I dont agree with the comment regarding where fungicides are applied it breaks down faster, maybe he miss-spoke, but anywhere we MISS a fungicide on corn, the residue breaks down MUCH faster.

Seems like I visited you at your farm around40 years ago all the way from Kansas near Emmaus. But it may have been nearer 50 years ago. Been so long I forget seeds I bought at your farm. Must have been hairy vetch though.....I never did get them worked into my rotation. I bought parts for I and J roller a few years back and completed welding it together later. Time flies. Dennis. Ray thinks it's possible to get untreated GMO seed, but you should ask your seed dealer. He says GMO has nothing to do with the treatment, but untreated non-GMO is used in organic, so it may be more available than untreated GMO.

Invasive Stink bug natural local predators: pill bugs and praying mantis. I encourage and see praying mantis (and huge spiders) by including barrier rows or interseeding of Buckwheat. I found that spiders and mantis are protectors against a Japanese Beetle infestation I had. Buckwheat also increases Phosphorous available in the soil.

I look forward to hearing more on this issue and using strip till to fend against it; You are the one who opened my eyes up to nutrient stratification last year. We've been no-tilling corn for about 8 years on soybean stubble and like you said, just broadcast a lot of N (ESN) & K out overtop of the ground and hoping the best from Mother Nature. We also strip-till with a knife unit, putting stablized 28% in the ground (8" deep), but only on previous year's winter wheat...then clover cover crop ground (all burnt down fall prior to planting). Soybeans we broadcast NPK and lightly disk or VT in then air-seed with JD 1990ccs. 1/2 of our acres is only a corn soybean rotation that strictly gets no-tilled corn and light till pre-planting soybeans....so this is the ground I'm most concerned with nutrient stratification. Thanks for your research and sharing.

I think it should be an owner/operator exemption. If somebody starts a business and decides he has the capability to run three at once he should be allowed to. However, Nutrien and other large retailers shouldn't be able to force some random yahoo that's doing good to fly one without messing it up to attempt to fly 3.

  • @NoTillFarmer

Ryan uses a 30 mesh screen on the sprayer with XtendiMax high-volume tips. He says the compost extract does settle and needs to be agitated. The spray pump doesn't appear to damage the organisms because Ryan says he's seeing positive results from foliar applying the extract onto his crops. He goes in-depth about the extract process, application and benefits in this 2-part podcast episode if you're interested in learning more about it: www.no-tillfarmer.com/articles/12755-podcast-rebuilding-no-till-soils-microbiome-with-compost-extract-part-1

Wooohaaaa. The fungi description @ 16,50 doesn't correlate with what I have been taught, the fungal tip is around 5:1, and can be up to 1000:1 in the older hyphae, and they don't eat bacteria, they consume complex carbon/woody material/high C material. And fuck the god bullshit and your product
