bump of solder that would make it impossible to get your LEDs flat. Maybe just do one side/row until you get it down. If you get it just right you can do both sides though. Those LEDs are tiny, it does not take much solder. The 3 throughholes right in the middle of the board L-out GND R-out. Use 2 of the 3 there. It doesn't have a microphone so it has to have input to the "spectrum analyzer". The L and R out does not go to the speakers so it's probably line level. You only use the ground and L-out and L -out goes to M on the LED board. 5v you get from the throughhole on the 5v track under the header pin. It's not marked but the track is pretty big. You should be able to use the LED board with any audio output of the correct level. This is basically 2 separate devices stuck together. They really should mark that better. So if the Bluetooth board isn't working just hook the the LED board to something else. Either way unhook the LED board and the try the media player again, in case you did solder something wrong or there's something faulty on the board. One part of the thing must work right?all I really care about is the pretty lights $40 you got robbed. I paid 32 and now it's like 25 so I got robbed too damnit. I forgot I bought this kit, it's been sitting on a shelf. I'm glad I waited to do it because when I bought it I did not know that copper braid trick so it would have been hard to do. Now I'm deciding hot plate or hot air. I'll probably try both, for science of course. I'm crossing my fingers that mine will work

@CKHaun circuit design and board quality is one thing the parts bag inventory count before being sent to customer and instruction manual would be where the quality control would have ample time to correct. Glad you like it, ordered one a few days ago. £10 delivered from Ali Express. I have a Yihua Soldering Station which works well for me.

This will be a great complement to that solder station.

Thanks, C.K. 👍 I've been looking for one of these and could not decide on which one 😉

I think you'll love it. Used it last night on a "real" project and again, de-soldered no fuss in an instant.
